This new Protoss shield system with buildings is terrible.
Madkill40 replied to Vancer2's topic in Feedback & Bug Reports
A building reaching a destroyed state, just to return to a pristine state was silly looking. -
Generals 2 was canned because EA wanted F2P it to shit.

My curiosity made its way into my post, my bad.

So instead of "BUILDING NEEDS REPAIR" being spammed at the top in the chatbox, when a player hits 'Q' for a building in need the building icon targeted could flash with "XY Building in Danger!" appearing in green text above it which could stay there for 45 seconds whilst an alert sound loops for 20 seconds?

The best scorer isn't exactly a good measure either. None of the scoreboard is a good measure. All players should become one with the Unity and have one shared score/ kill/ deaths/ ping/ If the best scorer and best K/D are on the same team in one game then they are at least forced to be on opposing teams next game, if it was to be like this.

I disagree, one building for a close-quarters-combat infantry-only map could be playable, unlike certain other Infantry-only maps. I am curious how a harvester gets replaced at the refinery without a Strip/Weps being on the map.

MVP makes players look to the scoreboard; this makes players familiar with names of which would be the names of regular players; this leads newbies to following regulars by way of familiarity. [Or maybe this was just me in OldRen] You could have MVP be based on K/D ratio instead of score, or just have MVPs 1 & 2, 1: based on overall Score and 2: based on best K/D. No bonuses, just a star on the name next game and a small bit of writing at the end of the game stating "MVP 1: [High Score] Player495 MVP 2: [Best K/D] KrypThe4051" But both players should certainly be put on opposite teams in the following game.

Or expand MVP to "Most Kills this game" "Most points" etc. But the bot already does this, only it just does this in a way that is hard to actually see.

Update: Redesigned centerpiece. Even more places for Infantry whilst I've been reducing mesh proportions. You can now see into the ice-cave from above.

Lazer Wall discussion is for the mining thread, silly. Nothin' to do with this thread. Infantry giving vehicles an actual sense of danger; more frequent EMP Grenades, more Airstrikes, more Smoke and more Frags? Surely more infantry with less timed C4's covering engineers can do more damage with frags, emps and smokes instead of any infantry playing scarper with a tank.

What's the point? Infantry have very little directive outside of "GET INSIDE BUILDING> PLANT C4s> OMG SHOOT EVERYTHING", we've allowed every unit a chance to take down a building and all this did was promote early-game rushes which is great if you're designing every match played to be done via TeamSpeak. Players need a better chance at surviving as infantry, Vehicles need a higher risk of entering into a base full of infantry, the battles need to be more engaging than the pits of canon-fodder they gradually amount to. So every single unit has a Timed C4 charge and so every single unit is a danger to a building, maybe games will be a little bit more manageable with Timed C4 replacements? What if the Timed C4 was removed from most infantry units and was replaced with the option to have a Frag Grenade, EMP Grenade, Smoke Grenade or an Airstrike? Let's face it, when most high-tier infantry get into a building a Timed C4 will usually slow them down or enable the player to cheat themselves a quick building kill. No teamwork required. Why you would ever need teamwork to win in this game to begin with; that's all this implies. Below is a suggested replacement list for the Timed C4. Free infantry (Exception of Engineer)| Flamer: AT-Mine, Grenadier: AT-Mine, [BOTH Teams] Riffleman: Frag Grenade, Shotgunner: Smoke Grenade. T1 Infantry | Officer [BOTH Teams] 1-Plane Airstrike, McFarland: Smoke Grenade, Chem: Smoke Grenade, Rocket Soldier [BOTH Teams]: EMP Grenade. T2 Infantry (Exception of Hotwire/Technician)| Gunner/LCG: 2-Plane Airstrike, SBH: Smoke Grenade, Patch: EMP Grenade, BHS: EMP Grenade, Dead-Eye: Smoke Grenade. T3 Infantry | Havoc: Airstrike, Sakura: Airstrike, Mobius: Smoke Grenade, Mendoza: Airstrike, Sydney: Airstrike, Raveshaw: Smoke Grenade. If it all possible: A 1-Plane, 1 Payload Airstrike would be an ideal replacement for the Officers' Timed C4. A 2-Plane, 2 Payload Airstrike would be ideal for the Gunner/LCG Timed C4 replacement. "Why do SBH only get Smoke Grenades when the Patch gets EMP?" | SBH can get into a base and stay there for as long as until they are caught, a Patch is seen much easier especially when there's more than 3 of them. "BHS with an EMP Grenade? But a Dead-Eye with a smoke?" BHS will have more trouble against GDI vehicles, Dead-Eye faces more trouble from SBH. Remember, Remember, Remember! These units would no longer have Timed C4s.

Ideas in this thread don't appear complicated enough so here's one complicated idea: EMP Grenades could freeze the clock on Timed C4s instead of disarming them, stalling a timed c4 for 10 seconds is just enough leeway for a repairing unit to save a building from complete destruction whilst still giving a chance for that building to take permanent damage. Remote C4s should explode with a 50% damage reduction when EMPd. See it as the EMP triggering the remote detonation sequence making them a danger to everyone nearby. Now if you use an EMP Grenade near an MCT with both remotes and timed charges you'll cause remote damage to the building but the timed c4 will be delayed by 10 seconds, this at least gives a good defensive counter-balance.

>Plus side: Flame tanks take damage when humping and spraying the Barracks >Not-so-Plus side: Flame tanks near your vehicle Edit: Although if a flame tank got too close to another vehicle that would injure the flame tank as well.
-
Perhaps ensure both AGT and Ob can reach what flies too high over the buildings near their respective bases.

You just gotta leave the thing runnin' and then the server don goes an appears in allz gloryholes.
-
One side of the road should be big enough to fit a mammoth tank, that's your scale.

We can only discuss politics if the candidates involved know how to have a civil discussion. Plus, nobody will defend them so this is more of a "talk-shit and post funny vids" thead.
-
We can only be fair if we count maps in the official rotation.

The Weapons Factory produces faster than the Airstrip, doesn't it?

possible to reskin so it can be launched on steam?
Madkill40 replied to brucewilliskillus's topic in Renegade X
To 'reskin' Renegade (bye bye original Ren based maps), the buildings would have to change, all vehicles in shape would have to change, their names change, character name changes, the tiberium changes and so on, then you could release it on Steam for free leaving EA unable to prosecute. If you charge money to get the game then there could still be issues because moneymoneymoney. I don't see re-branding Renegade-X as a practical solution as a way of getting more players, the word 'Beta' is a bigger issue for some players so there's still a publicity push there but that should come after there are enough new maps to play in order to tackle the "Too repetitive" issue, these seem like bigger and more practical solutions. Beyond these two issues there is an undesirable issue with the attitude of the current playerbase. Players trying to learn the game cannot learn the game properly when buildings die within 5 minutes, telling a new player who is trying to learn how to play Renegade-X to go play by themselves on Skirmish is douchey, to assume every player knows what they're doing clearly gets the better of the more experienced players, all experienced players could do with being accommodating to the less-experienced players. (i.e. Don't base kill on Marathon until 15 minutes have passed and give advice on what to do OR play on the AOW server so new players know that Marathon is a 'safer' environment) This could expand the playerbase a bit more. Typically, whilst the newbie players are tanking it out the experienced players are just infiltrating and destroying the left and right of a base by complete surprise, every once in a while this is fine but every game? I miss the eventual pushes of old Ren. Another issue with the attitude of the current playerbase are the EU players' attitude. EU players should quit bitching and whining when the USA players want to move to the USA server around 1am(GMT), EU players refusing to cooperate hurt the Renegade X playerbase, you're isolating the American players who, funnily enough, don't want to play with a high ping -all the time- A USA Prime time focus by filling the USA server after 1am(GMT+0) could be done if the EU players migrated to the USA server, this would at least keep Renegade X consistently played for longer than 7 hours a day and might even expand the playerbase a bit more. TL:DR As much as I enjoy a good bash on EA to assume the most time-consuming task would increase the playerbase is impractical, there's no certain way of knowing that it would work, it is even more impractical to avoid easier and less time-consuming methods beforehand. The word 'Beta'; How long until Renegade X can stop being a Beta? New maps for less repetitive games, should come before removing the word 'Beta' Filling USA server after 1am(GMT+0) [Temporarily] AOW Servers should be 'Hardcore' whilst Marathon servers should be 'Casual' -
If you try to make money off of these you may get hit by EA's lawyers. I really want that Temple of Nod and the ConYards as scenery in maps.

If on Lakeside a little kismet could go ahead to just allow transport helicopters, that'd be nice.
