  1. I already tried to make contact with EA in the past, contact name (in France): Sandra Carneiro. Got redirected by EA Netherlands to her. Did not receive a reply, ever. I said I was planning on making a game with the CNC Intellectual Property in it, was asking for the right procedure in order to get the approval, or get into contact with the right people about this subject. Her email adress is [email protected] if you're interested. I didnt manage to get a phone number (as that would be better I think, calls always speed up the process) So, that's 1 contact you could try. I dont have any US contacts. Maybe you should just call EA support and ask for the right contact person, thats how I got the email adres too! (to bad I didnt get a phone number) As for the steam vs origin discussion; UDK is designed to be used with steam, we can use the steam network with UDK. Therefore its better to release this game on steam and not on origin

I think he's referring to the shadows being very squared, not random black spots in the landscape ( I can't spot them ) @Yagi, the rocks have 3 LOD's, if you move far up the LOD3 state will be triggerd. Try forcing LOD0 in the mesh' properties and then take another screenshot. That'll get rid of the squared shadowing produced by the rocks. If that fails too, you might want to set the lightmapresolution of those rocks to 64 and rebuild lights @ production level. Don't forget to force LOD0 when taking screenshots again though.

  4. No not true, Iontech made the trailer, Action_Hank made the exterior of the ship, Gabriel Maung (www.gmaung.com) the interior I agree on this, but these guys are hard to find. I was very lucky to find someone dedicated enough to create some models for CS and it's ship interior. I think our best chances of finding someone else willing to do this sort of stuff and capable of doing this is very hard. Many people know how to model for example, but they don't know how to unwrap UV's or how to create textures..
  5. Very cool! The scale seems to be about just right! I have a couple of questions though; - Does this map only have 1 vehicle path? I think you could introduce 3 (forrest, narrow path and maybe an ice cave for vehicles through the middle) - Are you using the mountain piek from Rx_Piek? If so, you might want to consider using a different mesh due to the absurd amount of polygons in it (it was about 16.000 I believe?) or scale the amount of polys down with simpligon. - Basalt rocks from mesa in combination with regular rocks... It's an interesting combination but I think you have to think over whether you wish to use this combination or not.. the looks are quite different! - I'd put 1 silo in the middle of the lower vehicle path, gives the teams an objective there. Can't wait to do the first playtest! I think it's good to upload the first version of the map soon to figure out the gameplay (i know it won't be finished but still). Gives you good insights in gameplay on the map
  6. True, true, at first this was a way of indicating which faction went where, it stayed in the game for a long long time and I never really changed it.. The ship is from Nod, hence the big logo in the middle of the room. The 2 faction logo's which point to the entraces of each base were added to give the player guidance only. I can make a nice decal in a next version that'll implement this. Nice thinking, I like it, thanks.

  10. Don't think so? Beachhead takes a long time to compile, be warned. It's a great map though! Latest version is on the test server.

  13. Building lights to fix some UV's that were wrong (prettiness issues) After this I'd like to release the map with the official patches. It's gonna be large though, like 400 MB

  17. I totally agree on this! I really like the layout and foresee a nice gameplay here! I like the 3 vehicle paths a lot! You still have some map dressing to do but that's easily done.. The layout and gameplay are more important, I think you did a great job here. I'll provide more in depth feedback after a testing session

  19. Cool. Please note that the beachhead package has changed. Do not ship this package yourself if you only reference it!! I have already encountered an issue whilst adding this; Please do not ship the package from beachhead with your own files, either create your own package or don't ship it. If we start overwriting each others work (because that's what an auto-downloader will do) maps will only stay broken.. Also note that in your .ini file you forgot to adjust this line below. For now I've fixed it for you (in the map repository and on the server) but you'll have to change the one in your google drive yourself.

    SDK bug?

    Never, EVER do this if you want to delete BSP! It'll Always remain there! This is a really bad idea and you should know that Kenz(!!) If you wish to delete BSP hold CTRL+SHIFT, then click (LMB) on the BSP. It'll light up purple/blue-ish. Then hit DELETE on your keyboard (or right mouse button > select all, then delete). After that, rebuild geometry and you're done.
