  2. I believe the game-sound can easily be modded on the old W3D engine. Just open in RenTools, find the source of packaged sound file and it's filename, and shadow it with a echo-filtered version you made in Audacity, or an equal length file of "pause" (nosound). Or, just turn in-game sound-effects down enough not to be bothered. If we actually did it, I'd make one asap to reduce it if you needed it, so it'd be available early in the week of the PUG. I used to have the skills for such mods, and they've only improved (though woefully out of ratio with the rate that modern game assets and code have evolved, becoming further out of my league everyday).
  3. All I can say, is I was not up last night, but usually am, and have flagged 4 advertisement bots in the last month. It's literally the only reason I'm a moderator, for more night coverage. Though, it's legacy, as before, we used to have to manually delete post, and then post username to an inbox message so a real admin (Agent) can delete user. Now. deleting the post is optional, but the user profile now has "flag profile as spammer", and it automates hiding their messages and locking their messaging privileges until Agent accepts the flag resulting in a user content wipe. The only things I can really say about it, are that bots have no business posting in these forums but can enjoy "lurking", and that this is truly an interesting day and age with programs that simulate human browsing and typing, especially the more sophisticated Google ones that learn profanity from 4chan.
  4. The initial thought I felt others would have, is that it's counter-intuitive to re-skin a game after ANOTHER copyright IP. Just changes the source of problems, from EA, to... who the hell owns GIJoe? I'm assuming Hasbro, but could be very wrong?
  5. You can tweak the durations apart a bit further, it doesn't have to be precise. I am just saying, a weak and infrequent airstrike, won't accomplish de-rooting tanks under repair. I noticed, it already frequently doesn't. Not right now, not without a couple or more. Which is where airstrike spam ensues. If the airstrike lasted longer, there's a bigger opening to push out against tanks. Also, that opening, would be worth more for it's cost. Especially if the cooldown increase is anything too big, like a minute apart. If you increased it by 10 seconds, I suppose it might still be "frequent enough" at current strength. Only two options I see. Increase cooldown by slight amount. Or, increase cooldown by about double, but lengthen the duration of airstrike (even if the same total damage).
  6. HARDLY THE DISCUSSION! Point is, if longer cooldown on airstrike, make airstrikes spread their waves of fire apart more, to last a longer duration without doing additional damage. Even give it an additional wave and additional damage, just to punish people who stood there for 3 bombings, and continued to stand there, but that's just a suggestion.
  7. I did also suggest the "recruit killing a veteran, elite, heroic, ect" bonus as well. Just have a death by a higher veterancy pay out more, and raise next level of veterancy point promotion by the proper maths. I suggested it as "comeback mechanics", along with "longer respawn time" for "higher veterancy", or instead, "longer respawn time' based on "score" or "which team has the higher score". That way, when on full offense, they can't suicide or be killed, and be back at base during the same response for the same threat. Which, is the most annoying thing when a winning team saves their own buildings from an underdog rush of promising threat level. Veterancy Points for higher-ranked enemy kill, Veterancy purchases from destroyed structures, and Veterancy Respawn Time Increase, I think, are all reasonable ideas to reward well-performing players trying to struggle on a losing team, without giving the winning team a handicap for winning, as all those situations still give a winning team the edge in damage and stance.
  8. I was thinking about surfing vehicles. PUG strats, that quite often waste a building very early. Makes no sense for the strategy to be as effective as it is. My opinion? Vehicles, should do (reduced, over time, similar to tiberium) damage, to allies, that are "on top of" or "being pushed by", allied vehicles. EDIT: SUGGESTED BY FFFREAK9999: The push/ride damage should only start after 6 seconds of push/ride, and then be heavy enough not to make it all the way to the other base's structure doors (ballpark guess of 10 damage a second). This way, you could technically still do surfs, just very short timing to load, and they arrive at enemy base at reduced health. Same with pushes, you can push an ally short distances out of enemy fire. If possible, exempt harvesters, though that's hardly a normal concern. Allied would be able to kill other allies, but technically, this already exists with "air surfing", and is considered "killing oneself". It's already like this in Planetside 2 to a greater extreme, so personal responsibility for mild amounts of damage, shouldn't be expecting too much of the player.
  9. I always miss these various threads, but did suggest in at least one other thread, that Veterancy opens up purchaseable units at various cost multipliers. Still no hotwire/tech (as long as associated with Proxy-c4). This way, after an hour, teams still have access to game-ending resources at a handicap, and thus, something to look forward to if they lose a structure but keep scoring damage. Recruit, x2 cost for t1. Elite, x2 cost for t1, x3 cost for t2. Heroic, x1 cost for t1, x2 cost for t2, x3 cost for t3 t1: Humvee, Buggy, Officer, Chem/Farland, Rocket Soldier. t2: APC, MRLS, Light Tank, SBH, LCG, Patch, Gunner, 500 Snipers. t3: Med, Arty, Stank, Flamer, Mammy, Doza, Mobi, Rav, PIC, Havoc, Sak. Note, at elite, this means: -1500 for 500 snipers, 1350 for MRLS, 1800 for Lights, 1200 for Gunner/SBH. At Heroic, this means: -2400 per Med or Flamer, 3k for PIC/Rail, but more importantly, 800 for SBH/Gunner, and 900 for MRLS and 1350 for Arty. (MRLS and Light may seem MisMatch, but both are GDI/Nod's "weaker option" compared to each other's Arty and Med. Nod's best tool is Arty, GDI's is Med, so both get MRLS/Lights at lower tier.)

  11. E.g.: IF current airstrike drops 3 waves of A10 with 3 seconds apart, make airstrike drop them 5 seconds apart. So, airstrike covers a 10 second window, from first bombing, to last. I only suggested it, because if you get less frequent airstrikes, the airstrike better do a better job of denying repairs during the time it's out. It even gives repairs more time to respond to flee from the next airstrike hit. Either way, less frequent airstrikes, mean a poorly-called airstrike or one simply not called in the "heat of battle" and wasted elsewhere, is a more extreme team-hamper.
  12. Slightly, slightly stronger airstrike, with increased cooldown. Not even "stronger", but stretch the "duration" of the airstrike to last "longer", and then increase the airstrike "cooldown" to 60 seconds. "12 seconds of airstrike every 60 seconds, is better than 6 seconds of airstrike every 30 seconds." ~ Most airstrike-kills last PUG on Walls, with 7.
  13. I'd prefer APB because of it's fundamental differences, but Reborn wouldn't be too bad.
  14. LAUNCHER update? Can you start the game, and see the server browser in-game, if you manually open Renegade-X/Binaries/Win32/UDK.exe? I could recommend deleting Launcher folder and reinstalling Launcher folder from the Download link at top of webpage, if it's the launcher. If it's the game, or if download for game says "Pending" without verifying, then you need to see existing troubleshooting which are all filled with a recent fix. You'll know it when you see it, it's a BAT file download.
  15. Was a shame the wins didn't go back and forth. Always in favor of trading both teams 3 of their better players, to see some rebalance. As well as, giving the team who's losing frequently, the "spare player" if odd number.
  16. Should that fail, download Schmitz's BAT file from this thread, put it into the "Renegade X/Launcher", then "RightClick" and "Edit" and change the URL-end from "5281" to "5282b".
  17. It's cost-ineffective, isn't the most survivable 1k unit, and the building damage is really an anti-stalemate solution. So, to answer your question: Doza's bad at being affordable. I still remember a PUG where GDI wiped a Nod base on Islands with Bar/Ref using Mobius rush, while Nod had all it's structures, because final 3 minutes came along and both teams rushed, but GDI outdamaged Nod. Recently, Doza actually received some nerfs against [EDIT: what I was just informed is actually Kevlar], and spread (aligned with Mobius to miss a lot at longer ranges).

  20. Check the common bugs and fixes post? You might need to update DirectX, VC, and other dependencies. It could also be Unreal choosing the integrated instead of dedicated graphics, so it'd help to know what PC specs, OS, Ram, CPU, GPU, ect, and if you play any other Unreal3 based games.

  22. What is exactly the problem with update? Do you have RenX Launcher V.65? Not game, but Launcher inside the Launcher folder. If not, delete existing "launcher" folder, and download newest from Downloads page, into the RenX directory but not in Binaries. It'll create the "Launcher" folder. If you have LauncherV.65, then does it say "update found: 5282"? If so, does it say "Verify: Not Started" and "Download: Pending"? If that is the case, then this fix applies to you:
  23. Assuming you downloaded the BAT file, you must be specific on following instructions. You need to download the BAT file, place in folder of Launcher, and THEN RIGHT-CLICK AND SELECT "EDIT", and change the URL line to one of the listed ones. The BAT file by default has 5.281 links. You need to insert a 5.282b link.
  24. I am told recently that newbies have plenty of luck with saturday games. That should mean, as long as you respond to voice/text chat, when asking for vehicles, or a specific infantry type, or to quickly meet up at a structure to mass-rush a base, then you're golden. You don't need to be "skillful", just "cooperative with team". E.g.: You hear in voice chat "really guys? We're down to 4 vehicles, they're about to get the field. (You immediately grab a tank and healer). E.g.: You hear in voice chat "we're losing tanks too fast, we need more field repairs". (You do your part by grabbing a healer and jumping into the most recently built tank, or getting your own). E.g.: We need to put pressure on the infantry path so they ease up on the field. (you follow instructions to gunner-rush, knock a building to low health or get a kill, and they go on the defense). E.g.: Do not fire at Ref, I'm inside. (and/or) Vehicles move into their base and fire one salvo at AGT and then hit bar! (You drive into their base and sacrifice your vehicle, shooting AGT once and then firing hardcore onto the bar, you drive up to bar entrance and try to run in. While you do so, their Ref dies from infiltration, you having distracted). E.g.: We don't have field, so don't buy a mammy. (Don't buy a mammy, buy several meds, and have all meds drive out in conga and overpower the enemy's vehicles). You do not need a mic afaik, just TS3. You can q-spot or text-chat, as long as you can respond to voice-chat. These rules may have changed though. 3: Prior to the game's start, everyone connects to TS3 for a server password, and then the password-locked game-server, usually on map "field", and the building-healths are locked via new game feature. You can't blow up buildings anyway, but prior to this, 1 person was perm-banned for doing it blatantly after being asked and warned not do.
