  1. This is an alternative download page! not official Site update: 06.08.2020 ################################################################################### https://renegade-x-download.net/ https://renegade-x.com/forums/topic/74913-installationupdate-aid-need-help/ -LG iTweek https://renegade-x-download.net/
  2. Hi people, I'm having big problem with the installation of the latest release, actually the first time I try to play this game. After downloading about 10MB of the Renegade X launcher I executed it. It opens a window where three progress bars appear, "Validating" "Downloading" and "Applying". After validating process ends the launcher starts to download the 5.6GB game, then, after a long download time it starts something related to the direct X 9 installation. Then without reason it closes the windows (maybe after i click on "finish" or something like that) but the "applying" phase doesn't start at all. If I double-click the launcher again it stars all over again, validating-->downloading-->direct X installation but after loosing another huge amount of time still the applaying phase doesn't come. I tried 3 times so far. Nothing changes. 5.6GB of files are downloaded on my hard disk on the "download" subfolder of the main "renegade X" folder under "programX86" directory. Please help me to find out why I can't install the game.
  3. Hi there, Just trying to set up a new server, and found out, that if define a https download mirror for the maps, the game doesn't use it, it bypasses to the servers internal download method.
Danke i vorraus für eventuelle Hilfe. Euer DemonSlasher
  5. --------- 3-3-17 Added notes that state these settings are now included in the release. --------- 28-2-17 Added basic powershell script for syncing files to webserver. --------- 27-2-17 Changed notes section that refers to pure connections to point to 10KBps fix. --------- 19-2-17 Added cache section. --------- This setup/fixes the builtin downloader to let players download maps from servers own repository. This solves the 30 second reset problem that currently happens. === TESTING === As a player/client, you can test this by connecting to the shrewd gaming server. As a server, make sure that you apply the client steps to any clients you connect with. Video: (I forgot to mention in the video that it does take more then 30 seconds, which is what the current issue causes it to reset to 10kbps) Copy the sections inbetween the lines (don't copy the lines themselves). ----------------------------------------------------------- (section to copy) ----------------------------------------------------------- ====== ON Server ===== Note: These settings are included by default in public releases of Renegade X. 1. In Renegade X\UDKGame\Config\UDKEngine.ini below the [IpDrv.UdpBeacon] section create this section block: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [IpDrv.HTTPDownload] RedirectToURL=http://www.edtnint.net/renx/maps/ UseCompression=False ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RedirectToURL= ;url to redirect to. Must have trailing slash. Doesn't work with alternative ports (must be port 80). UseCompression= ;are the files compressed ===== ON Client ====== NOTE: These settings are included by default in public releases of Renegade X. 1. We need to change the timeout on the client to be longer. You can choose either option to change this: Option 1: Type into the console ingame: set IpDrv.HTTPDownload ConnectionTimeout 12000 Option 2: In Renegade X\UDKGame\Config\UDKEngine.ini under the IpDrv.UdpBeacon section create this section block: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [IpDrv.HTTPDownload] ConnectionTimeout=12000 ProxyServerPort=0 ProxyServerHost= ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ConnectionTimeout ;how long in seconds the client can spend downloading before timingout. Can be very high, as the client isn't taking up a player slot while downloading maps. ProxyServerPort ;the clients web proxy port ProxyServerHost ;the clients web proxy IP 2. Under the [Core.System] section in the same UDKEngine.ini file, change these settings to the following values: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [Core.System] StaleCacheDays=365 MaxStaleCacheSize=10000 MaxOverallCacheSize=100000 PackageSizeSoftLimit=2000 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This stops the UDK builtin cache cleaner for wiping downloaded content. The defaults were good for 10 years ago when the engine was released, but its no where near good now. Content in the cache is simply the package(map, script, udk package), renamed with its GUID. You can look into the cache.ini file and find the real name of each cache package, and then simply rename it and move it to its proper location in udkgame if you like, but it isn't a necessity . StaleCacheDays ; How long in days until an unused file is marked as stale. MaxStaleCacheSize; How much content in MB can be considered stale before being deleted. MaxOverallCacheSize; How much content in MB can be in the cache before being deleted, old files first. PackageSizeSoftLimit; Individual max package size in MB. ====== On Webserver =========== On the url you provided, dump all your files into the ROOT of the folder. NO subfolders. This can be anything, maps files, characters, effects, sounds,,, everything under UDKGame\CookedPC I have a script that syncs the cookedpc folder and the webfolder. So that im only maintaining one folder on the server, knowing that if the server can see it, the players will be able to aswell. Remember, on iis to enable the mime types (the files types) for the udk files. For example, create these new mime types: .udk application/octet-stream .u application/octet-stream .upk application/octet-stream Basic Powershell Sync Script ========== NOTES ================ -Current issue: It currently doesnt automatically download the next map, it just drops players to the main menu. They can then reconnect and get the next map. I'm looking into what can be done about this. Right now, when players see the "loading map" message on the end game screen, it starts to download the next map, then the client connects to the server and the server seems to kill it. I'm thinking its a code issue and not a config issue at this point. I'm going through the code to find out. -The pure server connection uses the per client data rate. See the following post for the config settings: -Files downloaded via the ingame downloader will end up in the UDKGame\Cache folder.
  6. Not even 24 hours in the last Launcher beta and @yosh56already found another 'pending' error. New beta up, please re-download if you have launcher version 0.66 If you get virus warning, it's a false positive again. Here's the virusTotal scan report. >>Report<< Hi all, Schmitz here with another iteration of "Buggy beta Launcher builds!™" There are 2 major new things in this Launcher: First iteration of the IRC client Improved server selection algorithm (No more 'pending' on downloading updates! Really this time ) IRC client The Irc client will connect you to the RenX irc channel so you can chat with other peeps that are also logged in. Perhaps filling a server will be a little bit easier now. Improved server selection algorithm As you all might have noticed, the download of updates and full game releases wasnt very reliable. Without going in to much details: I noticed that our Atlanta servers were down, but the Launcher wanted to download from it. So what was the problem? Cloudflare... Anyway on with the install stuff. I am in no way responsible for creepy clowns crawling out your pc or you pc giving you the middel finger while running this So what do you need to do to run this? A friendly warning: Don't overwrite your current Launcher with this one! First you'll need the Launcher files >>here<< Then you need to extract the "LauncherBeta" folder into your Renegade X folder (Don't look at the dates, old screenshot) Start the Launcher by double clicking "Renegede X Launcher.exe".(Again, don't look at the dates, old screenshot) If all went well it should say in the top "V0.67" (Don't mind the screenshot, it's an older one I re-use just to show where the number is.) Check all the settings 'n stuff and try to run the game and report any errors here. -Schmitz out Current Bugs: -Intromovies not checking/unchecking correctly -Cancellation of downloads not working directly, but after the single download finished -The initial time to start a update/download can take a bit longer then normal (But should in no way take ages)
  7. hello guys, I installed the client from offical website and after that the downloading always stops at 3.318GB, any fixes? thanks!
  8. Is there a public list of the maps that are currently available via seeker? This would be handy for server admins so they know what maps are automatically downloaded. Also does the seeker handle just maps, or does it handle mutilators as well?
  9. ###### NEW POLL ###### <iframe src="http://www.strawpoll.me/embed_1/12001740" style="width:680px;height:407px;border:0;">Loading poll...</iframe> <iframe src="http://www.strawpoll.me/embed_1/12001854" style="width:680px;height:449px;border:0;">Loading poll...</iframe> (In case I messed up) https://www.strawpoll.me/12001740 https://www.strawpoll.me/12001854 Get 7zip here (compatible with .RAR, .7z, and many other formats!) Info about it here Something I stated in another thread, but didn't realize until after that this is the proper location for that discussion. I'm not sure if I'm correct, but it may be possible for you to be able to create a new updated torrent files with your updated files (when you update the game) with any with already existing/old files that don't need replacing, which would help with saving bandwidth. Something else I hadn't mentioned that I just remembered, was another method that could potentially be useful. A file syncing program called "Resilio Sync" https://www.resilio.com/ , which does have that option, as it only relies on the independent files, as opposed to a "torrent hash" (which is created on each torrent creation). EDIT: Oh, by the way, please do not use utorrent. It's riddled with ads, and was bought out several months ago. Here's a list of torrent clients https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_BitTorrent_clients and the 2 I personally have used after utorrent hit the fan https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deluge_(software) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tixati EDIT2: Another useful thing is having a direct (or indirect, like on MEGA or mediafire) link to the zipped [preferably using maximum compression] update(s), as those are easier to download than through the launcher. At least in my experience.
