  1. As far as I know, EKT accepts vehicle surfing as a tactic. As Nod, it's way easier to do so by stanks and SBHs surfing especially in whiteout. This makes it possible for certain building roofs to be accessible beyond the normal use of ramps, such as the powerplant. I've pleaded many times that this is a serious bug and should not be accepted, but both EKT and TmX have decided against that and said something along the lines of: "This is an advanced tactic resulted from stalemates and to break those stalemates. As this is possible in the current build, we will allow it. As soon as the Devs fix this issue and stated in the changelogs that it should be possible anymore, we will enforce the issue as unacceptible." Which in my opinion is b%llcr#p because it's just an exploit. As for the warfactory: Also, heli's can fly over wayyyyyyy above the base as high as it goes with an SBH passenger. The passenger ejects above a building and lands invisibly on top without touching the mines. Airstrip roof beacon. Walk up the ramp and jump through the glass, place the beacon on that ridge behind the ramp leading to the roof. It's unaccessible from the ground or roof, but you can still reach it when you follow that route the hotty took. Watch out for mines though, as the hotty will defend that beacon with mines and C4.
  2. Somehow I have not seen this topic soon enough, but here is my experience on the topic. Some time ago I joined the TmX server when it's empty and also joining the TmX TS server for small talks etc. The idea was to join the TmX server to get it filled up. Meanwhile we just played, goofed around and have some fun finding out some tactical routes and locations for the future full-game matches. After some time, the server gradually filled a bit, 4v4 matches of 6v6 matches were quite good. What I noticed was the following. Lets take a look at the top 4 players. Player 1 leading the board with 3k points, player 2 with 2k, player 3 with 1.5k and player 4 with 1k. Players 3 and 4 being on team 2 while players 1 and 2 were on team 1 (winning, hence the greater score) The following match (provided no one crashed, which no one did) player 1 and 2 were on opposing teams. What I tried to find out was if the amount of points made a difference. Lets say players 2, 3 and 4 had a combined total points equal to player 1 which resulted in them joining 1 team vs player 1 in the other team (provided there are enough other players to get equal amounts e.g. 4v4 of 6v6) I had the impression that the game already has some balancing system in place but it takes records from the previous game points list. Imo this skews the actual balance in 20v20 games as continuously shooting at the buildings with an arty while being repaired by an engineer/tech does not require much skills but does produce loads of points. On a note, as soon as people join the new game, you are free to switch teams provided it doesnt result in a difference of more than 1. E.g. GDI has 8 and Nod has 9, GDI player cannot switch to Nod but a Nod player can switch to GDI. This often happens when one of the teams have the TmX of EKT clan players in them, naturally having a better teamplay integrity, winning the game. Next round they are scattered between teams trying to join 1 team again makes it hard when 2 or more people try it at the same time. It helps to join the weaker team (GDI on most maps without base defense) as there are bound to be players trying to join the stronger team for a certain map. Teamwork tactics (rushes to different goals) will in that case outweigh the faction advantage (stealth infiltrations, SBH-C4 or nukes). Anyway, on the topic, I have the feels that the game already has a balancing system, based on the players score previous round.
  3. First and foremost, I am no authority on this forum, so don't quote me as "but he said I could". Read the forum rules, it's in this General forum section, one of the rules is common sense and maturity. It's common sense not to put links in your signature for advertising purposes, others have linked other forums or websites to other games in their signature and have yet to be removed, IF thats against the rules. So in short, look around the forums and check out individual signatures to determine (by using common sense) if yours are acceptible.
  4. I like your sarcasm However, this isnt what I meand. I mean, the more the better right? Well, Renegade X is a game UNLIKE any other and is played UNLIKE any other. I'm a casual player in regards to gaming in it's entirety. The RenX community likes the way RenX is, the game shouldn't change because it appeals to the larger masses. As far as I can gather the opinions of the Devs, RenX is RenX and plays like RenX and not any other FPS games. The Devs are fans of the old C&C Renegade, back from 2002. It's been many years developing this game since then to come to this point, ALL in their free time, unpayed for their work. I have no worries the Devs will chang anything to the game "just to appeal to the masses". Thats right, C&C Renegade fans are developping this game. When people realize that, any suggestions made to appeal to the larger mass will backfire unless it's deemed a great addition to the RenX gameplay. Sure some adjustments are needed to make it "feel" better and those suggestions may come from other FPS games, but it doesn't mean they should.
  5. Adding to that, when your team's refinery is destroyed, obtaining the silo will yield a small monetary gain over time (tick)
  6. I remember 1 game from the old ren marathon, I believe it was Under. The game was a stalemate from the start, after 2 hours I quit to go to bed. The next morning I went back to check the game and it was still on! a solid 8 hours of 1 map! Thats the good old fun! Even more wonderfull (sorry) Vanilla World of Warcraft had this PvP zone called Alterac Valley. Back in the days, a single Alterac Valley game lasted for days or weeks even. It was a continuous tug-of-war without end. I enjoy those kind of stalemates, but when a team wins due to a glitch, thats sooooo off-putting, it ruins the fun for me. The "casuals" as you say, get bored after 10 minutes. But a solid game plan or tactic isn't set up in 10 minutes. These "casuals" are regarding Renegade X as "just another FPS" which HAS to be fast-paced and must end within a certain amount of time, like (yes I bring this up again!) CoD or BF4. RUN SHOOT KILL CAP DIE RUN SHOOT KILL CAP DIE RUN SHOOT KILL CAP DIE. Renx isn't like that at all, sure it is sort of fast paced, but the teams (GDI and Nod) are so different they require tactics and no head-on-engagements.
  7. I couldn't get this out of my mind the second I've read it and tried to read the rest. This part got stuck, somehow. -Glitched beacon sigh-
  8. Come to think about it, I should have known. Here's a little puzzle: An engineer (Nod) walks into a bar(racks), he asks the patrons where the register is. After being shown where to place the bombs, he quickly runs out to find the building not being destroyed but left with 20% of the walls intact. After thinking about it, you'd know that 3 bombs make 80% damage. When a timed C4 does 40%, the other 2 remotes must do also 40% (=20% each)
  9. Its for all the servers, even the public ones. Regularly TheMatrixRen(TmX), EKT and Rencorner servers are the ones with people on it. Mostly TmX and EKT. If you do not have much time to play, here is a list about these 3 servers. EKT has a marathon server (no time limit) (80 mines) owner = EKT clan TheMatrixRen has a 1 hour time limit server (45 mines, up since recently from 40) owner = TmX Rencorner has a 30 minute time limit server (30 mines) owner = Volcom, server settings are as designed. Beacons take 60 seconds to go off, 50 seconds of which is the disarm window, last 10 seconds are to run away from the blast. A single Engineer can disarm this beacon in .... 20-30 seconds? Sometimes its hard to aim for the beacon in 3rd person mode. A timed C4 does 400? Means you'd need quite a few to kill a mammoth, 2 would kill a medium tank, 1 would kill a buggy/humvee/MLRS/Artillery/Any infantry(1k chars have 250heatlh+100armor) NOTE that a timed C4 on the exterior of a building does 10% damage while on a MCT it does 40% total building damage. Remote C4 does less damage, atleast to buildings (20% or 30% on a MCT?)
  10. I think you mean "RecordDemo". This command will record ALL game changes, for 2 minutes and stores it as a file to be viewed just like a spectator in a live match. But with this recorddemo command you can pause, replay, switch perspectives, look at anything from any angle. Server owners/admins can issue this command aswel, but for the entire length of the match. When a recorddemo is already initiated, yours will not be started, though the demo is already recorded, so no problems there. Just notify an admin of your issued command and they will send it to the devs. If the player is found to be cheating, IP bans are not uncommon (also stated by a dev in the original post about this command) This community is quite hard against cheaters, and people willing to play this game for fun, just as the devs are creating this game out of love!, there is no room for cheaters/hackers. For all I care, cheating is punishable by "death". Death as in, unable to play again. On topic: Back when I played with 4gb RAM, I found it unplayable. As I needed to upgrade my GFX card and windows version anyway (had 16gb but 32bit win doesnt support that) only then I realy started to enjoy the game, despite the crashes ... just play around them. Accept that it happens, reload the game and continue. Only takes 15 seconds anyway.
  11. 1: Are you sure it's a pistol and not a sakura/havoc/sydney/raveshaw/deadeye/blackhand sniper that uses their main weapon in hip-fire mode? 1 shot kill with a pistol (even headshot) might be a cheat, but then again, the pistol for 75 credits does loads more damage than the standard one. Might do the trick, I dunno. 2: I also notice other players handling vehicles better than myself, not nescesarily a cheat, just need more practise and an understanding how to aim with a flamer I guess. My experience: 1 flamer rolls through 2 meds and 2 MLRS without a hickup, when I try to do that, not a dent (or burn mark for that matter) is made 3: Skill, just pure skill. Part of a good sniper especially counter sniping is to aim for the head and only shoot when you are confident you hit, because a miss will spook the target and looks for cover to see where you are. In CQB it's also loads of luck and a feel for aiming at the head when in hip-fire-mode with a sniper/pic

  13. Don't get me wrong! A steam release would be helpful, as any other means of spreading the RenX word to gain support and community! I only replied with these points to end the endless discussion about topics that aren't worth writing about ... Talking about a steam release when some of the dev team are opposing that, or not meeting the terms just ends that discussion all together. Some discussions are just not worth it, just like being negative about the progress (see get-a-grip's posts) We should talk about some constructive thinks, like discussing tactics, bugs/glitches which are not supposed to be used or should be penalized before they are fixed. Constructive things to build up the community, not useless, senseless or negative things ... Here, I'll start: GDI is getting progressively better at defending against SBH infiltrations. Just today, a 3 SBH tagteam with a stank support infiltrated GDI on whiteout. GDI had 3 Orca's defending the base and 4-6 hotwires while attacking the Nod base ... If it wasnt for the team effort of Nod artillery, bombarding the WF first, then setting off 3 nukes (powerplant and 2x at ref) WF got repaired to 100%, changed bombarding target to Bar (got killed) while 1 of the ref nukes (mine) was diffused, the other 2 killed pp and ref ... WF was last to stand, but as GDI was busy disarming nukes, WF got low repairs and got killed soon after. If it wasnt for that team-effort as such, GDI had massed a huge fleet or orca's (atleast 7 were build at the time) and destroyed Nod base. Few ions went off as well My point being, this community is growing in terms of teamwork and coordination! I like that! it's shitloads better than having only a handfull players carrying the entire team. Let alone when those handfull get to join 1 team and obliterates the other team...
  14. Please don't forget what I wrote next, I don't think the Terms for greenlight are met
  15. not true you can put free games on greenlight well whats left of the greenlight service (look for free games on steam most of them are from greenlight But greenlight requires a payment of 90,- euro, perhaps 1 of the devs or the community is willing to cough up 90 euro's to buy a greenlight submission fee (which is not directly related to RenX, thus possible) 1 of the terms required to place a game on greenlight, is the licence to sell that game. Another term is you cannot place an item or game that belongs to anyone else. 16. Dream on people! Steam is not going to happen I've heard! In order to get a steam release, you'd need some form of monitizing the game, which is NOT ALLOWED! due to the agreement with EA. So, get Steam out of your heads! Besides, I think some Devs are against releasing it on Steam to begin with ... So please, stop with the Steam arguement. @N3tRunn3r the reason for locking the other topic was due to get-a-grip's negative attitude against the game and devs, please do not follow his footsteps. If you want news, read the final 2 replies of that same topic you started, otherwise, take a look at Kenz3001's video's about the making of volcano. He alone has logged way more than 40 hours FREE/SPARE TIME just making THAT map. Seriously, devoting that much time to a free game is considered a hobby, but can also be regarded as an obsession. Either way, you or anyone else pushing/stressing the devs is not going to work, only patience is. I'd much rather play a game with 40-50-60 people who regularly play and are the core of the community, than to have 1000's of people playing this game and don't know shit and screw up your team's tactics (like e.g. mine limit) Those people still filling up that 1 server are waiting, patiently waiting untill the new patch/version, others are not playing but waiting behind the screens. I bet that when beta 3 comes out, more than 3 servers will be FULL (40/40) and others 10/40 or 20/40. Your negativity (and get-a-grip's too) will only scare the potentials away. Your own topics are the cause of what you are afraight of ... Rather have a dead forum than a forum filled with scare-topics
  17. Hi and welcome! I recommend to set all graphics settings to minimal. When I had windows 7 32 bit version, I could only play with 2 CPU cores and 3.5 gb RAM. Even with lowest settings, the game stuttered unplayably (for me). But there was a bug so I had to tweak for the game to use only 1 core (the solo play game). Had to do with communication problems between the cores, more people had this issue. Note that 4gb is the minimal RAM required but I think for this game, the more the better. I got 16gb myself. GPU is a GeForce 660 GTX with 2gb RAM, made to run on windows 8, but running windows 7 64 bit and runs perfectly. Processor: Intel Core i7 3.40 GHz, 4 cores; task manager showing 8. From time to time, without overclocking, my PC shuts down for overheating. With these settings though, I play on medium to high settings and resolution at over 1200x1000. Some folk tell me to run at 1900x1600 but nahhh
  18. As an indication what it will cost you: I bought a PC off a friend the other day, as I needed upgrading my old rig (5+ years old) €250,- for an Intel i7, 4 cores (although task manager shows 8) with 4x 4gb RAM strips (Kingston). He got a better/newer one from his work so he was selling this one to me when he heard I was looking for a new one. I needed a new windows 7 64bit licence (for €90,-) 32bit would not detect the 16gb RAM, only 3.5. RenX ran terrible on that. I added a Coolermaster (550Watts) PSU (for €30,-) I added a Gigabyte GeForces 660 GTX GPU (for €150,-) NOTE: the cooling unit (2 monster fans and massive copper tubes) makes it you'll need a double PCI-E slot to fit it in, so no minitowers or any other small rigs for this badass GPU. Total price new rig: 250+150+90+30=€520,- which will last me atleast 3 years as I normally will not buy new games I do not know. RenX is perfect, I know my rig handles it well (high graphics) and it's fun play, so why play other games when I'm satisfied, yeh?
  19. Hi, some feedback for Walls: Flying map. Players are able to "climb" the rocks on the sides of the map and shoot/snipe inside the base just passed and over the wall. I don't consider this a bug of a glitch, but it seems to me the way people are climbing that wall, wasn't intended. Might need a design fix to prevent that. When I am on the middle top, I find the amount of dust whirling up distracting a lot. It seems to me that the amount of sand being blown up by the wind is larger than the amount of sand actually present (it's not a sand dune but a rocky mountain). Also, it can obscure the player vision a lot, making it harder to follow a target of even keep tabs on it as the sand can get so dense, it's impossible to see the target, espessially when that target is on a building, making out the head from the rest of the building is quite hard. Near the walls, on either side of either Nod or GDI, it is possible to fall through a rock and get stuck in a rock, out of vision for every other player. Unable to get out of it other than suiciding. I haven't tried shooting anyone in that position to see if it can be abused that way. Regards, Trux
  20. As far as I know, there are servers for every taste: -RenCorner server for 30 minutes time limit with a 30 mine limit. Owner: Volcom (US) -TmX server for 1 hour time limit with a 40 mine limit. Owner: TmX clan (EU) -EKT server for infinite time limit with an 80 mine limit. Owner: EKT clan (EU?) For every server mentioned above, I have no lag, no latency issues playing from The Netherlands. I admit, I am also one of those people who mainly chooses a server based on current population. However, more often than not, I am also joining the TmX server even though it's empty. Play a few rounds (solo, with 1 or 2 others) and people start pooring in. It stagnates a bit at 10-12 but slowly and gradually it fills up, one has just got to be the first and willing to invest some time into it in order to fill it up. Normally TmX members would do that. I do the above more often now because I played 1 game on EKT server, started on 11:00 pm midgame. As I joined the team that was ahead (destroyed opposing ref) I thought, this game wouldnt last that long. Untill 10 minutes after joining, the opposing team destroyed our ref (sneaky engi infiltration) Now, this game lasted untill 1:30am and was very engaging and fun to play in (I totally forgot about the time even though I needed to work the next day ), even though some of those regular shits trying to get a map-change-vote passed, eventually it did. It was on a non-basedefense-map ... please do not play marathon servers if you are not willing to put effort in ending the map yourself!!
  21. Or you could just place trust in the devs who have been busy making this game as is, for the passed couple years (starting with the UT mod leading up to the standalone) to come through. Even if this game is doomed to fail, the core, the people who love renegade, they will play untill the last server goes offline. And even then, they might revert back to the original renegade for gameplays sake rather than playing graphically enhanced, next gen shit games, which are "generated" by moneygrubbing conglomerates, to make money and appeal to the masses. Yeah, 99.75% of the people reject this game (according to you that is, who else sais it's true...) but this isnt a game made for the masses by a money grubbing conglomerate to make money, now is it? So sit back, relax and come back in a year. If the game is viable to live during that time, most likely updates and newer versions have come out, if not, then and only then you can say: well, tough luck, i'm moving on. It's like waiting for a game in alpha state. It takes atleast 1-2 years to properly develop it into a beta and then some more years to develop it into a full bug-free release. That is why it is a BETA game and not a full release. Devs are doing a great job without getting paid but still investing a load of time and effort. Why do people want to talk down on people beats me ... World is much better off with some positivity
  22. Nice to know, but it doesnt explain the crashing when you are sieging/destroyed the last building for the passed 5 minutes.
  23. Oh Lord ... this guy is officially on my ignore list. SBHs are OP as they are now and you want them to be MORE invisible?! you must be one of those nerds who join Nod as soon as they are able, to play SBH. It's too easy now to infiltrate GDI base, you want to make it even easier? Damn, you have no love for GDI, do you?
  24. On the other hand, most infantry activity tends to be in the tunnel section in the old ren, a silo where the bunker is would devide that activity more in other directions of the field. What I would like to add is, in the old ren, Nod had chemsprayer units that were unaffected by tiberium radiation. I don't know if they still are (did not test it) in RenX, but that did allow for that 2nd infantry passage (chem rush through tibfield)
