I didnt mean force as in the hard meaning of the word forcing, but more so that "If you want free stuff, you can get this 'n' that" Side effect of hotwire/tech tokens is the fact they repair ... repairing --> credits/points --> they buy something they want after they helped the team When i just join a server, i take engineer every time to repair and generate credits in order to buy what i realy want. same thing, they are not "forced" to take the free humvee or the free hotwire, they can buy the mlrs too when they have the $$ for it ... i see no harm

  3. tired of trying to play. Crash 4 seconds after map finished, selecting new maps. Crash during the voting period (it didnt end yet!)   4. If that feature is to be added, some people would argue to do the same for the characters. For example, you feel there are not enough hotwires/techies in the field or in the base, buy those tokens so others have an additional "free" character. I still see many players getting out of the vehicle in the field, repairing it and at 90% an SBH steals it. I still see many players (on Nod) driving back to base and yelling they want to be repaired. Buy an engineer or techy and repair yourself maybe?!

  6. Tank shells were modded in to counter the endless sieges at under and field maps in the old ren by bypassing the vehicle cap in that sense. If that is to happen in ren x, some other things would have to be changed as well because it is harder to stop a well led rush of 7 tanks now than it was in the old ren. On top of that, they have limited the player amount and vehicle amount to reduce vehicle lag. Adding more vehicles by shelling get that issue back seriously. Do note, I DO like to have tank shells in the game, but they should become objects you cannot walk through (as in the old ren) as long as they are shells. Plus the amount of shells maybe put a max on that (2x the vehicle cap?) Weapon drops is another thing I'd like to see in ren x. The solo play ren x also dropped weapons/armor/health when you killed enemies, would be nice to bring that to the multiplayer game too. Limiting weapons as the solo game too (no more than 2 primary weapons, switchable upon pressing "G")
  7. I thought you were there with that match I was talking about Omega. GDI lost ref and took some time for GDI to take down the airstrip. NOD got lucky crates getting a stank and a medium tank. The above discussion was before the HON went down. Maybe you joined after i dunno, but was same game. Discussion ended when HON went down after GDI lost both WF and pp due to this bug/glitch described above.
  8. Hi! Last night I had a fierce discussion on TheMatrixRen server whilst being GDI on the "Walls: Flying" map. At that moment a few moderators were online and they were not on 1 page concerning a special tactic that can be regarded as bug abuse. Amongst them were Yosh (ingame) and Sean (on IRC). The problem: On either side of the wall, there is this ramp that is accessible from within the base, but not from outside the base (or shouldn't be) unless you drive a vehicle there with some infantry on top, jumping on that smaller wall section. Well the discussion was that Nod was able to do that several times unseen (by moving a stank with a few SBHs on top) and I was regarding that as bug/glitch abusing. Some of the players agreed with me, some did not. What I want to know is if the Devs think this is glitch/bug abusing or just an inventive tactic to reach into the enemy base. The counter agruement from some was that GDI was also able to do this, so it's not a bug or a glitch as both teams are able to do that. I feel the problem lies here: Nod can do it invisibly, forcing GDI to actively guarding 4!! base entrance area's rather than the 2 standard ones (tunnel and the mayor gate) to intercept the invisibles. GDI cannot do this invisibly, so Nod can simply report it to the team easily what the team is trying to do, so Nod has a more passive approach of defending the base compared to GDI. I feel that the difference in defensive measures are so much different, that it should be regarded as a bug/glitch abuse. Other counter arguement was (amongst others): SBHs get in the base through tunnels or main entrance anyway, so why bother dubbing this tactic as illegal? Just defend the buildings more properly by smart-mining. Yeah ... smart mining stops the multi-nuke-spam ... right When you have to guard 2 entrances against SBHs, it's way easier than to guard 4 entrances against SBHs ... I want to know what the Devs have to say about that tactic: Wall jumping using a vehicle. Intended or not? I want to know the general opinion of the community about this: Advanced tactic or glitch/bug abusing?   9. 1 comment: nubjet/noobjet/etc in the old ren referred to a SBH carrying a ramjet rifle. As the SBH is invisible as long as he does not aim, he can be standing in plain sight trying to aim at a player and right after shooting, taking cover untill he's invisible again, aka the nub-way of sniping in maps like walls. I not tend to use nubjet in renx as I affiliate the term with SBHs, since it's impossible to pick up a weapon in renx, i stick with sniper/sak/havoc
  10. Tokens are a great idea! Better than donating $$ for that "stank rush" or "flame rush" or "mammy rush" Some people abuse the $$ to buy something completely different than that of why they are getting the money for. Last time on Mesa as GDI, our ref got attacked by an SBH, for some reason the AGT didn't kill em. He managed to steal an MLRS behind the ref and got it down to 30% before we destroyed it! Immagine if he'd had a nuke! Empty vehicles are a pain! For the $$ donating system, I think it's a bit cumbersome as you require to press and hold CTRL then press a letter (for the donating menu) and then looking up a 4 digit code for the player you want to donate to in a large list which is only partially visible due to the text box followed by the number of credits to donate. Even when you leave with credits in your purse, leaving wont distribute the remaining $$ regretfully. I do not know of any other way to donate $$ other than that in RenX. In the old ren people used to type: !d ((partially)player name) (amount donated) It should be made a bit easier in RenX so people tend to use it more often.

    Satisfying

    Hi all, I usually check the forums before play to see/learn the opinions of others and the development of the game. I begin with checking the topics I've posted in to followed by the general forum. I must say that even though I feel it's the Devs throwing a bone at the mob, I'm satisfied with the fact of the work being done by them! Some posts lately by Nielsen for example with an ETA on new maps: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=73285&start=45 It shows me that they are realy working hard on the development of the game with the limited resources and time they have to do it in. Even this map, Goldrush. Check out what Nielsen has to say in this topic: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=73365 I think that if the Devs are working on certain issues with which the community is struggling, it would be nice to have some sort of confirmation that they are working on it. For me atleast it gives the feeling of "hang tight, it will be fixed soon" Not forgetting about the other Devs and their work (a list of 3 pages; check here memberlist.php?mode=group&g=26 ) we as a community should give more credit to the Devs and their work, even though sometimes invisible, they are there! Think about it, the list contains 62 Devs for a game that is free and has a relatively small playerbase compared to those other F2P games. Just writing this post as a big cheer to everyone who helps making this game great! Keep on the good work!

Fewer players make for faster games, in some situations I agree, but for maps without base defense, it's hard for GDI to fight while also defending against infiltrating SBHs when you have fewer players. Usually only a few people who NEVER attack end up ALWAYS defending the base. They never end up higher on the scoring list because of that but they do have a critical function in the teams victory. Timed games are server settings, so it's server dependant. Don't like it? Look for "AoW" servers instead of "Marathon". Some "AoW servers have longer than the standard 30 minutes, essentially having a "limitted marathon"

    Reason for that is many EU players play on EU servers compared to any other region. So naturally US players come and play on EU servers because there are more people. On other topics it was stated that's because of the crashes, US people will come back to US servers when the issues are resolved
  15. Right right, I get it ... I'm the badguy all of the sudden ... I just don't like the fact he got me killed, thats all anyway, you can turn your timed C4 in for a couple hand grenades in Ren X. Only hotty and techy can't do that, other chars can
  16. Will do that next time! I'm not in the habit of opening background programs that much, I use steam for Dayz standalone (only starts up through steam) but not for anything else. So starting steam was never considered, especially when you think "the least background programs active, the better the gameplay"

In the English language "cheap" often refers to "The Dutch" Me being Dutch don't mind it at all, it is kinda funny to be incorporated into a whole language On topic, I feel Renegade X is dieing, be it slowly. I feel like stopping/pausing the game for a few weeks myself too because of these unbearable crashes, it's no fun to play. But I have to say something about yesterday: I noticed 3, yes 3!! fully topped off servers! 40/40 players! And a few with just 1-5. 2 EKT servers and TheMatrixRen server were fully topped off at around 21:30 GMT. Only chance for new players to join those servers is hoping someone crashes the game Just saying, Even though there is a list of 100 servers (or maybe 50 idk) only a handfull are actually played on. I dislike Jelly for the time being, with their PT modifications for airstrikes and SBHs, or else I'd be playing those servers.

Yesterday BD spotted me twice after picking up spy crates (as Nod trying to infiltrate GDI base) Only thing I did was buying a beacon and NOT refilling, as I knew about the refill bug. So, BD sees spies after buying a beacon? Or waiting too long? Or maybe because I've been "Reported" (Q) while picking up the spy crate? Reporting might be interresting though
  20. Hi all! I've been wondering this for a couple weeks now, but it seems that a lot of people use their Steam to play Renegade X. I have steam, but Renegade X is not using it and trying to search for Renegade X in Steam yield no results. Do I have to link Steam with Renegade X to include some features (e.g. stat tarcking) in some fashioned way?

    Is there already known, what changes the patch will bring? I'm looking forward to see some improvements to AI and other fixes. Please look at the date stamp! (7th MARCH!) This post refers to the update already implemented!
  23. Evono, players can initiate the command "RecordDemo" when pressing F5 or "~" key, clients initiate a 2-minute recording on that server. It records changes in a game, so files aren't that big. Mods however can initiate the same thing, but for the entire duration of the round. Check out the topic viewtopic.php?f=13&t=73041 The devs can view it and take apropriate actions to perpetrators whilst also adressing the issue as it's being observed. Since I love your server (TheMatrixRen) I highly suggest you do this so clients (I) dont have to and ask you to send it to the devs

Almost same happened to me once, although i accidentally put a timed C4 on this dude's back to deter incoming enemies (was meand for the ground only) he noticed it and followed me around to get me killed. He found it funny I did not, and found it to be team hampering. He got banned for a day, next day he appologized. Happened on old ren tho That's not team hampering... In fact, I'd put more of the blame on you more than him. You used his body, without his consent, to carry out a task you yourself could have done. Just because it was your C4 doesn't give you the right to control him and his actions. And then he got banned? You're the one who should have apologized, not him. He did nothing wrong. That's kind of a douche thing to say considering that your version of the game focused on the notion of forcefully using his character as a pawn to forward your own goal. I'm sorry. I don't like being hostile like that. But what you did was just not right. You seem to casually forget the word I've used: "ACCIDENTALLY"
  25. It's free because the developers made a deal with EA. EA allowed the development and distribution providing this game does not in any way earn them money for it. So yes, it is free, totally free, 100% free and 100% legal!
