  1. The Renegade campaign was excellent, especially when compared to what passes as a "campaign" in FPS games nowadays.
  2. This has been mentioned before. It's possible there's a bug where you can't buy a unit that costs exactly however many credits you have.

  4. What is the reasoning behind Hotwire and Mobius being able to detect stealth from farther away? If GDI got a stealth unit via crate or whatever, would Tech and Mendoza be able to see it from farther away too?

  6. Needless to say, this failed miserably. But we won shortly after via 5 or 6 sbh nukes. I like the color contrast between the green Chem Troopers and my red sniper.
  7. A nuke placed next to the crates will destroy the barracks even though it's pretty far away from it.
  8. I don't understand why the rockets spread out after you fire them. They sometimes hit an obstacle or even the ground before reaching the target.

    I once downloaded a voice pack for the original Ren to replace Nod's EVA with CABAL. All I remember is the nuke strike warning was awesome since CABAL laughs maniacally.
  10. Yeah it drives like a humvee/buggy when in reverse. Was not like this in original Ren, so I'm guessing this is a bug.
  11. I think the stank would visibly kick up chunks of tiberium when it drove over it. All tanks did this but you could easily see it when a stank did it.
  12. There is a glitch where a mammy or any other tank with a long barrel cannot fire if the barrel is clipped into another object (i.e. a Flame tank).
  13. This idealism just makes the game very unbalanced depending on whether the map has base defenses. It would be obvious that if this were the case, GDI would always win whenever there are base defenses since Nod essentially has no advantage. Case in point, how many Field games have been won by Nod in Ren X? Thus in Renegade the devs made the artillery very powerful, enough to stand against GDI vehicles. Unfortunately it was a bit too powerful and it made GDI tanks look bad in comparison. As a result, in the original Ren Nod won more often on maps with base defenses. But Ren X players like to play defenseless maps. Just look at the leaderboard, Nod has much higher win % than GDI. It wasn't this bad in the original Ren. What the Ren X devs wanted to do is exactly what was in the quote, that is make sure GDI has better vehicular firepower and Nod focuses on stealth. Thus they buffed the sbh (possibly unintentionally), nerfed the artillery, and buffed GDI vehicles. It sort of backfired because the game is less balanced now. Jelly server has increased the price of sbh to 1000 due to the sprint feature and the lower view distance.
  14. The total points mean nothing, the #1 ranked player admitted he got a lot of points from 1v1 games. I don't believe in losing ladder points if you're on the losing team, this will just encourage people to swap teams in the middle of a game. To better the ranking system, they need to adjust for the length of the game so people who play marathons don't get screwed, and the number of players, so you can't just abuse small matches, 1v1s, or bot games.
  15. I've never seen this in the original either, I'm fairly certain the old obelisk did splash damage. Plus, sprinting just makes it a lot easier to juke the obby. Nod does not need any more nerfs on Field. Arty nerf made it pretty much impossible to control the center. Tunnels is the only way they stand a chance.

  17. I seem to remember the old obby did splash damage so it was more effective against infantry rushes. Was this removed in Ren X?
  18. People won't leave because of this. It'll be the crashes and exploits.
  19. That kind of memory usage is normal for most modern games.
  20. I've never seen this happen before, I'm pretty sure it was at least improved from the original.
  21. There was a mod for the original Ren that made it so snipers and ramjets did half damage to light armor vehicles. It didn't last long.
  22. For some reason I also get the feeling that sniper and ramjet are not hitscan. The one gun I feel has really fast projectile speed and is truly hitscan is the sbh laser rifle. I assume PIC and rail gun too but I never use them. It's probably all in my head.
  23. Problem seems to be that sbh are better in Ren X. Larger maps = more places to hide (e.g. the cavern in Walls base) Sprint = easier to juke enemies Bloom/graphics = can't see sbh even when 1 foot away Plus no more hearing footsteps or seeing random patches of dust being kicked up. Make sbh more visible in general and especially when they are on fire from an exploded mine. I've noticed another problem is that explosions don't get rendered sometimes, this needs to be fixed.
  24. All weapons have a limited range, with the possible exception of sniper rifle and ramjet rifle. They may have nerfed the Orca missile range from the original but it does more damage now.
