  1. RenX is using more ram then just UDK. It's not like all UDK games would need the same amount of ram. It is almost certainly crashing for him because of ram.
  2. The repgun, for the most part, works totally different to the other weapons. So it cant really be compared to the other weapons. The repgun beam issue almost certainly is a different issue i think. So wee´d need to find out how exactly to reproduce this on gunner or mcfarland.
  3. In reality you need atleast 4 GB of ram. With 3 GB of ram you would need to do some serious hacks to your PC like mentioned to make the OS use less ram.
  4. I did accidentally reset the leaderboard yesterday... Since there's not much on it right now and since a new patch should go live shortly I will then reset it again when the new patch hits I think. But i´ll try to get us a yearly leaderboard ready by February to make up for this.
  5. I dont think Havoc89 (who did the rigging and setup for all renx vehicles and created the models for most of them) has plans to make more. The TS ones were more a "demo" and a hint for what the community could make out of renx. Instead of making new ones himself Havoc would rather help the community making more themselves and created a tutorial: viewtopic.php?f=136&t=75189

  7. Schmitzenbergh fixed the quotation marks problem (joining without steam got you quotationmarks arround your nick) and added a new "Skip intro movies" option in the top section of the launcher. Thank you Schmitzenbergh! We will also be pushing this out as an automatic update for the launcher later, but we want to wait with that till after the next RenX patch, which is supposed to land very soonish, to avoid colissions in the updateprocesses.   9. We already have registration capability through steam. We could enforce steam and we would be done with registration. The additional code needed in RenX would be minimal. It would generate a shitstorm that would probably last for two weeks or so till everybody got used to it. Edit: Actually now that I think of it... We could just let steam users register their nick. The game already knows if you have steam running or not and knows your steamid. Thats how it identifies devs for the dev welcomemessages for instance. So if we let a steam user register a nick it can be bounded to his steamid. And whenever any player loggs in the game (or more precisely the games online services) could check if his name is among the registered names. If yes it could check if he is logged in with steam and if his steamid matches the registered steamid for that player name. If not... then he's a faker. Am I missing something or sounds this logical ? Cause if it does I could implement this without too much work. People would still complain about only being able to register their nick when using steam, but atleast it would be an option they can take.
  10. I did lock this and intended to have people sort this out in private but B0ng reopened it cause I guess he thought he had to say something important. And I kinda agree that no one should globally ban someone without getting the opinions of others first. Except if you are really using an obvious cheat. If in doubt of cheating demo should be analyzed first. If using personal insults or other shit people should get a warning first. Your case is special though as pretending to use cheats and especially linking to them is a very major crime so to speak that can justify a global ban right away imho. What you should do is to explain that the hack you named doesn't exist and that it was all just a (bad) joke. If the hack you named does exist then You have a problem. If it doesn't I think we should turn this into a warning and lift the ban. But you make this harder on yourself by rambling instead of just explaining and apologizing for what you said.

  12. Ok so you were banned through the IRC bot it seems. Im managing our traditional global ban list and i never put you on that. So there sort of are multiple ways to ban people i guess. Anyway this is probably best to be solved in privat chat. I guess you just got on Yosh his nerves way too much which is a bad thing cause coders got to code, dont have time for that Anyway: Private chat for this i guess is best option, dont need fights in here
  13. If so he would probably have his reasons. But just checked and you are not on our global ban list. Guess multiple servers just banned you or something and if they did you need to complain there.

  17. It seems weird to have a restrictions for some characters while others cans use them just fine. In MOBAS like DOTA2 you can absolutly buy like an expensive Axe for a Mage class. But it wont give you the same stats and ability upgrades as it will give to a hero that is suited to carry an Axe. And the SBH is a very special class aswell. Sure we could come up with a explanation why it couldnt carry a repgun. Like for instance the crystal of the repgun disrupting the stealth effect. But anyway: Thats not the only option as Davidbeast showed with his great post (and Minji in her latest post). Some of the suggestions Yosh already added i think. Like giving Hotwire/Techs heavy pistols.
  18. In the very first launcher that I did I added an IRC plugin. This probably is the easiest way to do a chatroom. I know it wasent that hard when I did it. But that launcher was not done in C# so that stuff can't be reused for the current one and i couldnt translate it as im not a C# guy. But the idea of IRC could be reused. Another option would be for me to just revive my old launcher and to finish that one. But im not yet ready to make that commitment.
  19. Message not dissapearing seems to happen when multiple volumes overlap a certain way. So we need to know the places where it happens. But like Bro said best to PM a dev about those places.

Restricting buyable weapons cpmpletly or atleast in their usefulness to certain classes based on their strength and intelligent values for instance or for other characteristics is a common thing in other games to balance stuff. A lot of people also just asked for just removing sidearms for engies. These are options and every option is allowed to be discussed. I am surprised by this reactions and that you think this kind of SBH disarming thing is fine. Obviously not everyone thinks its fine as I've seen complaints about it here and elsewhere. But I have no intention to fix something that isent broken so I will just keep observing.
  21. Before we completly Remove the defuse ability from it i think it would be best to just disallow the Reptool from SBH first and see how that goes. SBH and rep tool don't mix and never will Regardless of a disarm time increase I think. Defusing mines and blowing up a building after should require you to sneak into the enemy base. But with a group of SBH you can basically just walk to the least frequently used enemy building entrance easily. This basically takes zero effort and then you just need a bit of luck that no enemy walks through that door while you defuse the mines. This seems wrong. SBH suprise nukes already make SBH strong enough as a base intruder so I think there would be no harm and only good in denying them the rep tool.
  22. People always forget that field is a map suited for 5vs5, 8vs8 etc. Not for 20vs20.

  24. Ya the ladder uses json. But for it to be used in the game we would have to rewrite too much code I guess for it to be worth it I would think. We could just fix the bugs in the current safe system instead but it usually has low priority.
  25. Schmitzenbergh has fixed it in the launcher and also fixed the nomovie command. So we will be rolling out an update to the launcher in the near future. Till then djlaptop his fix is a good compromise.
