The above ^ ! If GDI get the mobile array as shown in that teaser screen shot then maybe Nod should get the stealth generator shown here.

Waait, using the defensive power functions as an em shield that prevents your tanks from being stopped by emp-grenades?? Useful guide, thanks for writing.

1. I see there's already sort of cyborg mutant commando unit on Nod, will GDI get access to The Forgotten's Ghost Stalker or Umagon as a playable character? 2. Will Nod have their laser fence system as it's featured on Nexus' recent map Steppe and Desolation. This seems really important in re-creating the C&C ambience and atmosphere of Tiberian Sun/Firestorm. 3. Given there are two sub-subterranean units, will GDI get access to a mobile sensor array? I'm sure I saw a model for this somewhere. It would serve as a sort of secondary goal for Nod to destroy one, a bit like GDI needing to take out Nods more advanced Sam sites. 4. It would be quite cool if the original mammoth tank remained playable as a special crate - whoever also mentioned this. 5. Any plans for an EMP cannon? What about a Stealth Generator?

There's already a working and functional example of a gate on the map Storm, the Harvester uses it to reach the tiberium field and return to base again, this map is under played and under rated in my opinion. It looks a little different than the grilled version in Tiberian Sun though. If it was implemented right it would serve as a stealthy sneak route into the base a bit like harvester walking. It's none destructible though in its present form.

Why do we like/love RenX and how did it started for you?
Mystic~ replied to Snow.'s topic in Renegade X
I remember watching someone play the PC demo of C&C Tiberian Dawn, I bought it for PS1 and really enjoyed it, then got into Tiberian Sun online games over a 64k modem and eventually bought Renegade after seeing it in shop on holiday, it was a while before I had a computer with good enough specs to play it. Not sure how, but stumbled across Renegade-X around 2014 and started playing it again and still here. Under is the map I remember playing most, still hate it, also Field, still hate this also, nothing has really changed, less tunnel sniping and more tank spam now. I'm glad there are so many new maps to choose from these days. I think I like the fact it's all set in the C&C Universe, Westwood put a lot of time into developing this with story and unique units and the game play is team based rather than just another FFA shooter, I also like the base defence aspect, but I hate the job of being the miner/defender. Never actually completed original Renegade campaign owing to a corrupt save game at the point of getting aboard the Submarine, so no actual idea about story or character development beyond this point. -
It would be nice if finding a new character presented some sort of choice confirmation box, do you accept character 'xyz' before changing you, so it can be rejected if you already have something better or more suited to whatever you were planning, so maybe it spawns that characters weapon onto the ground and when you pick it up, it immediately changes your class to match. There are other booby trap crates which are actually quite annoying as well depending on circumstances, the nuclear strike will clear a large area, a timed detonation will wipe you out, a timed C4 charge will have you running to find a team vehicle to limit and share the damage done... I would honestly remove these kill-crates. Most maps are based on choke points, but in terms of well spaced maps, try maps like Outposts, Reservoir, Eyes, Tunnels, Steppe and perhaps Whiteout, the cringe maps tend to be from the original game and include original Field and Under. Islands and Walls can also be bad, although I still enjoy these maps mostly for some reason

I'm going to hope you will be able to get a Seeker tank or Devourer tank as a 'weapons from the future' crate similar to the Hover MRLS, Wolverine and Titan in Ren-X Vanilla.
-
Okay, I can see you've sealed 2 of the 3 entrances into each base, but it's still not fair. The Nod side has a long narrow tunnel choke point with a GT at the end which has a clear line of sight to murder anything that can see it. But on the GDI side, there's a huge wide open cavern with lots of space to run & move around and get different firing angles on the GT, which doesn't have the same 'murder choke point' that Nod gets. It's really frustrating because we're already at the point where many people don't even want to vote for the map in the first place and I suspect some also leave once it loads up. It should be a really good map, it has the same potential as Eyes by Dakuja. Once the single GT defending the Barracks on GDI side cave is destroyed Nod can simply wreck havoc with SBH and nukes because there's nothing left to stop or detect them any longer. In all my plays of the map, most games are won by the GDI Barracks being destroyed and unlike Field or Field-X an MRLs can't get close enough to cover the cave entrance.

Thanks for the answers Fffreak, so given that it's called Firestorm, will there be any firestorm wall defences for limiting attacks by Banshee? If there are subterranean unis, will GDI also get the option to build a mobile sensor tower? Is the Nod commando character Nod's answer to the Mammoth Tank MK II?
-
It looks great, I've watched this commentary twice now, you couldn't see much in the teaser, but maybe this was what you already had in mind from the start. It looks like there's so many vehicles to choose from and there seems like there's so much more weapons variety to the combat. I don't know whether we're allowed to ask questions and get answers about the game at this point or not? Do Nod have a long distance artillery unit? I couldn't see one in the video. Do GDI get an amphibious APC to cross lakes and water? If yes, does this mean Nod gets something like the Reckoner or sub-subterranean APC? I see GDI have the jump-jets, do Nod get anything similar or are they meant to dig under the ground more? And what about the Tiberian Sun era bikes? Minor criticism is that the Wolverine looks like it's doing squat jogs and needs to stand up properly.

What happens if someone on the other team is dishing out abuse and you want to call a global vote?
-
So given this expansion is literally called Firestorm, are you going to be giving GDI the firestorm wall ability to produce a firestorm shield to defend from mass Banshee attacks?
-
I was hoping at first this meant that you would now be able to steal vehicles that had an enemy player in the passenger seat rather than the drivers seat, you'd be able to kick them out GTA style by holding L and take the vehicle from them, however, I think what you're proposing is also a good idea to manage the desired classes that are in the vehicle. If you fly a Chinook over an enemy building maybe it becomes the same key to trigger a drop/release so everyone exits together at the same time over the Hand of Nod. I've rarely used a Chinook with 2 gunner crew as a gunship before, but I used one on Whiteout and it very quickly dealt with 3 Artillery units shelling the base as it deals good damage, fast rate of fire and can manoeuvre into a good firing position quickly.

I think on very large maps like Outposts there should be an ammo cache model somewhere on the field where people can approach and resupply, there was something similar to this on Paradise where there were extra terminals in corridors towards the centre of the map far away from bases. Or maybe there could be an ammo resupply support power that parachute drops something similar into the field at a given location. Mostly it's base locking infantry like at the bridge on Gold Rush or the Plateau on Walls where I probably would not want to see situations where rocket soldiers, mendoza/mobius or Gunners have infinite ammo.

I think it's too early to compare Earth Breakers directly with present Renegade-X as it's only an alpha demo. You would have to compare it to Ren-X as it was in around 2013. I only saw a few people, including yourself and Sytharn who played. I like some aspects of the soldier and sniper combat more than Ren, I like the fact I can be sniped without it being an instant head shot take down and I don't have to keep wasting credits to re-purchase characters. The assault rifle combat is really enjoyable, where as Ren soldiers are in reality just as weak and feeble as the RTS game made them to be. However I don't like the way flame throwers are a spammy class that can run after you, I prefer how they work in real life. I also don't like all the rocket spam and I'm not sure how I feel about unlimited ammo yet. The EB tanks aim, handle and manoeuvre horribly compared to Ren, but I realise I miss painted units and I'm not all that fond of camo designs, didn't the Ren flame tank used to be a menacing red? I also like the build-able walls, which you can run around and shoot from. The demo map reminded me of Paradise, somewhat, but maybe not quite as good. It's nice that tanks all spawn in a row and you don't get queues of people outside the weapon's factory or on the strip... I think the plane animation is one of the main limiting factors. Petro have their experience from Renegade but aren't held to the RTS C&C experience. I don't like the incredible speeds people can run on stems like it's a football game, the armour looks so so, like a Halo or Unreal Tournament game. There's no communication mechanics beyond team chat, no public chat, lots of vehicles were still locked out of the game. The coin collecting sound seems immature and like a mobile transaction arcade game.

Thanks for making the changes, I'm aware of the tunnel, but I haven't had opportunity to play the map much since.

I was wondering if because it's a corded mouse, maybe the cable was damaged or perhaps the mouse is damaged or defective. Maybe you could also test it with a different game to try and narrow down the cause. The fact you say that an old mouse works fine makes me think it's either a driver problem, os problem or it's defective. Have you also tried testing the settings for the mouse under control panel? I know high tech mouses usually have more options like resolution etc and maybe something is interfering with the game here.
-
If you plug in a different mouse do you have the same problem? Are you certain its only in Renegade-X, do you also use other applications for a long time? Does the mouse require special drivers?

Welcome back to the game. Well here's the download section for the current game: https://renegade-x.com/files/ Here is the Technical Support section on the forum if you run into difficulties. https://renegade-x.com/forums/forum/10-technical-support/ Here is the official Discord server where players hang out, can ask casual questions and join organised games or use team speak options: https://discord.com/invite/renegadex

I was wondering if there were tank mines, or was it just the turbo-boosted remote C4 that did it. I also find it hilarious that he had time to parachute out, like it was a spitfire or something.

Best video and live stunt I've ever seen in Renegade-X.

Reminds me of this.

I also noticed the running element, speed can be upgraded lots and on top of this they have the stem injections from other games, I found it extremely difficult to shoot some people with tanks or turret weapons. It's like the Neo crate Fffreak created. There's no fall damage yet, and there's a lot of bunny/grass hopping going on with the player combat. Even at this stage of the game it's a lot of fun, but playing the same map over and over is a bit tiring. The infantry combat is much faster than Renegade, and the tank battles are much slower and require greater precision, I don't get the same impatient feeling I get when the stamina bar in ren goes flat and I like the fact I can own an advanced character for just 200 credits, you just have to upgrade them as you go along. I'll get bored eventually probably, but there's still a lot of content not unlocked in the demo. I actually enjoy solider on soldier combat in EB, and it remains relevant throughout the whole game, but in Renegade this just feels like an early game thing that you must eventually move on from into better classes to help the team, so I sort of feel we're missing a trick, but at the same time they don't have anything like a mobius, sbh or LCG yet. I was listening to a load of intuition this morning in mind about the game, about the C&C brand/franchise, Petroglyph and EA... it's almost as if Petroglyph would like the C&C brand back, but I don't think EA are going to allow this... but at the same time EA is not really producing good C&C games any longer and the mobile game I felt was some sort of gimmick to cash in on mobile gaming. Still looking forward to whatever this new Tiberian Sun content might be for Renegade-X.

Well I saw at least one other Renegade-X player. Tank battles are not as enjoyable as Renegade yet, you can't see anything for much of the time and they handle like a ship in the water.
