Note: THESE OPTIONS SHOULD ONLY BE TAKEN IF YOU HAVE ACTUALLY EXPERIENCED ISSUES FIRST-HAND, try running the .msi file as normal before following the guidance in this thread.

Launcher not updating properly?

Running into some bizarre installation error?

Well make sure you have your Launcher in order before making a thread about it!

Instructions Below:

So! If you are reinstalling and run into trouble OR

You are a first time user downloading Renegade X

Good news!

You have two options when installing Renegade X

1st Option: The hassle-free option.

[IF YOU ONLY HAVE ONE HARD DRIVE, GO TO THE 2nd Option]

Install Renegade X into a custom directory, instead of the default "C:\Program Files (x86)\",

Example: Installing Renegade X into "A:\Retro\Renegade X"

And your hassle-free result should appear as below:

2nd Option:

Installing Renegade X into the default directory. "C:\Program Files (x86)\Renegade X"

Go into "C:\Program Files (x86)\Renegade X\Launcher" directory.

Right-Click on 'Renegade X Launcher.exe' [See below]

After you tick the box for "Run this program as an administrator" click 'Apply', then click "OK".

Double-click Renegade X Launcher.exe

You should be good to go.

Enjoy.

Option #3 - Full Download

Thanks to iTweek this is now a 3rd option, if the previous options fail you - please download the full game from the above link and unzip to either a custom Hard Drive directory or into

C:\Program Files (x86)\ (If you are using a 64-bit OS)

or C:\Program Files\ (If you are using a 32-bit OS)

Then start the game via the Launcher.exe

To download the full zipped package please select the closest mirror to your location in the world.

Hi, returning veteran player. An this is a perfect topic for my problem. I installed the initial game its self, then it launched & started to update/patch. Well its stuck now, its been on the same thing for over 3 hours now (please see picture incl. w/post). Any help would be appreciated, thank you...

@Madkill40 add Schmitz fix_Bat to your posting [or the link below] and it's up to date

@Wyldcard I think the reason causing your launcher problems are firewall settings / missing access rights, but Schmitz is still working on the Launcher so this issue should - hopefully - get a PIC facepunch directly into the "annoying-bug-purgatory" soon

There is actually a known server issue finally found as of about 24 hours ago... so yes.

The bat is in no way responsible for the updates of the Launcher itself. Plz change that to prevent mistakes.

AWWWWWW Man! Nothin but bad luck on my end. I got it installed, updated & up & going finally, but guess what now?...........My pc isnt the same one i played on before & this one wont handle the heavy graphics, even with everything turned down as far as they'll go i can barely move......even the music is choppy when it plays..... machine-gun-2.gif.c841911996bcc2fae65c88aeb15d39a5.gif

I'll hopefully be replacing it soon after i get working again soooooo, i guess i'll just check in every little while & see whats new till i am able to play again......

I made a guide to manually edit the config for lower settings.

This should make you download via the Amsterdam server which should be fine (Tested)

On a side note, you can change the server you wish to download via by opening the bat file in your favourite text editor (NOT MS WORD) and replaceing the url after the = sing in this line:

Hi, I'm new. Just letting you know that none of the installation options are working. The primary download for "New" players gives 404 error, not found on server. The links of the first post are also ending in 404 for the iTweek provided links.

I'm using the most up-to-date version of Mozilla Firefox. 57.0.x 64 bit running on windows 7.

You should try the official .msi download from the downloads section before trying this, however if you have done this then please see this thread for up to date downloads.

Thanks, I looked at that and said "Nope". Its a lot of work for a work-around. It's nice that it is there, but not really needed since it is not life or death for me. I opted to wait for the official link to be fixed.

Anyways, the .msi download button is working again, so thanks!

Hello all togehter,

I'm new here and have a question to the download mirrors.

When I try to download via the launcher the downloadspeed is about 33 KiB/s (with peaks up and down)

Now I tried the forced dowload with the .bat file postet in the first post.

When i choose my closest mirror with the actual patch number (in my case: http://rxp-de-frankfuhrt.file-server.download/Patch5363 ) it ends up with an error message that the mirror dosen't exist. I also tried Zurich and amsterdam mirror and some other url´s that are in this topic same Problem.

when i try this with the czech1 and czech2 server it works but with the low speed.

Did I do something wrong or are the mirrors down?

The launcher uses more than one host, so its definately not just using the czech one, what launcher version are you on? is czech slow or something?

I’m thinking about putting this on my laptop, it’s an acer aspire A515-54. It only has 1.6-1.8 GHz processing. It says that 2GHz is the minimal requirement. Will I still be able to play? And if anyone knows much about my laptop, will it be worth trying?

Will you be able to play: Yes

Will it be enjoyable: Probably not, you would need a much better CPU for it since the Intel IGPU is not great.

I had a similar issue. I think the fix was to use a download that saves progress instead of making you start all over.

i don't remember what i used to download but that was the idea.

Hope it helps. Keep asking for help its worth it!

Dunno what happened, but it worked, just let it there for another hour, and it finished, now going to the next step (ue3redist)

Hi there,

I just started playing yesterday and I noticed the update today. When I tried updating I get this error:

Renegade X could not be updated. The following exception occurred:

Access to the path 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Renegade X\patch\backup\20200728_045443' is denied.

I checked the Task Manager after reading through some of the different download errors but I didn't see anything similar to what could've been the problem for those people.

Edit: The odd thing was that I could still jump into one of the servers despite it wasn't update.

Fixed the problem; probably the read-only or always run as administrator for UDK or binaries.

Apologies, this thread is very out-dated.

But if your install hangs at about 90.5% your only option is to give it a few moments whilst its at that percentage, then try re-downloading it again [it supposedly saves some or most the download progress] which shouldn't take as long as it would have the first time.

Turn off your VPN whilst downloading, just for good measure if you are using a VPN. [Typically shouldn't make a difference but the current build of the Launcher gets quite unruly with different peoples' internet connections sometimes, especially if below a certain internet speed it sounds like its timing out. Just try and try again.]

Edit: It would seem https://renegade-x-download.net/ no longer provides a full 7z package of the game to download and install anymore, i.e. the website is broken.

Please delete the binaries folder of Renegade X,

Then open the launcher and use the option to Verify Files.

This will fix the issue.

Hey everyone,

maybe there are some people here who already know me from the online games.

I decided to install Ren X again after a longer break - and got this:

Same thing by clicking "verify game integrity" - this is a completely FRESH installation on my computer. There are no other existing files or something. "Reset game" causes an error of the launcher program.

Some help would be great

i've had that error randomly before. have you tried restarting your computer and loading up renegade x again?

Worst case, uninstall everything renegade x related in the uninstall manager, then also go to ~Program Files (x86)\Renegade X and delete that whole folder afterwards.

and try fresh install once more.

unfortunately in rare cases the installer is buggy.

One thing you could try is Copying the entire "Renegade X" Folder to your desktop, then go into that folder, then Launcher, and run the launcher from there.

If you still havent resolved the issue, drop on our discord and come into #support I could teamviewer into your PC and check out whats going wrong?

doesn't work - i dunno wtf is wrong with this installer. or maybe my computer. i still believe it's a network problem.

My other computer is too weak to run RenX, but that launcher update works on it... tried that just for solution.

FIXED:

Forgot to get security update for net framework 4.8 for the installation - now it works with fw 4.8 !!!

Hi,

I posted in the technical part for how to find and install patches.
But also, I finally managed to get this working after a few failed attempts, but I only have 1 map working and one game mode, command and conquer one,
I don't know what I'm not doing right, I've redownloaded and installed a few times, but it keeps happening?

I can't wait to try the full game, maps and modes, the one I tried so far is awesome.

Hi,

This is what happens when i open the TA launcher, its as if it's freezing...
As seconds pass it becomes worse.

After installing the visual program, i restart it, and it pops up back again, saying it has to be installed.

Some ideas?
