  1. On the contrary, the intention matter the most.
  2. Or just fix the building. The HON would need some interior renovation as well, in regards of the hidden mines.
  3. Take down the video or remove it from the forums, no need show everyone how to replicate it. When we find something like this we directly send it to the devs, not making it available to the public. Not true, unless your Steam name is player266 and you change the numbers after each every match... then to use the setname parameter to change it to a one letter long name.
  4. Calm down Sn4ke and read again what I've written. This is not a personal assault against your friend, try to look at it objectively. Any reasonable player would raise a red flag after witnessing a glitch nuke, followed up with miracle shots trough walls all coming from the one smurf account. Actually he was called out not only by me. Trust me, he won't be banned just because I say so and won't be protected just because you trust him. In fact, we all know that no action will be taken against him because your well known friend chose not to risk to use his Steam account while doing funky stuff. Want proof? Go ask iTweek for the demo.
  5. Your friend first placed a glitch beacon on the airtower on Under -as always ruining a good game-, eventually he admitted it. Then on the next maps some people kept complaining about him that he shot them with Rav/Syd out of nowhere/through walls. On field I traced back the laser line which led inside the Ref. I saw him there moving and aiming at the wall facing the AGT and constantly hitting its MCT. There were other players along me who shot and damage him and he reacted to our approach, so he was physically there. I don't rule out that this might be a graphical/client bug, but many players actually died and complained only about him doing his "trick" and he clearly knew how to play/exploit the game while being anonymous having a one character long name with no Steam (maybe to avoid a nice ban).
  6. I remember, in the past this fantastic book gave me a very detailed insight about how the UDK audio system works. Shame I no longer have their map nor they host it anymore.
  7. Sounds like a fun, original idea. Only have two concerns: 1. Some people will say that the game doesn’t need modes because it would fragment the playerbase. 2. Who’s gonna code all of this?
  8. If you can't hear anything that means all the 32 audio channels are overloaded, although this should result in sound dropping or a nice crash. Probably some sound(s) is on a positive feedback loop (in layman terms overlapping sounds). When overlapping hits the 32 mark, the engine starts dropping the new packages just like a ddos attack. "Audio Sources" tells the number of audio sources playing back at the moment and will never be able to exceed the above mentioned channel limit which is 32 by default. You can set it up to a maximum of 64, but that's another story. "Wave Instances" is the number of wave instances the engine wants to play back. The number of channels of the sound files (mono or stereo) doesn't matter. "Wave Instances Dropped" is the number of wave instances the engine fails to play back when it exceeds the channel limit, this must be pretty high considering the memory consumption. If this hasn't solved yet I'd advise to check your sound cues. Remember that the repetition time must be higher or equally long than the source lenght. Nope, apparently the channels are not overloaded.
  9. Check out this interesting concept which was created by a hungarian guy:
  10. Modelling eh? Sounds interesting. Anyways congrats Henk!
  11. You just listed the 3 original worst maps in the history of RenX. I do hope that Under will be "ruined" as well. Back in the days of oldRen, Field was my favorite map, but in RenX it didn’t play out well for many reasons, some of those were already mentioned. The real sad thing about oldField is, that I can’t imagine how many players left the game because of the piss poor broken gameplay they experiened on it.
  12. lol that's funny. Is this intentional, or you just found it by mistake?
  13. There's more crazy lore about Renegade on the net. For example, here you can watch the live action Havoc as he punished the developers for not releasing the game in time:
  14. Renegade (X) has always been a fun arcade like FPS. Adding inertia to the movement would probably slow down the pace of firefights, but it might work. I'm pretty sure it would feel clunky for quite awhile and people would rage about it a lot.
  15. I'm back with some result from a W10 installation. First of all the installer picture on top looked perfect: This is what I got in W7: Weird I know. The installation was okay, although I received this at the end of it: This greeted me first time in the launcher: After restarting it displayed the usual messages and everything was in order. I think you redirected the launcher to download 5.16 instead of 5.2 so I was able to reproduce the stock map + mutators combo. Once again I can confirm that no maps were modified as it was a fresh install (even installed a new W10 to test the installer). Window popped up, that I don't have all the maps, launched the game, and 2 files downloaded ingame (commander and weapons mod). The server is called City4All in case you want to see it yourself. As for the launcher version, I was referring to the exe's metadata, it's always been 1.0.0.0. I'll go to a 15 people LAN tomorrow which will last for 5 days, hopefully 5.2 will be released during that time so I can show my friends how cool RenX become
  16. Used the new installer, everything was fine. W7 Then tried to reproduce the mutator-stock map issue, but there were only two servers with standard settings, so I wasn't able to. Anyways good job! I have two little observations. So little ones that I'm going to write it in small letters. The installer have a low quality picture at the top of the window. Maybe it's an 8 bit picture idn. Maybe you could give version numbers to the launchers, to this point all of them are marked as 1.0.
  17. Thank you for the detailed explanation how the launcher works. As for the second case I'm sure I have unmodified maps. I did modified the radio commands and other sound related stuff, but always restored the originals after the test sessions (those packages aren't related to maps anyways.) The internal downloader downloaded the commander mod and another file. Maybe the other file was the extra map, although I doubt this as it was very small (around 900 Kb). I'll reinstall the game (with the new fancy installer to reproduce this.
  18. I didn't try out the new installer but here's a small issue with the launcher (maybe it's a known issue): I put the new launcher into my RenX folder. In the launcher selected the Test server. Clicked on the Join Server button. Maps started to downloading. At the currently played map (Paradise) a popup told me that not all maps had been downloaded. Am I cool with that. Sure. Game launched and slowly started to download Paradise. Selected a server with mutators and stock maps. The same message popped up instantly that not all maps had been downloaded. Fine, launch the game anyways. The internal downloader kicked in to get the mutators. Preview videos were ok. Validating the files was ok. Although it downloaded a 161 MB package. Hope this helped a bit.
  19. Sorry to pop in, but last year we played RenX in LAN and there were no performance issues with 8 people. It would be nice to set up a server internally although it's obvious that nowadays barely anybody would use that feature.
  20. Finished the game, in the Renegade campaign Kain is the main villain. Also at some point you had to defeat Seth This is not just a look alike, this is true C&C experience with all the TD buildings, vehicles and superweapos. I highly recommend you this game guys.
  21. I already described the strategy/scenario what happened in the majority of the games on Snow. If teams were equally skilled don't expect chems frontally assaulting the camping officiers in the corner near the WF back entrance, they just take the other entrance only threatened temporarily by a few units from the bar side who were slow to react to save the WF. Or the chems just melt the officiers and fartlands wit some loss. Apparently we experienced very different results on Snow, and statistically speaking you witnessed a 50/50 ratio while I witnessed a 95/5, weight it with all the players who were in the game (~25-35 players from my side) and we have approximetly a 62/38 ratio. But I'd love to see the real statistics for it.
  22. Glad to hear that Henk. Your map was the most imbalanced in favor of Nod. Close corners, tight places, just endless waves of chems popping out near the WF, officiers were turned into goo instantly, C4 fest on the MCT. After 1-2 waves the first flamer tanks started to burn the bar from the cover of the underground tunnel. Game usually ended with a nuke at the back of the bar coverer by a few flamers+techs. Out of my 15 games GDI only once was able to win probably because I snuck into Hon... 50/50 on Snow? Please...
