  1. I think voting is a pretty good option, no? It's a few keypresses away and allows for the democratic vote. Same with people screaming bloody murder about afk's. The vote option is right there? Sometimes the problem exists between keyboard and chair, not the functionality Giving individuals control over harvester will cause willing or unwilling grief, I think. Above that, I would guess (but could be wrong) that it's the easiest and quickest to implement? Lastly - what is the desired end-result? Harv returns to the refinery bay seems the most logical thing to do? This probably deserves its own thread, we're derailing isupreme's original point. I personally decline command votes (for the handful of times I've been voted to), because I'm not at all familiar with the command powers and I feel there's usually a lot more experienced players around, not waiting for me to bumble about. I'm more of a grunt, just point me where to shoot
  2. It was worth it. Kaunas did a great job leading us to victory A recently crashed game also yields some interesting results. When the server goes down and you end up in the RenX Twilight Zone, Sydney's flechette gun produces for some trippy visuals (Sound is out of synch in the original recording, dunno why.)
  3. Same for me Nothing against having the option, but I'm not a fan of voicechat, and especially not in large numbers. It took me a while to get used to voice commands and I still only use a few, but they can be pretty effective, I think.
  4. I'm grateful for whoever wants to command, however the match turns out. I don't see the point of being critical of a commander, however experienced or successful, because it's still him or her taking the risk and taking command. Haha, probably the only takeaway we have here I love you all, but sometimes I glance at the chat and think to myself: "whine less, play more".
  5. With a relatively recent GPU, chances are your graphics card has recording software. For nvidia it's GeForce Experience. You can hit alt+z in a game to bring up the overlay and hit record from that. Radeon has ReLive, but not familiar with that. If you install the Xbox app from the Windows store, you can use the Windows game bar to record too, but never tried that one either. It would be pretty cool to see how some of you play!
  6. Budget would be good to know, but what you have right is a pretty good setup, I say. MSI is a no-frills, fairly decent build-quality manufacturer (imo). Processor i5, 9th generation is pretty good, GTX 1660 Ti with 6gb is more than sufficient to play RenX. I play RenX on ultra on my i5 8th gen, GTX 960 (desktop) and RenX runs like a train.
  7. The main issue here, I think, is the relatively small playerbase. A busy match has 64 players, so your pool of players will always at risk of being slightly or heavily skewed towards a certain team. Especially with regulars or returning regulars. In old Renegade, I usually played on a few regular servers on which my latency wasn't horrible. If I didn't like a certain match, I could switch. Then again, there have been plenty of games in which I was on the losing side, but the team pulled together and tipped the scales. The reason I love RenX is that there's a myriad of tools to go apeshit on your enemies. I should post that one rocket rush that killed the server on Under of a while ago for reference Also, you win some, you lose some. Sometimes it's really just poor teamplay. I've seen a fair amount of low-population matches where getting the enemy's harv at the start of match is apparently enough to have people leave the game in despair. I do see merit to find a way to kick AFK's at the start of match. I've been guilty of being AFK the last few days. I'm on standby at work and sometimes have to get on a call quickly. I'd rather have the system remove me if I can't get back to my desk quickly. I'm iffy on having moderators or bans to enforce balance. Who will decide on what is balanced and what is not? That is entirely subjective and in a playerbase so small, this will only lead to further discontent and abuse. We often have much poorer judgement than we'd like to give ourselves credit for
  8. Neither do I. I spread some more love ❤️
  9. Thanks for clarifying! I agree, although it would be nice to have a default minimum required amount of players for beacons. I think I've seen 20 and 24 but with the changes in servers it's hard to keep track Seems like a good amount. It would be pretty nice to be able to override that minimum with a vote. Otherwise, the root of the issue of early-day, low-population games isn't resolved: people getting toxic with each other, because someone placed a beacon on a server that allows it. In either case, whatever the server configuration allows: if you can buy a beacon, you should be able to use it.
  10. Not sure if that was a reply to me. If it is, I'm not a lawyer, so take with a grain of salt. I'm making a lot of assumptions here
  11. I was playing as well, on GDI, and hated that I missed that vote. Would never be my choice. With the world blaring at you when the enemy is pushing into base, I often miss votes and I hate it when someone sneaks in a surrender or map change vote. Take your defeat standing on your feet, goddamnit
  12. Also, don't forget the condition of a non-profit: no profit. It works for a business that somehow serves society and can exist on donations or state funds, but it doesn't really help Totem Artz and the people contributing. I can't know for sure, but I guess EA's shackles are pretty big and sturdy. The only legal way out of this, is a totally different game more or less inspired by the skirmish like base vs base, with vehicles and infantry, by the same talented people *but* totally away from any name or likeness of C&C. And with EA's legal team breathing down your neck. On the other hand, you can't just scrap or reuse a project that has been in development since 2009 just like that. I'm assuming a lot of people have come and gone development-wise, which is inevitable. Kudos to the people still holding this game up to this day. I don't think most of the players realize how much effort it takes to pool resources like that together, across the globe. tl;dr: I don't see why Totem Artz would start shuffling their legal status about, if it doesn't yield some benefit and doesn't awake the EA deathsquad Not a lawyer though.
  13. That is awesome. Thank you all for your effort and for pooling resources and smarts together. ❤️
  14. Do you mean, voting on it and promising not to, even though beacons are available to buy, or to implement it as a system so that the beacon only becomes available to buy if the majority votes yes?
  15. This fixed it for me. Thanks! For ye olde c:\ default installs, Rx_VersionCheck_Lib.dll is in these two locations: C:\Program Files (x86)\Renegade X\Binaries\Win32\UserCode C:\Program Files (x86)\Renegade X\Binaries\Win64\UserCode
  16. Well then, the only proper response is to keep joining matches
  17. It's difficult to find a stable match. There were servers with players scattered and even a <8 game just now got DDOS'ed or hacked or idunno, but it was whack.
  18. It bothers me that it is a game mechanic that is currently available, but the unwritten rule about when or when not to use them, is entirely up to everyone's interpretation and grounds for flaming. I don't mind being called out on something, but not for shit I didn't do.

    Server garmany

I play from Belgium, there's a few pretty decent server around here. My ping is 60/80'ish. Welcome! GEILE SPASS JA KLAR
  20. Nani? I usually sit around 60-90 ping Not to criticize the servers, the people running them or RenX, am honestly curious. I wouldn't mind pitching in for server costs, if it helps.
  21. Servers have been pretty unstable lately. Is this a server issue, or a RenX issue? I haven't played all that much in the past two weeks (one or two games on a weekday), but about 1 in every 3 games I play end in a server crash.
  22. If they are on the opposing team, no. If there's people struggling on my team, I'll try to help. Other than that, I see no reason to differentiate. How do you even? I don't check names, I see enemy, I shoot. And often miss
  23. The only thing that annoys me are large maps on a low playcount, because people tend to drop out on that. Other than that, I like all maps pretty much. Under will always be my first love, because it was the only map you could play online, through some gamespy demo cd-rom I got with a game magazine. I'm so old
