  1. So let me get this straight. The game is installed now, the UE3 redist did not install. If this is correct, download the UE3Redist.exe as @Sarah! mentioned. Install it (It is an installer needed to run the unreal engine) and try to start the normal launcher. If normal launcher doesn't work try the debug one again. If that doesn't work you have demons in your pc and I'll need to get my supply of holy water back But seriously, try this and report. If it doesn't work I might need to cook up something different.
  2. @Hayden J Case Do you have any overlay or overclock software running? Something like MSI Afterburner? If so, please disable that. If you don't have any special software running and the launcher still wont show up, please download this debuglauncher -> LauncherDebug.zip Place the folder called "LancherDebug" into your RenegadeX folder, run the "Renegade X Launcher.exe" file inside and report back all the messages it reports. This way I can pinpoint where the launcher refuses to start and if it is a launcher problem, or someting on your client. Try the full build @Sarah! recommended as a last resort.
  3. Could you toy around with the setting? Im no expert in shadow settings. I think it it either "No mod self shadow" of "self shadow only". Make sure all object don't cast a shadow to prevent that one row of trees shadows the other. Otherwise, look at goldrush or lakeside to see the settings on those trees there.
  4. I don't request changes, I suggest them. Feel free to use them as you please, it's your map! I do like what I see though, even if it is WIP. Progressing well. You can make the lake and its surrounding more realistic in a later phase of the map, but keep in mind that it is a location that isn't accessable. Use backgroundrocks, cardboardtrees and even the landscape with a rock material to shape the surroundings. It only has to look nice from a distance. As for the trees with the shadow, it might be some shadow option on them. I think it was called "Cast self shadow" or something. Select them, press F4 and search for shadow and tinker a bit with the settings. Otherwise try rebuilding lighting. If you have shaped the the lake a bit more I would suggest you work on the landscape a bit. If I look at screenshot3 I can notice a lot of 100% flat landscape. If it flatness what you are after, try and roughen it a bit up with the noise tool or something. Just don't keep it 100% flat. Overall, try to finish the landscape like 90% or so. All the other objects need to fit on that landscape so it would be a pain to change all the rocks and buildings again if you need to make big changes to the landscape. Keep it up! The map looks interesting and has a foresty vibe to it. Waiting for the next progress update. PS: If the lake and its surroundings are a bit more fleshed out, make a screenshot of it as seen from a player in the bases. That way we can see the scenery a lot more realistic than from an editor standpoint PPS: Keep building the map if you like to build it. It reminds me of lakeside but as @Crowsy said, it is definitely not as the style of the map and the building placement is very different.
  5. I would suggest to keep the beach, change the palm trees to pines or the other types. Maybe change the scenery so it looks like a lake with mountains on the other side. (Just like in the posted picture) Some paint art: Edit: I just noticed, but this is like reversed lakeside
  6. Small update. The map had its first global testrun to check for all sorts of problems related to gameplay, graphics and collision (Thx @DarkSn4ke and T.O.!). We are busy with fixing those problems as well with adding a thing or two that might benefit the gameplay. One of those things is base tunnels to help infantry defending to get to a part of the battlefield unharmed (But also give sneakers a less detectable way in). The GDI tunnel is mostly done and the Nod tunnel is progressing nicely. Here are three screens to keep y'all pleased The tunnel connects to the WF but not directly near a door.
  7. @Luhrian Plz stop recommending the full build. Use the MSI + Launcher to prevent any file permission problems and other weird things. Most of the people had problems due to the full build not having correct permissions. If the launcher bugs, it's probably something on your system that is wierd as I've now tested the launcher on so many systems. (One of the buggers is MSI afterburner) Use the full build as a last resort or if you need a http download. If you have problems just ask here so we can fix them. If everyone just downloads the full build everytime, the launcher can't be fixed as we get no bug reports. The launcher also provides the most recent and non-altered version of the game. As for @Sparkus: Check if the file "DefaultRenegadeX.ini" is present in %YourRenXFolder%\UDKGame\Config.
  8. What is the install location of the launcher?
  9. Is it a bird, is it a plane? NO! It's the amazing flying @Ryz!
  10. Soon as in "Hopefully early, but depends on tests" (PS: What for laptop did you buy?)
  11. Soon™ (No hi-res, this time. Needed to record it from PIE)
  12. Played a quick skirmish of the map. Looks ok. Few things (for now) that cought my eye (And is my opinion, do as you please): I like the overall design of the map. The hills give good cover against all sorts of hazards. Structures and decoration are nice as well (Do I see my comm-towers from CNC-Storm?). Make changes as you please, curious for the results of the first playtest.
  13. Did you use the Launcher to install? Anyway, try installing the UE3 redist from here -> http://amsterdam1.tyrant.gg/redists/UE3Redist.exe
  14. You can install it via the beforementioned topic, but I recommend the launcher as it does more then just install. It sets permissions to certain folders and helps you with the UE3 redist. A lot of problems that happen to players occur due to people installing it via other means (thus neglecting the permissions and UE3 redist). If you install it via the beforementioned topic, please install the UE3 redist manually before starting the game. Of a side note, what is the host the launcher downloads from? It should say it in the installation window. (And where are you localised in the world)
  15. I like the vid @TK0104. Good initiative! I can't say I agree with all the mine placements, but as a starter I really like the video. The über-miners of the RenX community should give you some remarks on the mining. Anyway, keep up the good work! Maybe reupload it with a barracks part as on some maps you need to mine the doors instead of the sandbags. (Or even mine the internal 'doors' to prevent emps.)
  16. Wont be there for the PUG, so my team can't lose Glhf
  17. I knew about tib essence, yes that mod is the tits (CYBOOOOORGS that are actually good). The renegade one I didnt knew about. Thx for the info On a side note: Now that I've gone back with my driver version, some effect from Renegade X are back as well! I can see the ion cannon explosion again Apparently those effects are based on some Dx9 thing that Amd broke.
  18. At the moment I'm replaying the C&C3 campaign and after that Kane's wrath. But willing to do some multiplayer. I'm not that good though, casual at best.
  19. Found the solution: Downgrade your AMD GPU drivers (Thanks AMD! /sarcasm). More info here -> https://community.amd.com/thread/215749
  20. Install .net 4.0 or higher. The launcher needs it as well as its dependencies. Windows server 2003 x86 has .net 1.1 built in, x64 doesn't have any built in .net variants.
  21. I really need to use names, yeah... I'm not that good with them though ;p Will try if there is a new PUG with me as commander.
