  1. They said they have no plans to make a single player at this time. They also said they just used to first level of Renegade just so they can show it off in the trailer. Also, that map is going to be a multiplayer map as explained in the Feb update.
  2. As far as I know, the basic rocket troopers will have straight-firing rockets, whereas Gunner will have the ability to use tracking rockets.
  3. QUOTE (Pr0eX @ Feb 7 2009, 07:48 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Who said anything about realism? I'm just saying how it was in Renegade compared to how it was in Tiberian Dawn (The game Renegade is based off of).
  4. I said that it only takes the press of a button to check structures... I was just replying to him saying that you can also just check by simply pointing at the structure..
  5. QUOTE (a000clown @ Feb 9 2009, 03:20 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, I do that too. But you aren't able to do so if you are busy inside another structure repairing.
  6. Yes it is "cool" and it makes sense to give him a knife, but he should not get one because he didn't have it in Renegade. It's not about upsetting Renegade's balance, its just as simple as he should have what he had in Renegade and not have whatever he didn't. That's it... And no, it shouldn't be a "server option" to give him a knife either.
  7. Cold days > Warm days. Winter and Autumn are my two favorite seasons. I'm more comfortable being cold than hot. It isn't nesessarily cold by me. It's been ranging from 0-50 degrees (F) these past few weeks. Mostly in the teens. There has been snow on the ground for about a month and a half now.. every time it is almost finished melting, it snows some more and stays there for another week. lol.
  8. The default vehicle limit wasn't 7, it was 8. The Harvester counts as a vehicle for your team, so that means the total limit is 8, but only 7 was the available for human controlled vehicles.
  9. I never did that. I'm not lying. I never really understood how people did it either... I tried, never worked.
  10. Mortar Humm-vee I can agree with.. But Flame Buggy? I don't see how that "fits the Renegade style" like you say..
  11. QUOTE (Pr0eX @ Feb 7 2009, 04:29 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I disagree with this. The missiles should have only been strong against infantry and aircraft. The cannons against structures and other vehicles. However, since it wasn't that way in Renegade, it shouldn't be different in Renegade X.
  12. QUOTE (epicelite @ Feb 7 2009, 01:51 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And... they are... it's on a new engine... Changing and adding things does not necessarily mean "improvement." What you are suggesting them do is not just remake the game, but instead change and modify it. That isn't the goal here. It's simply to remake a good game that everyone liked. Take an old game and bring it to modern-day quality. Not change it into something different. This mod wouldn't be worth all the effort if they started changing, editing, and adding things that weren't in the original Renegade and completely tarnish the gameplay that was set in that game.
  13. QUOTE (epicelite @ Feb 6 2009, 01:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It doesn't need an explanation. I planted the beacon there, and that's where I expect it to go off. I don't care if it ends up not doing any damage, but it should go off. Regardless if it is realistic or not. QUOTE (epicelite @ Feb 6 2009, 01:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Because... if they changed something, then they wouldn't be remaking it? If something wasn't in the original Renegade, like a weapon or a game breaking unit ability, then it should not be in Renegade X. That means no auto-repair, no damaging dealing repairgun, no SBH knife, or anything else like that. I'm not on their dev team, but it's really quite an obvious answer. They are remaking Renegade, not changing how it was played. Their goal is to remake Renegade on a new engine, fixing some slight bugs and implementing some new, non-game impacting abilities that weren't available in the old game. If they change the way the game's played, then they fail at that goal.
  14. QUOTE (Demigan @ Feb 5 2009, 11:11 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, it only takes the press of a button to see if it is a false alarm or not... not something that someone will pay "less attention to." I mean, unless they aren't a lazy dude who can't be bothered to turn his sound on or press K...
  15. I don't like the idea of disabling super weapons in given places. They should be able to be placed where ever the player wants. Now, allowing them to damage structures when placed in specific spots is a different story.
  16. QUOTE (BLuel4bel @ Feb 5 2009, 03:35 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If it doesn't do it LAN, it doesn't do it on WAN either.
  17. QUOTE (-Xv- @ Feb 5 2009, 01:37 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you can destroy a building that fast alone(I've never bothered to time it) then I was wrong about the alerts. If you can destroy buildings that fast, then the alerts come faster than I thought. Possibly every 15 seconds. Because I know for a fact that the alert will play at least twice before you destroy your target structure if you are alone and the building started at full HP. Also, one other thing that needs to be considered here as well is the fact that in Renegade, the announcements you personally hear EVA saying isn't necessarily the same as the ones everyone else hears, this includes the enemy team. I've been on LAN games where I would hear one announcement of a building being attacked, but the computer next to me says either nothing or announces a totally different building that was attacked within a reasonable time frame from the other. For example, you could put a few rounds into the WF to sound that announcement then jump to attack the power plant, but just because you heard that WF announcement, doesn't mean everyone else did. Some people might end up hearing the power plant announcement instead. QUOTE This is true, but the difference is is that it is in a massive group of tanks. In which case, when you notice the building you are repairing taking noticeably less damage, you would press J or K to check the other structures. Actually leaving to go and help the other structure is a different situation because you actually have to leave the one you are in and attempt to get to the one in need by going through the enemy attack. All in all, it is not a drastic change. It's end result merely increases people's information gathering by about a second. They still need the physical time to act in game, in which case, it will be like there is no change at all.
  18. QUOTE (Demigan @ Feb 4 2009, 11:23 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> But you can't do that anyway. Building announcements go off every 30 seconds or so. There is no possible way to destroy a structure with 1 vehicle in under 30 seconds. It has never happened to me in any of my years of playing Renegade. The only way to sneakily destroy a structure is to get inside of it and use C4. Using any sort of vehicle alerts the enemy of your presence and they will either visually see what structure you are attacking, or they will hear the building announcement and check the status screen. It makes no difference if you have to look to the left to check the structures or if you just press J or K.
  19. QUOTE (Jointn00b @ Feb 2 2009, 06:26 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree. I think the time, credits, mine count and vehicle count would look much better on the bottom of the screen. I don't see the need for the player A player B whatever thing on the bottom. Unless you move it somewhere else, like under the chat box or over the radar. (Making it smaller, of course) Also, I think you should stick with the original style reticule. Or better yet, make it like Crysis in that you have a bunch of different reticules and the player can choose the one they like best. Other than that minor stuff, it looks excellent! OH, one more thing. You probably noticed this already, but I'll mention it anyway: You shouldn't be able to see the amount of credits the other team has. QUOTE (Defeat @ Feb 2 2009, 09:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Judging by the way it looks, with the faded smaller weapons off to the side, I'm going to guess that the weapons "scroll" left and right depending on what you are using. Therefore it is only showing you the next weapon and last weapon to your current weapon. (So regardless of how many weapons you have, it will only show 3 at a time: previous weapon, current weapon, next weapon.) As for everything else, excellent! The light tank is looking awesome. Also I like the idea of making Scorpion Hunters a multiplayer map. Edit: When are you going to update your homepage? It hasn't been updated for the past 2 or 3 updates.
  20. QUOTE (epicelite @ Jan 31 2009, 07:23 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you made the polys invisible, then that means the lader would be invisible... Example: In that screen shot, the ladder was like this: Here is what a ladder of the same hight and type would look in Reneagde
  21. QUOTE (Demigan @ Jan 29 2009, 09:23 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's not what I'm asking. Completely the opposite of what I'm asking. I want to know if a stealth tank in the rain will be EASIER to see when they are cloaked. (Since the rain would hit the tank and roll off seemingly nothing) And by it shouldn't do physical damage, I meant just that. It's a repair gun, it shouldn't do damage AT ALL. Only repair.
  22. In order for a ladder to work like that in renegade, the "steps" would have to be a foot's hight. Meaning, they would end up being extremely high poly for something as simple as a ladder that is the same hight as your character.
  23. QUOTE (Demigan @ Jan 28 2009, 01:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually it sounds like a better idea to automatically hurt enemy units. I was against having the primary secondary thing specifically. The repairgun shouldn't do any physical damage at all. QUOTE (Demigan @ Jan 28 2009, 01:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Did you watch the newest RenX trailer? The rain during the Ion cannon strike seemed pretty vivid and noticeable to me. If rain in UT3 is as unnoticeable as you say it is, couldn't the team have just made their own rain effects?
  24. I think it's just the levels that look bigger.
  25. And? What is that supposed to mean? Back in September the announced that they had a "water layer" texture that makes it look as if rain water rolled off vehicles when it is raining..
