  1. It took forever for things like this to be in Renegade. Btw, I am up for this to eventually be a thing. Maybe one day servers with these would exist. Who knows though, we didn't know Crazy CTF would exist in Renegade until it did. (Big fan of that mode btw)
  2. Lol. What if anyone who donates, the devs allow them on the dev team temporarily. Wouldn't that be considered out of pocket funding instead of donating? I wouldn't even ask for a beta key then, but I would buy klondike bars all around.
  3. "Most people are used to playing Renegade on 10-15 fps anyway, with things teleporting back in time constantly every few seconds" Says most old players.
  4. There were passenger not seeing vehicle health, beacon linger after disarm and yes it was disarmed and didn't kill bar but it looked like it still would, passengers hang below the Chinook model, and changing a sidearm, class, and sidearm again cleared the class... small overlooks, even if not fixed they have no potential to decide a game outcome.
  5. Pfft, they would probably claim the klondike bar caused millions of dollars worth of damages in some way
  6. I remember memorizing hotkeys. Pressing 8 keys really fast in order to choose a loadout in half a second... Btw, r315raz4z0r, the passing of time of Renegade has stretched us all across years, but would you believe I am "GenKazuma" from A1Game Forum? Remember me and gah I can't remember my sister's name, hotwire something another... used to play with A1Game and Rengirl and them? It is probably a bad way to hijack a thread, I can't pm you the way your account is set up, so I thought I'd grab your attention here. That is all. Pm me if you like.
  7. Freeware. Pretty much the same as anyone else who makes freeware. Why did people make so many Renegade mods? There are over 40 player maps for C&C Renegade. Tiberium Technologies made a patch within the last year adding an automatic map loader to players who join a server playing a map they don't have, to load the map for them. What did they get out of it? Improving the community. That is why we salute their service to the community. But yeah, they would at least accept donations I am sure, if it weren't for legal obligation never to accept money for any work done on an EA liscensed game. Remember, EA is like Nintendo circa 1990, you make a game liscensed by them and aquire a penny in sales, they will sue you for cease and desist AND profit AND damages to their game which they WILL blow out of proportion. RE: Apple vs Samsung. So yes, because of all these issues, this game is 100% free. They said, in light of that, they will use the momentum of this game to start their own Intellectual Property based project, something they can perhaps build a standard business model off of, using this as their credit and background source. People seeing "Totem Arts" will want to support their new game, based off their charitable work. I honestly wish sometimes, they would start a kickstarter and raise some kind of funds to aquire a legitimate paper liscense to work on things like this, and expand it across Renegade, Reborn, Red Alert, and bring all this awesome together. That is unlikely to happen, but who knows what their next project will be. I will probably support it.
  8. I would give the devs a klondike bar. The better question is, what would the devs do for a klondike bar? Would they give a beta key away? Better question yet, do you think EA would sue if they accepted a klondike bar for this game? Who are we kidding, of course they would.
  9. Yeah, it sucks. I am just saying though. I would have got my Realm together for this had I known in time, but like most I found it about it too late for beta but at least just in time for open beta. Also, like the opposite of you, I join betas when I know they need bugs worked out, but from what I see this game has some overlooked missing UI features at most, nothing major, I would have been no help at all. Still, anything anyone else would do for a Klondike bar, I would do for a beta key >.<
  10. Oh, and it was recently brought to my attention that heads do in fact "disappear" on headshots lol. Just adding that here now that I know. They still don't explode, nor do they incorporate anything "red" from what I understand.
  11. Im primarily asking for others, I have a kickass windows pc, but some of my co-workers are die-hard mac OS users and refuse to even emulate windows to do anything (so convincing them to try this game isn't working out atm) Thats ridiculous. Some people were boycotting GTA5 because they only had a iOS version of their game-editing app. Why do people do that. It's modern technology, you just use some kind of hooks, it impresses people, yada yada. Why would you sound so dumb for not supporting a game acting like someone personally insulted your religion by not supporting it on your OS? It isn't insult, it is a lot of work to get a game working on one OS, a lot of re-work to get a game working for another one at the same time as the first, and the work is being done for free so it is asking for a lot... Really, I hope the devs can if it is in fact possible for that version of UDK. If not the devs, I hope a Mac user makes some sort of tutorial on a fix to make it work.
  12. While we are all eager to get in, lets have some fun and pass the time. What would you do for a beta key? I see tons of people ask for them one after another even when they hear there are none to be had till Feb. 26th. Really, it should be flattering to Totem Arts to have gathered this big of an occult following. I just hope they have a LOT of servers open on release. I estimate they will need more than 50. ____________________________________________________________ I honestly kick myself for not getting into beta earlier or keeping up until short noticed release, I feel like a sunshine soldier, but I usually participate in betas to improve games and give feedback because I am a game buff. However, I had nothing to contribute that wasn't already thought of for this game. The dupicate GDI character change, the mammoth tank getting doubleshot cannon on top of improvements I never dreamed of, the flying coffins being so good now. If it wouldn't cost them hundreds of thousands of dollars in EA lawsuits, I would pay them for a beta key right this moment. I understand if I couldn't have a beta key, but if I found any beta tester living in Houston, I would try to get on their good side so they would let me come over and play a game on their rig Technically the devs said that would be out of their hands, I just would have to find a beta tester that didn't find my sucking up to be creepy. (jk, I'd never go that far, but srsly, too bad I don't know someone from before who played renegade and now is on beta)
  13. Again, if things go south, use a mac-to-win emulator of some kind. At least until they make it mac functional, because they said it should be possible to run on mac.
  14. This was removed during beta testing by almost an unanimous vote. The reasons for the removal were, it was not very useful as a sprinting is way better for getting for dodging, to easy to accidentally roll, had allot of exploits related to it (you can roll up angled walls). Because the devs could not resolve all of these things the roll was removed. You get several grenades. Purchasing an airstrike gives you a pair of binoculars which you use to mark your target. They have the power to kill infantry and light vehicles like Humvees and Buggys. Thanks for sharing this! I thought the rolls were a bit much too, but I assumed they just werent worth using. Glad they are gone anyway. The grenades thing seems stronger and stronger every time I hear it. Maybe though, it only gets so many kills because you really got to use all of them to get a kill, I haven't played so I cant tell. Airstrikes I figured was a range thing (how else does someone airstrike a wf from out of base), I am also guessing going through a wall was a mistake or it was called at or in a door that opened, because instakilling infantry mid-building-repair is a pretty clutch building kill that is pretty reliable for lack of difficulty. Sounds strong enough though, as far as damage, aside from killing building repairing infantry.
  15. Oh, well if that is your opinion, I entirely agree with it, not for the same reasons, but because the game is signature in it's art style and while it has refreshing new graphics it would start to lose it's touch if it did too much of that. It's graphics aren't even half life really. They are just about like Renegade as far as gore goes. Only addition is ragdoll physics and the skeleton thing when killed with tiberium. And it isn't even a "mortal combat" style decay and melting away when they turn skeleton, they literally just pop into bones and fall to ground. Let me find some youtube clips to demonstrate it. It basically is the same as this game, Dragon's Lair:
  16. On the note of steam, hate to be slightly off topic, but while I am not sure steam will support a download page for free, I am not certain of their policy, I know there is a way to support a steam key system. The game uses it now, I am not sure it costs the devs anything to do it or not. I know PA uses a similar key generator system for players who purchase the game standalone and want to attach it to their Steam as well. If they can't directly support it on steam, maybe they can continue in that direction and just offer a key converter to link their standalone with steam. It won't have a steam page, but a player downloading it independently can get it moved to steam that way. Just a consideration, while it was in my mind.
  17. Emulate? I hear it is technically possible to play Unreal games in Linux. Has to be possible in mac then I think. If not, dual boot linux and play it through a side-install of Ubuntu or its derivatives. That is what I suggest to Planetary Annihilation players who have a x32 windows os and need a x64 to run it.
  18. <- Date I joined here is displayed under my name. Been with renegade since the C&C Collection, the original one with the box set of individual disks with the white cover with all the serials (nostalgia?) Will be great to have this revival. Hope the devs are proud that they succeeded at what every total conversion mod has strived to do for Renegade (though I liked APB and Reborn). This game will be good as new and it's players will strive to bring others to enjoy it's second coming.
  19. I don't want to hijack this thread, but when I see so many people going through such diehard lengths to get into this game just a month early, it really should be absolutely flattering to the development team to be this loved and important and have this big of an impact.
  20. Not sure. One other change I missed, is that this game is on a different engine, leading to many different small changes: -You can't use a purchase terminal through walls anymore -Explosives are blocked by walls, if they don't have line of contact they don't go through the wall to do damage (ie tunnel beacons killing nod refinery), airstrikes might glitch or intentionally break the rule from what I seen. -You cant walk backwards and shoot at the ground to glitch the oblesk into missing firing at you. -no things like "extras quantifigon" and "extras fqqrm" (no I did not have to look those up, I memorized those cheat codes as well as the debug mode for every Sega Genesis Sonic game) -There is no way to play without the same files as everyone else in the Unreal engine without servers refusing to show up. Therefore, no custom skins only you have and nobody else, like skins and reticles and models and weapons and such. Theoretically, only way to use custom assets, is to play on your own, or play with people with exact same file as you. Then again, this prevents bighead cheats, rainbow colored snipers and c4, stealth effect removed, and other classic cheats.
  21. I agree with EA. I am heavily biased against them, but I still openly say it. Some game developers, squad, mojang, uber entertainment, totem arts... they consider their works of art, their game designs, like children. A longterm commitment and the goal is to get it right and not just to profit. ...In regards to EA then, it is sickening because by comparison they practically profit off the blood of their children.
  22. I was one of those people watching it on and off for a year. Seemed so far away to release though. Been a lot of total conversion mods over the life of Renegade. I would be upset, like most, for not being wise enough to get into beta earlier, but I typically enjoy making sure to correctly guide developing games if I can help them in beta, and I can honestly say I was not needed here, every single implemented idea and small balance detail is so much better than anything I could have ever came up with. For instance, I had thought of mammy take rapid-doubleshot. However, I had never thought of giving it the pseudo-flexible firepower of a mrls between its two weapons, with two shells and four missiles total per reload. So much action in that tank. It seems every design decision is like that in this game. The old steady-use weapons like mammoth tank cannon and laser rifles, have turned into chunky firepower and burst pecking. Instead of holding a trigger and sweeping a bit, you have to actively guide shots and choose trigger pulls and fire different modes in the same gunfight.
  23. Actually, this literally cannot happen. Totem Arts has made an agreement with EA: as long as Totem Arts does not accept ANY money (charges, donations, et cetera), then EA will allow the project to continue. If you ask any of the developers how to donate money, they will say "nope". As a joke, they will tell you that you can feel free to donate credits in-match should you ever play on their team. I feel it is only fair, to give them a mammoth tank, ramjet, and beacon any time they so desire. Lol. The least we can do since it was their hard work that put the mammoth tank, ramjet, and beacon into this game.
  24. http://www.twitch.tv/thegunrun/b/496274723 Shows a few things. What I can remember: -Mammoth tanks now have two seperate weapons capable of firing in tandem, 4 short range rockets, and 2 shells, and the 2 shells have rapid back to back fire but a reload inbetween each two shots. -Transport helicopters have explosive round miniguns on both its sides now -MRLS turret swivels, not always-facing-forward. -Artillery and vehicle shells have a mild curvature to them. We aren't talking like a limp arrow from a hand crafted bow, we are talking when fired across the map it might hit a bit below the reticle. -Orca and Apache fire bursts of missiles with long reload now. Most vehicles now act a little different from classic. -Laser rifle on Stealth Black Hand now fires individual shots with long-duration-laser, each shot does a little more damage when held on an enemy, a little less when swept across an enemy, and requires pecking in gunfights. -A whole lot of weapons have Aim Down Sight, like auto rifles and PIC and Railgun and Volt Rifles and such. -Both Teams have Free Class Snipers, along with 500 snipers and Ramjet Snipers. They fire much faster, like 8 shots in 10 seconds, while the 500 and 1k have a slight bolt action animation added between shots. However, that free "marksman" class isn't high damage and each shot only does 1/10th the health of an enemy (pretty sure headshots dont kill) -Vehicle factories have "queues" now, so if you select a vehicle while someone else is already using it, it will finish the last vehicle and immediately get to yours afterwards, even if it has to do 5 players at once it will produce them one at a time. -Infantry can spint, and double-clicking the strafe and forward-back keys will roll. Both actions consume stamina, a new circular meter at bottom of screen. -GDI Patch now has an explosive round sluggish rate autorifle with close-range scope. Flichette gun is now a purchaseable secondary replacment for pistol. -GDI Sydney 150 unit, with tiberium splash autorifle, has been removed and replaced with a non-duplicate character (McFarland) with a "flak grenade launcher", bringing it inline as a t2 grenade launcher, compared with Nod's chem warrior being a t2 flame warrior. Tiberium auto rifle is a secondary weapon choice replacing pistol. -Other secondary weapon choices are the basic pistol, the heavy pistol with lower fire rate and clip size, and the machine pistol with short range but fast rate of fire. The tiberium secondary weapons are available if your team has a captured tech silo out in the field. -Choice between timer c4, or replacing it with a single grenade. -Unit death animations, when killed by tiberium they turned to bleached skeleton, when exploded or hit with high powered weapon they are sent flying. Note 5:18 in that video, when the enemy engineer gets shelled and flies right at the camera just overhead. -Donations and locking a vehicle you just purchased from allowing teammates to steal them, are part of the main game files. -Quick chat commands, such as repair or attack or spotted enemy, are now all done with Q key, and whatever you are aiming at will be announced to your team, taking out a lot of the "memorize quickchat keys" effort. -Classic beacons and 30 second disarm time are in, and there are new airstrikes are as well. Not sure how they work, but the airstrikes are not instakills, they seem to do heavy non-fatal damage (more fatal to infantry though), and are mildly delayed but faster than superweapon beacons. Probably missed a lot. Watch the video and other videos and have a read around, you will have a pretty fun time doing so methinks.
  25. That... Is a good question, as even though the game has very little actual blood or gore, I think it keeps that red gradient glow on hit, it has burning animation although not graphic, and an enemy killed by tiberium turns to bleached skeleton. Just to be certain, you know from what streams show, the only violence and gore, is explosions sending whole bodies flying ragdoll across the air, and thats comical at best (Team Rocket's blasting off again!). There are no heads falling off or blood puddles on the ground. Really, that is like playstation crash bandicoot type violence, but idk, the red glow from where bullets hit enemies was able to be turned off from the original. I am not entirely sure this was ever considered, even though this would be as good a game as any to be at least mostly child friendly.
