  1. Wasn't Dawn also? The more maps in, the better if you ask me Heard Henk is making progress to his dam btw... If we added them to patches, we could test them post-PUGs, and figure out what could make them worthy to add to the rotation. That is, if the community actually puts forth the effort to play them, otherwise there is no knowing if the map is playable or how to make it playable.

  3. Okay, look. This is already being discussed anyway. Between the actual people who are involved, the way it is supposed to be. Vertiso can't handle his own problems he occasionally digs himself into, he is hardly the person you ask about this. You were not globally banned. You were even requested to be globally banned, and declined out of the good grace of the dev team. If you were banned on CT, "citing racism and being toxic" is hardly a reason to keep a perm-ban unless you keep it up like you are trying to. If you were to stop now, then it would be discussed, that you probably didn't do anything enough to earn a perm-ban, and people would actually help you. Right now, you are being difficult to help. This is how you get into a permanent ban, not how you get out of a permanent ban. If anyone can help you, it is if you stop threads like these, right here and right now. Tomorrow, may be too late for anyone to offer help. If you want to discuss why you were banned, then you talk to the moderator that banned you, the server owner of the server you were banned on, and the devs themselves who try to maintain a community to play their game. If Yosh is hard to contact, and Agent won't discuss it because she isn't involved, and B0ng is on vacation, then talk to Rypel or Havoc89, tell them it was blown out of proportion and you were banned for a joke and were sorry about it and wouldn't make the same joke again, and they would probably personally request your ban be brought down to less-than-permanent. I repeat, you do not discuss bans by being toxic on public forums. You discuss them by being apologetic, to the channels that have authority, whether the moderator, the server owner, the patch/server dev-member, even the most senior active devs (which you failed to contact). I am merging all this, and changing the title, thank you very much. It is locked because it is a topic for PM and because your first post whence I merged it to was locked.
  4. Can I add before I say anything else, that 8 bullets and not hitscan, really brings down the use of "Marksman"? Could it be one or the other, ty? I would even prefer 8 bullets and hitscan even if headshot multiplier was fiddled with to keep it from being 4 hit kill on most infantry. That was fast, and is in fact a miracle. Hallelujah and Excelsior and all that good shit. Are... Are you telling us you set it for "HEALTH" at 10% and not "ARMOR" at 10% last time? That makes a lot of sense, thanks for taking the time to proofread the code and figuring that out, last time I made a game mod I made a typo it took me 7 versions to discover. Sorry, but I have to ask, does it sound like the Power Armor from Fallout 4?
  5. I did it last time. To be honest, I did it as a joke, changed mine back, and I make sure what team I am on anyway. It makes more sense, to tell people, and if you find them on the wrong team after the fact, simply kick them. But yes, they are warned that it screws with IRCBot automated team switching, it tries to switch the name of the player it "remembered" and if your name is different then it doesn't switch properly. That costs us more time setting up than it even really should, because stupid people aren't going to listen the first or fifth time so there is no point taking 8 minutes explaining not to switch names in-game. Here is another productive idea. Have the IRC bot, run a script, that skims the game-output chat, for the words "has changed his name to", and have it kick the text on the end of that little text. BAM. Auto-kicker for anyone that tries it. Make that mofo have to rejoin, and he damn sure isn't changing his name come hell or high water unless he does it through steam or at the launcher. ------------------------------------------------------- But more importantly, I think it will be good to have 2 servers evenly divided, that will cut down on "mass conversation" as well as improve gameplay as it is neigh impossible to do anything when you have to get through 1 person every 5 meters of square map. I was a Mobius spy on Volcano, and despite putting up a good act "firing at nod tanks" and backpedalling to base, I ran into like 6 people and it only took 1 (chuck) to notice me. If it were less crowded, I could blame it on "chuck being good" (he is), but as crowded as it was, it was mere statistics that I had no chance getting by 6 people meandering around the side of the Barracks for not much reason.

I don't think "Yosh is out to get you", I also don't think there is any reason to keep you perm banned, even if Yosh DID think there was some reason to keep you perm-banned I think there is enough evidence to have kept you temp-banned. But, as RypeL even said, while he doesn't think global bans should be thrown around lightly, talking about a udk aimbot hack is pretty taboo, especially naming one. If a joke name for one, it was a poor taste in joke. Vertiso has been known to get himself into trouble with poor humor himself (joking about ddoses), so it isn't specially you. If it's an actual cheat that exists, I still don't think you deserve a perm ban, but we certainly aren't going to apologize for letting you indulge in talk about things that semi-ruin the game. Snipers and skill and all are good and well, nothing can be done about all that nonsense, but getting a ton of headshots in a game from skill (which I always assumed you and Cannuck and others used) and then bragging about aimbots is very detrimental to players that don't know you are joking. I am saying this in context of that in-game chat by the way, people have brought up aimbots before and made it super-obvious sarcasm and there isn't anything wrong with that. Basically, we don't expect an apology from you, but we also aren't issuing an apology to you, and we also don't think Yosh is out to get you. Just have your ban disputed and removed, and continue on with life.
  7. Again, you are leaving loudly, when you neither have to leave nor be loud. You appear not to want to leave, in which case I would actually ask B0ng anyway as he is on vacation atm but would probably pry in to revoke your ban. Just leave him a message. There is a PUG tomorrow obviously, and I am pretty sure assuming B0ng will be present, that he would fiddle with the server on the spot to open your IP to join. I wouldn't even personally ask for you to apologize for what you did do as you are claiming you were just jerking around with Vertiso, I would just unban you and tell you to stop jerking around about aimbots and sniper balance updates when you present an intimidating presence when you snipe. You are going to make newbies if not anyone else question how serious you are or if it is just being allowed, and that will drive away at least 5 randies who could have been part of the community themselves if given a chance. I could be soft, but I would always warn before ban, would only temp ban someone who was doing something actually malicious to gameplay and wouldn't stop after a warning, and would only perm-ban someone who was actually destroying matches on a daily basis with hacks or exploits or network-flooding or something stupid. In your case, I would actually have rcon-muted you and probably for just a day at that. "Max" has gotten away with worse.
  8. OHHH MOTHERF.... THAT WAS ME! I COMPLAINED ABOUT THAT! THAT WAS MY STANK! I WAS TOTALLY CALLING HACKS AND JUNK TOO! Thanks for bringing it to attention. I actually feel less like trash now that I know it was SOMETHING. Someone told me it was timed c4 and I said that I was stealthed not them so how'd I miss it? EDIT: AWWMAN, kenz is right, if you use console "ghost" to clip through floor, then "walk" to unclip, you will fall through the floor but not be slain by the lava. I guess it doesn't have a damage volume... hmm...
  9. Yup, you cut me from that record, but I was definitely present and made a general comment about inaccuracies in the statement. Honestly, even I found snipers at least less of the time completely obliterate me in combat if I am using a faster class. Apparently, speed differences were in fact a big factor in reliable aim.
  10. You were in-game earlier today. I was minding my own Ps and Qs, but I did notice someone complaining about updates, and sniping, and misinformation about snipers and updates, but I wasn't paying enough attention to know if it were you or not. I don't know why anyone would take your opinion in a rant thread, more than you claim they should care about the dev's opinion. This isn't a civil war, it's a game. I wasn't aware there was such serious sentiments about snipers, that people have to claim they are being removed next patch, consolidated, nerfed, and all snipers globally banned. I mean, nobody has banned Cannuck yet (besides fffreak I think, but he legitimately thought he had an aimbot despite me informing him otherwise). I truly don't know what happened, but it sounds like you just want to try and go out as loud as possible, when you neither have to go out nor be loud about it.

  12. This was Jeff's suggestion, making mines more durable against repair. And yes, it was actually lowered this patch (per damage anyway), but it could always be higher. Then again, wouldn't you just eat the mines while someone repairs you instead? That isn't the more cost effective method right now, but it would become it. Don't mind either way, I just don't think the repair tool is OP. There are a lot of lethal enough infantry to get through infantry tunnels (though i disagree on tunnel design being so chokepointed), and infantry before the patch cost as much as tanks to not have any of the survivability, or infinite ammo, or field sustainability, or building lethality. I think, if anything, I have seen plenty of games where infantry or vehicles or buildings were wrecked by improper use of repair tool. It lacks infinite ammo, when a structure is shelled for too long it goes down. It lets a vehicle take a few more shots, but a hotwire/tech can negate damage and survive shelling while doing it.
  13. I'll remember that when I mine the Barracks. I personally like how the repair tool has just enough to diffuse a beacon and take a silo. Jeff is right, the mines can get more health so it takes more repair tool to diffuse them. Definitely for hotwire getting back old speed and a heavy pistol. The repair tools really aren't that strong, SBH were stronger before when they could take turns soaking c4 and then whip out a carbine if someone went looking for mines. Then, there were high level strategies like have 1 sbh set off some mines at refinery and make an ass of himself shooting the mct and junk, while 3 others quietly C4 them and GG them when they distract in panic all to the Ref. Now, SBH are 3 infantry, nerfed, against many buffed infantry, even autorifles now.
  14. Should make a new topic, but don't feel like it. On under, on the rock ramp going from GDI side tiberian field up to the top of the mountain, there are rocks that lack collision and you can morph your body in. Some bastard I will not name was using it as SBH to avoid being slain and then vanishing. Same map, under, on the rocks when entering Nod base, on the left hand side (across from the sniper perch and not on same side as sniper perch), there are also rocks you can body morph into to avoid being slain. Both cases, rocks seem to catch gunfire, but not stop you from walking inside of them, so the enemy has to try to walk inside of it themselves and shoot you from within.
  15. Did Schmitzburg do the fixes to the quotes and junk to the launcher? Because IRC command to join upon "player left game" is very ideal and you already have code for it and Agent should be able to help with IRC or ServerBot half of it. If Schmitzburg could do something with the Launcher, that might be a good route to take. Speaking of Agent, if Agent wanted to work on something like this, it is possible this could be added to server bot and IRC quick enough to make it able to handle joining from the in-game. Would it be easier then, to code Ren-X on the UDK level, to accept up to 14 people as "spectators" in-game, and just have a server bot handle "switch team from spectator to gdi/nod" at a first come first serve basis?
  16. I am not going to question you, but your post might already be more information than a public thread needs. Kenz3001 did say he got rid of overlap though, and Yosh said he is planning to patch just for the maps soon, so I don't think this is a real issue anyway. Since it is a short-time bug we are looking at, all I will say if you can read this, is: 1) do not follow alongside the very edge of the boundary, there is a chance the boundary will not remove your timer and kill you in your own airstrip. 2) If for any and every reason you happen to lose the timer when out of the map, get back into the map in a reasonable fashion, if you exploit it to take a 30 second trip around the map to the enemy base, the server moderators will kick you rightly so.
  17. Harder to do, but would be nice, if the queue lobby told you how many people were queueing and could chat with them. Then at least you could try to convince everyone to populate another server. Even better, if a game would end, and there are over 8 people in queue, that it would have a 3rd option for everyone in-game and in-queue, to migrate server, and if a total of 16 people opted, then anyone who opted would migrate to the sibling server.

To be honest, repair tool be damned, I scored a Bar kill on walls the other day, because other SBH wouldn't risk the door but I jumped off the roof ahead of them and couch-walked mines instead of letting them sit there waiting until it's too late. You can still crouch walk 2 mines as SBH, meaning 3 can crouch-walk 6.
  19. I can't be the only one that would both, watch a building explode into flames, and cop out via ragequit, before I would trade irreplaceable infantry with an engi to diffuse a beacon? It isn't that bad with mines, mines could always be made to be a bit tougher to diffuse anyway.
  20. Field is always like a game of Monopoly. You all vote to play it, sure. But 3 hours into it, everyone wants to flip the board over and just walk the fuck away. Which is odd, it isn't the patch's fault considering it was like that before, and every other map since the patch has seen lower play times with much higher building lethality. This is the only map. Some suggestions include, adding a powerplant where the AGT can't defend the door from infantry behind the Bar/Air, split off access between infantry paths and/or extend infantry paths, add a divide in base entrances between bunker and waterfall path so vehicles leverage their way out, or simply add more infantry cover to bases that already exist. All this update proves about Field, is the map is too rigged against you having LOS on enough buildings from field as vehicles, or being able to ever lay eyes on an enemy MCT.
  21. Good to hear it is an idea. However, just a heads up for now, a good "queue" is for you to keep IRC open until you see "* has left the game", with the game (not launcher) minimized so you can bring it up and immediately click join.
  22. Bottom One. Middle one has potential, only if you imprint the Ren-X lettering or icon into the silver of the icon or the red-text inside, because hanging overhead is what makes the bottom one more "matching looking".
  23. Ok see if it does. Another long shot, but if we ruled out game config, it may be outside-interference. Have you updated your graphics drivers recently, do you have beta drivers, and would it be reasonably easy for you to roll back to the very last drivers for your graphics? What graphics you have anyway, amd or nvidia, dedicated or integrated?
  24. It can't be exactly "scene fringe" anyway, that is disabled after "post processing effects" are disabled, if you truely turned them to 0 or false in settings config (probably manually). I know I don't even get the darkened screen if I leave map on Walls before I die, and mine is turned off. Okay, here is a longshot, but it will tell us if it's your files somehow, or if it's your config. Try my ultra-low settings in the link. Literally follow the instructions, copy and paste them, don't overwrite the iniversion number at the very bottom of the file and leave it the same, change framethreadlag if you want, remember to save and then right click file and set to "read-only", then launch the game and see if it does it (besides it looking like plastic/minecraft). viewtopic.php?f=13&t=75074&p=147964 Also, you can try to add this line of code between the first and second sections, not sure if it'll work: [scalabilityGroups] sg.PostProcessQuality=0
