  2. Patch is supposed to fill the role of "better chaingun than officer." Right now it's trying to be some kind of AV character. That's Gunner's role, he exists specifically to give GDI an edge in that area. You need to buy a mid tier character + old patch gun to match the LCG's dmg/hp, and old patch gun is way worse than LCG now because of the mag size nerf
  3. McFarland is a pretty bad character that along with new Patch really fucks up the infantry balance imo. Game would be better off with old sydney and patch having his old gun back. They filled roles that mirrored chem/lcg, but their new replacements don't fit those roles very well.

    The visual filters don't really do much? One of them lets you see through barracks walls only, there are 2 wireframe ones that would pretty much be impossible to play on, one makes everything black so you can't see where you're going at all, one turns off textures so a bunch of transparent stuff becomes opaque, and one is completely awesome and makes the game look really clean
  5. I'm not a good comparison because I have pretty much everything on low or turned off, but.. (by choice, not because the game runs bad for me) W7, GTX970, i5 2500k, 16bg ram, 512gb ssd, res 1080p

  9. 20v20 just feels like everyone joined a normal server. A bunch of people being on TS is nice but it wasn't anymore fun or exciting than the average pub imo. Would be better if we could break it down into 2x 10v10 or something. The original point of pugs was to promote higher gameplay but it's kind of hard to do that when there's always 19 other people there to pick up your slack. Maybe it's more of just a community gathering thing now though Also where is the pug server at? I get 120-150 in normal EU servers but this one I had 190-230 ping the whole time. I think the sfps was suffering too, damage from high rof weapons was coming in bursts the whole time
  10. 500 sniper is pretty much the same except more annoying to play as now. The rearm/reload audio isn't synced up with the new timings, and the actual ending of each sound could be more distinctive. I don't think the animation is in sync anymore either, but it's hard to tell because it bugs a lot for me anyway and blocks the whole center of my screen. The new changes might feel better if the sound/animations were fixed, but there were probably better changes to make. Some thoughts... -Too much emphasis on hav/sak being the snipers. They were better off as light armor counters, because light armored vehicles were supposed to have really strong weapons. -The scaling for light armor is opposite of Renegade. In ren 1-2 helis could scare the shit out of people but they kind of lost effectiveness if you tried to mass them most of the time. In renx 1-2 helis are pretty much a joke, while you can overwhelm anything fairly easily if you mass them. -Get rid of all movement penalties except for a slight backpedal slow, and increase movement speed in general. This is way more of a nerf to sniping than anything in the current patch, but it makes sniping harder in the right way. The scope/strafe slow makes sniper duels a joke, they're over in a couple seconds and whoever wins has all the time in the world to control the map.
  11. I'm sure adding a bunch of random crap like crates will work about as well as it did in the original. The vanilla gameplay, or at least the idea of it was fine. Games needs social features to stay alive now, and to rely on steam potentially providing that one day is naive. You don't need crates that give sbh spies and titans to survive, you need to keep people invested even when they're not playing. I hate when there's no way for server owners to control how the game is played, but in your current situation you're giving servers like EKT and TMX more influence over the gameplay than you have yourselves. It is fucking over the gameplay and will continue to completely ruin any vision you ever have for the game for as long as you allow it without restriction. Emergent gameplay is great, but renegade is not in a place where that's very beneficial to anyone, you need a healthy player-base before that comes into play. You've been in desperation mode since xmas, or earlier. Pick a vision and stick with it. If you want the guys running the populated server to design the game, get them on the team and listen to them. If you want them to fuck off so you can make your own game, tell them to fuck off (via restrictions) so you can make your own game. I don't see why "failure" could possibly matter at this point, the game has never been alive in the first place. Take a stance, stick with it, and promote it. Playing on EKT vs TMX vs CT was like playing completely different games, and when they started competing with "lol 7x TS crate spawn" it just went to show how much of a joke the game was allowed to become.

  13. nm CT had players today and it was way more obvious with a good ping. Confirmed ue3 continues to be shit above 60 ping
  14. Make dumbfire unique from tracking rockets in some way. Some combo or slower/faster, more/less splash, more/less dmg vs infantry/veh. There should be some reward for landing dumbfire rockets, probably something like lower splash radius, higher dmg, 10% faster. Maybe a slightly higher dmg multiplier vs infantry, especially if tracking is removed vs infantry (bad mechanic that encourages bad play)
  15. Vehicle gunner feature was pretty useless in Renegade. Generally flat and narrow terrain doesn't need a separate driver/gunner. It worked in PS1 because terrain mattered and because driving was more difficult, you were noticeably more capable in each role because there was much more for each to do and take into consideration. A dedicated driver/gunner combo in Renegade is counter productive, the gains are far outweighed by having that 2nd player rep you, drive another tank, or fill any other impactful role. Atm, and in the original, having a dedicated gunner puts your team at a definite disadvantage unless the other team is doing something even dumber. The only vehicle it could make sense on is the mammy with driver controlling the turrets and gunner controlling the rockets. But even then you'd have to rebalance both weapons and make the rockets gunner-only in order for it to play out well.

  17. Couple issues: -My sensitivity gets reset when I die. I have my Input.ini set to 5.0 sens, it shows 5.0 in the ingame settings, yet when I die it often gets changed to 6. I think if you change your sens after entering the game, every time you die it will revert to that first new sens you set, regardless of what you set afterwards. -The sprint bug. People firing in the opposite direction that they're moving is ridiculously annoying and makes the game borderline unplayable imo. It's near impossible to predict player movement in a fight. -My FOV gets reset every game, and every time I press ESC or go to the menu. Pretty sure this is because the slider doesn't go high enough. The slider maxes out at 100, but the game hardcaps FOV at 120 so you can still go higher than 100 via the console. That's great because capping it at 100 in the settings is retarded and I prefer 110, but having to "fov 110" in the console all the time is not so great. Issue appeared in B4, I fixed with a setting in Engine.ini in B4, but in B5 it apparently can't be fixed.

  20. Point wasn't to not test the changes publically, but not to make changes that drastically alter gameplay immediately. More gradual, more mix of data vs opinion, more thought/discussion

If the game had even 100s of people online at a time it'd be fine, but that is a seriously fucking massive change that will affect every aspect of gameplay, and it will be tested publically on what might as well be considered your official server... I misunderstood Bro and thought he said it was already live, which would impact pretty much everyone that tries to the play game. One person inflicting a change like that on a whim has huge potential to just fuck everything up

  23. Thanks, but those seem off from what's in the OP and what has been talked about here. The last few pages of this thread make it seem like you have a serious lack of direction in that group. You're doing too much too fast and are going to start compounding problems, making a huge headache for yourselves that you probably won't even feel like sorting out. Sadly, someone came in here screaming blindly, about a change we didn't make, a "not-change" if you will, about something in vanilla that... I guess they just noticed? (Artillery does 4.4% to structures) Looked like you were talking about the sniper changes already being ingame, my bad.

  25. It wasn't your words. It was from my post. And yes, I did not mention mag size or rof increase, but I will add it, and I thought it was implied-ish(?). I did mention chain bodyshots earlier. I don't know why they are quoting you. And, I don't know why they aren't playing the darn patch themselves which it would be fairly obvious when they look down at their clipsize and see 7. All it shows, is that SOMEONE didn't give the changes a try *rolls eyes* Had to change 75 dmg -> 60 dmg anyway. Why'd you bother posting about it all if everyone is going to find it ingame eventually anyway?
