The dark corners provide some hiding spots for infantry and stuff.. No they don't, not everyone is going to play with the exact brightness/settings as the pictures. And panning over the area will bring up the red box anyway (this is why trying to hide in lakeside waterfalls will get you killed) Just going to be a bunch of new players and people who think they're Sam Fisher sitting in corners waiting to respawn

You have no idea what you're talking about. The version of RGH that couldn't be blocked because it used a windows exploit was made over 2 years after RG released, and the maker agreed to not release it (he eventually started hanging out on n00bstories IRC). All of the public versions were blocked. The rg irc channel always had several kicks per hour with retarded people trying to run with rgh, bighead, bones, pkg mods, etc Most of what scripts4+ added was found because of renguard related testing... All of the shit released from UC we had figured out 1.5+ years before them. For some of them there were same-day serverside patches released lol

I haven't played in a month or so but there was definitely dodge jumping? There was an option to change dodge from a double tap to a keypress, maybe they made keypress default recently and you didn't notice?

There's nothing that really needs to be changed about the UT99-style gameplay, changing the gameplay is what buried UT to begin with. Once the game gets into beta they'll shift focus more to social features (think dota -> dota2, CSS -> CSGO). That and the modding will be what helps maintain a playerbase and sets UT4 apart from the other UT clones being made atm.

Any chance of changing the color scheme on xmountain? The huge amount of red/orange/yellow coloring makes screenshots and streaming turn out to be really low quality unless you have a ridiculous pc/connection. Also this map is almost entirely red+green so it'd be crazy bad for the most common type of color blindness

Some people actually realize that positioning/movement is more important than aim, so the "show me who killed me" feature is a pretty big nerf to these players. No need for a carebear feature like this in the game.

Something as basic as an aimbot transfers across all UE3 games easily. There are multiple communities/sites that are dedicated to making/selling cheats for UE3 games. It's done through injecting DLLs

With an auto-updater I assume you're going to try and pump out smaller updates more regularly? (ie 2-4wk small vs 2mo+ large)

Weapon drops are a joke that break the game completely. Game is crap when half the players have a shotgun/sniper/remotes/repgun/lg combo on a 1k char. With so few servers it would have to basically become a default feature in the game anyway, which could never be balanced ever

Scoping/unscoping is pretty much instant. If you really need to be scoped for more than a few seconds, just toggling it works fine. If someone gets caught out while scoped it's a player error. That drawback has a very very minor impact on balance imo, far less impact than rng on your shots.

All of these are awful reasons. Why are you/others pretending that scoping is somehow harder and more skilled? It's infinitely easier to hit someone while scoping, but you lose time. Or you could save time and not scope, but it's a bit harder of a shot. It's a trade off, that's fucking great. Why would you ever want to remove a legitimate trade off in favour of making a class more linear and boring? I'm getting flashbacks of HiRez balancing here. The box has absolutely nothing to do with it, it's still there while scoped and your target is massive so it doesn't matter to begin with. If anything scoping makes it easier to control which player you want to keep the box on. And comparing Ren to BF is probably one of more ridiculous things I've heard on these forums so far. Even renforums wasn't that dumb, and BF was actually decent back then, but still not similar to Ren at all. The similarities stop at "there are vehicles and infantry."

You have some studying to do Also you should want to snipe with high ping since it's hitscan. One of the better cqb classes in the game too

Lowering the reward on beacons is a bad idea, it's already rare enough to see people switch out of their character for a hotwire to disarm one, and the reward basically paid for the hotwire. If anything had to be changed about the reward it should have been in increase in points. The ramjet/sniper CoF also doesn't make any sense. The only reason provided was basically to prevent people from making long range shots without scoping? That doesn't seem like it was an issue at all, and is completely counter to the role you want the hav/sak to play. The damage nerf was overboard, should have been in the 175-190 range. Prevent body shot 1hits but leave TTK basically untouched otherwise. For infantry only, light armor damage should have remained the same (the heli armor buff was already too much)

Friendly infantry/vehicle collision is really messed up. When a vehicle runs into an inf, it pushes you forward (and jerks the screen around a lot) and then afterwards the inf warps back near to where they were before the vehicle hit them. I assume he's saying that if you do this next to a wall the infantry wont warp back afterwards -
Just remove the silo. It's too much of a "strong get stronger" mechanic. Then repeat on every map.

It doesn't do more direct damage (afaik, maybe it's a little more), it just seem like it has a larger "AOE", it's hitscan but the width of the shaft seems really really big so it's really easy to hit people with it Definitely the 2nd most efficient weapon for kills after 500sniper or carbine

Your gfx settings have nothing to do with your connection. It sounds like you're just using wireless. Go wired.

Only maps with no choke points had multiple tesla coils. No one should ever try to apply renalert balance to renegade, we made it different for a reason The only thing you might want to look at is how Ack varied the gameplay across different map designs, and didn't try to force every feature in the game into every map (ie how lakeside is a terrible map for helis)
