QUOTE (SkyHammer @ Oct 26 2009, 10:18 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What are they gonna do? Add 'no flaming apc's' under the 'no nuclear test' clause?
  2. QUOTE (Gandjak @ Oct 26 2009, 10:43 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Try out the officer as a quick unit in for instance city-flying. In city it's very important to either destroy or defend a harvester, buying the officer asap can turn a whole tide. And yes, most people would rather save for a sniper, SBH or a tech/hottie. Their loss in my opinion The patch IS ofcourse better then the officer. And will practically always win in a firefight assuming both players are equally good players. Still, if I want to go shooting lots of people up with spray weapons, officer is my choice when uncle sam isn't very generous.
  3. QUOTE (Kelazun @ Oct 25 2009, 07:08 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They were officially in renegade SINGLE player, never in multiplayer. If you check the FAQ, you will find that visceroids are not going to be included in the vanilla version.
  4. QUOTE (Kelazun @ Oct 25 2009, 02:07 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> His cost effectiveness? An officer is 175 credits. he deals as stated by Mightybob, and as he is working on the mod he should know, 10 damage each round that hits. The patch deal the same, plus a little tiberium poisoning which no one will be waiting for during a lightning fast firefight where it might cash out 20-40 damage max. So what are the advantages of a patch? He deals tib damage, very small advantage He has near pinpoint accuracy, giving him an edge if you are very good at aiming at moving targets. He had 50 health extra on the officer. All in all, for 450 vs the 175 of the officer, that seems a little low to me. I don't really know the stats, but my experience with other characters varies. A gunner is only better then the patch when you fight in tunnels, such as Islands. Your enemy can't strafe very far and if you hit walls you still hit them. But you never see people try gunner vs infantry in for instance City, walls, complex, only in maps like Islands as most of the fighting happens in those tunnels. Mobius is less good vs infantry then the patch. Unless you are directly shooting them in the head. When me and my brother do a dual team and one of us takes patch and the other mobius, then the patch is the one raking up the kills, whoever of us have him. His advantage vs tanks and the first few shots vs unsuspecting people make up for that. I never understood why you would try to find SBH with a hotwire. The repair beam barely extends outside the range where you can see them anyways, if it extends outisde that range at all. And the extra disadvantage that you have to switch to a pistol and try to keep up with a barely seen shimmer in the air.
  5. and comparing a flamer to a med is rediculous. The flamer is MUCH more powerfull in close quarters combat, or when close to buildings like the AGT. The med is medium in everything, armour, damage, speed, range etc. Which makes him very powerfull on the field. Most flamers will die before they reach their destination. But once it gets there, the flamer has the most powerfull damage/sec ratio there is. It's the only vehicle that can damage another vehicle faster then a hotwire can repair.
  6. You said the officer is only a certain % or so of the patches worth. But I was seeing it the other way: how much more expencive is the patch compared to the officer? Officer: 175 creds Patch: 450 creds officer is 38% of the patch price? (175/450) patch however, is 157% MORE expencive then the officer price. Which was what I'm getting at. (450/175) But, We'll see who's right after a few test rounds, perhaps it will actually be better this way
  7. QUOTE (zunnie @ Oct 23 2009, 04:47 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Would be even greater if you could type a part of the name, but not neccecarily the beginning or the end. It is probably hard to code, but some people use type in their name that is very hard to find, from stars to vertical lines and dots and so on. It would be easier if you have a name like: [MP]|zunnie|I◙╚ All you type in is zunn and, if no-one else has that part in their name, it will be donated. I sometimes stumble across this kind of thing.
  8. Ok, my point is: The patch is more then twice as expencive he does NOT have twice as much health, nor twice as much damage even for good players and incalculating the bigger spread of the chaingun. Both small advantages added up still doesn't come up with being twice as good as the officer. An officer doesn't have to watch out for when he has to reload, so he can also take potshots that would normally get him closer to reload time and reload time means damage taken. All in all, While yes the patch IS better, it was marginally better before and without the reloading its almost nothing. So the 157% extra money payed for the patch is a little too much. meaning either the patch needs to cost less or be upgraded, which I'm against, or the officer having a downgrade or costing less, I'm for the downgrade on the officer, in this case: making him reload again. Later on in the weekend I'll finally have time to boot up Renegade-x 0.36 and I'll experiment with it a little to see if you are right or me. I hope the properties of both characters are already exactly as in renegade so we won't be biased by that.
  9. Did you see a price-tag anywhere? No, so my first guess would be that it's not made by EA . While there are lots of nice, talented and friendly people working at EA, the EA top is a bit more economicly focused.

    Arrow Keys

QUOTE (Jointn00b @ Oct 22 2009, 12:13 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What he said. Simply place them as a secondary at where the 'a' and 'd' keys are, I think they are under strafe. But I don't know if there was something seperate for vehicles.
  11. QUOTE (R315r4z0r @ Oct 21 2009, 05:02 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Or it falls into scrap metal, crunching under your tires. Having it block only one or two shots is best I think. In a full blown rush both teams are eager to kill off everything, it's likely that the defending team will fire so many rounds that any vehicle destroyed will have it's shell blow up almost instantly, and if not, then it takes one round to take out that wreck to make sure it doesn't impede your progress. Yours sincerely, Demigan.
  12. QUOTE (R315r4z0r @ Oct 21 2009, 04:59 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> -Yes, but vs most snipers it makes no difference. And if you buy officer after officer, you end up with more health and time to damage people for the same amount of money as a patch. And don't start with 'but you'll die more' because K.D. ratio means nothing, and you don't die that much more. The officer has how much health? 150+100 armour, the patch 200+100 armour. 50 health is barely anything. If you start off with one second of bad shooting you already lost that much if not more. They both die with 2 shots from the ramjet, and they both die with 3 shots from the normal sniper. -Yes, and one of the things why the chaingun and the laser chaingun are very good vs people is because they are the few weapons that don't need the pinpoint accuracy of other weapons in the game. Aiming nearly on them works just as good as on them, while other weapons HAVE to be aimed exactly on them or in front of them as they move. -They do equal damage as far as I know, with tiberium damage afterwards. But it doesn't always do tiberium damage afterwards, and it's of short duration. All in all, I found the difference between officer and patch rather small to start with, but with the bonus of never having to reload, that difference barely exists.
  13. I'll wait untill Mightybob is done with his reply and edit this But Pics were going to be improved vs arty's, and arty's just got a lower armour type. Perhaps a little mix up?
  14. I honeslty don't see why it would be such a big problem. the PIC and railgun are exactly similar in ways of gameplay, only it's look would have changed. and that didn't even happen, as it's just the death message system and I've seen lots of full price games which have wrong death messages even after patches. Yours sincerely, Demigan.
  15. Buffalo's attack lions video I was actually looking for a slightly modified version of the video. But it's quite a strange mix of circumstances in the video and might be worth a laugh.
  16. I thought that in later patches there would be something of health on a wreck. So that anyone attacking a base would expend only one shell or so on a wreck and be capable of continueing their attack. This would add some strategy, think of people pushing a wreck in front of them, refusing to shoot it untill either an opponent does it for them and hoping to get some closer before the pummeling starts again, or shooting it instantly to keep the rush going.
  17. QUOTE (Ban4life @ Oct 19 2009, 08:52 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I actually agree. Even late game, I sometimes use the chaingunner. A patch is simply more expencive but he lacks enough extra firepower to be worth it when fighting ramjets and other snipers. Making him unable to reload somehow deminishes his stragetic feel to me. Keeping an eye on how full a clip is has always been one of my greatest advantages over other players. You will rarely find me reloading prematurely, I always go reloaded into a fight. But having a cheap trooper with quite a lot of power to a skilled player WITHOUT reloading? Watch infantry fights and you'll see that people constantly keep track of their ammo, when they get close to reloading they will draw towards cover and get behind it when they reload. People who don't lose too much health right then as all the jumpy dodgy stuff stops and the aiming goes up. I actually think that the officer will now outstrip the patch when it comes to attacking people. A patch, even with that short reload time, needs to keep track of his ammo, and take cover when he gets close to reloading. An officer with this chaingun? I could probably mop up 90% of anyone in a firefight with any other player as long as snipers are not allowed, and have enough health to go in for another round. Yours sincerely, Demigan.
  18. Field seems the right scale, but if hourglass is not the same scale, then the developers can do 3 things: -change the scale. If you scale hourglass back to the renegade size, which might be difficult. -Change the vehicle and weapons paremeters. If you change it, you could make a compromise so that on either map the renegade feel and balance, as far as we want the original balance, is emulated best in both maps. But this will always be a compromise, changing the paremeters to fit the hourglass map will defenitely change the gameplay in the field map, probably imbalancing it on field as meds would suddenly be able to shoot the Nod entrance from their GDI entrance just as well as artillery's would be able to shoot them. Giving GDI a great advantage because they should use their armor to close that distance. -Change the map. If it's not an exact remake do the scaling size, you could simply add more so that advantages and disadvantages are diminished. But, people will go and complain that it's not the original. But hell, if you want the original, Renegade is still out there!
  19. I have a question: horologe? I saw some people playing on it (it's a 0.36 server), what kind of map is this? The intromap?
  20. Responding to gigmaster, I would like to create one of those 'I ain't got anything better to do' threads. Here is how it works: You post a picture, with a slogan: 'It's better to give then to receive' Now the next poor person has an active grenade, he has to find a picture, and put a random slogan beneath it that would have him evade this problem: 'The brave disarm the bomb, the clever wait behind a shield untill the brave are done' The next person has to find something against this shield, it doesn't have to have anything to do with the grenade anymore: 'if you make a plan, make sure there is no hole in it' Either start a new one or continue with a hole. Have fun.
