Some questions from me to the people who tested it: Did you see a seem between the 2 terrains, between WF and tunnel? (weird squares on the landscape_ I saw it the first time we tested it, but the next time the seem was gone. If you do see it, could you start the map up for a second time and check if it's still there? The balconies, I got feedback about making it possible to jump off at least one of them, so, the upper one or the lower one? Already noted some points where you can get stuck at that were shown to me during the test session, but post them all anyway in case I forgot one.

What I like about mines as opposed to a laser door or blast doors is that anyone understands the concept of what mines do even if you've never played a shooter at all, they explode when you walk over/near them, simple as that. People would understand those other concepts eventually, but it'll take more time and probably be confusing to a lot of players. I don't think more complexity is what the game needs. Oh and another idea: having a Ctrl or Alt shout for mines lost/losing mines?

I'll be there

So yesterday I came up with an idea to help against bad mining and overmining.. What if mappers could set some sort of "Designated Mining Area"-volume, and then show that volume when someone has mines in their hand? Some mockup images to show you what I mean: Make those areas flash a bit, and when they get close to it, show a message like "Put mines here, mine limit: [9/20]" Maybe show the mine limit to people anytime they're putting down a mine anyway btw? Together with that blue progress bar? Most cases when someone mines in bad places, he/she doesn't have any bad intentions, seeing the game give these guidelines will help players who are new to mining. I think this will work even better than having a video tutorial.

Already more content than Star Wars Battlefront EA

Oh it's images? thought it was being rendered realtime. Images means we all get to see high graphics settings

I like them, does the game pick 1 shot at random, or does it show all of these shots? Is this a big improvement on the framerate? Oh maybe we can have a video on the main menu?

year/alltime would be cool. One idea I had was to store the data each week so people can see how their skills have progressed over time, with a timeline graph. Maybe also the amount of minutes played. So you would be able to see your score, kills and deaths per minute/hour of each week, and notice how you've gotten better, or worse at the game. Sadly there would be gaps in your data if there were a period of more than 2 weeks where you haven't played, nut it's better than nothing. Small update: added some responiveness, and made the table look the same in Firefox as it already did in Chrome. Removed the Red Tiberium Badge from scores so every category has 5 ranks.

Nice! Some things you could improve in my opinion: - The terrain colour, the grass colour looks a bit mossy instead of grassy, or maybe it's just the colour of the light. - The rocks are a bit shiny, try to take down the specularity a bit. And maybe also add some colour variation to the material. - Some parts in the tunnel look a bit dark, maybe add some small point lights. - And I think the landbridge would look cooler if the bottom/support was a bit more curved

(Kind of) fixed! I uninstalled, removed everything, deleted everything related I could find with regedit, and re-installed, still had the problem. However, I don't have the problem when I use my integrated graphics (intel) instead of nVidia, but this meant I had to put the graphics to lowest, and then tick off the remaining graphics settings boxes, and set my resolution to 1366x768 instead of 1080p. Framerate was usually between 30 to 40. So that's one solution.. But it's already improved a lot now that I turned off Thread Optimalization, rest of the settings are set to default. I don't think I have any SLI options, it only shows my Nvidia GPU in the settings, not the Intel one (not worthy of the title of GPU I guess ). It still happens a little, but rarely so far, it's playable again now.

You need to have Steam running, and the leaderboards were reset last saturday.
-
At the moment that kind of info isn't saved into the leaderboard dataset. Only things I can add with the data at this point is ratios, and hours & minutes the player has played. And that's only if they played it within the last two weeks. Are there other games that show on Steam as if you're playing "Unreal Development Kit"/have appid 13260? My guess is not but that would also be a problem if I wanted to show hours played. I'd love to have more data, like specific weapon or character stats, headshots, building and vehicle kills, doing X on map Y. Combining with the veterancy system would be cool, and can be done if it's saved in a readable fileformat , preferably in the same dataset but a second one can be done as well.

Hi, Link: http://renxleaderboards.com/ Let me explain why I made this: I have a school/college assignment where I, in short: need to create a website that offers a product or service for people, and then do Search Engine Optimization on it to get a high ranking on Google and pass SEO Checkers. I already fiddled around with the leaderboard jsp file for a previous assingment, so I figured, why not use it for this assignment. It was no problem that there already is a leaderboard page, you know, the official one, it's even better for my assignment actually. Now about the leaderboard itself: - It uses the same data as the official leaderboards. - Has sorting, like the official leaderboards - Quick searching/filtering (no need to press enter or a button after typing a name) - Show: 100, 250, 500, All - Click on any username to see badges/achievements and their progress. I hope those badges/achievements add even more reasons to play for people They could be prettier, I know, I'm not a great artist. If anyone has some art skills and wants to help, that would be awesome. GDI ranknames: Private Corporal Sergeant Special Forces (badge ideas?) Commando (badge ideas?) Nod ranknames: Initiate Disciple Brother (better ideas, anyone?) Black Hand Inner Circle For kills I want to use something different, if anyone has any ideas, post them! Please note: I haven't optimized the site for mobile yet, and in Internet Explorer (if you use that..) the table isn't centered, but all the way to the left. If some badges are huge, try F5 or Ctrl+R. I also want to give thanks to MarkSchnayder for the PHP code that generates the table! I had it working with javascript but it didn't work online because I couldn't get CORS to work, but this works just as good

Agree it could use a bit more power, I barely use it. Now we're talking about the Grenadier: The game overall has good sounds, but the shooting sound of the Grenadier could be better, and louder in my opinion. It sounds a bit weak I think.
-
I can be there before PUGs, and most fridays. If you want to do it after the PUG it's fine by me too, just hope the games get recorded if so
-
Isn't this only the case if the team you were in lost that game? Because the leaderboards were reset on saturday, I left 2 games before they ended (no ragequit, just had to go), and I only see 1 game lost, and I was there, in-game, when we lost that game, that wasn't 1 of the games I left. But I think it's better to just focus on the positive things someone's achieved in-game, not the bad things.

Moved over to the latest version of the SDK and placed some more blocking volumes just to be sure. Here it is, public download so more people can test: https://www.dropbox.com/s/yfyxcfs0zhckvzn/CNC-Snow%20v1.2.zip?dl=0

Thx for finding that, very easy to fix. Update: Building lights Update 2: Done.

I was able to break Snow in about 5 minutes. The latest version (1.1)? I couldn't PM it to you, sent it to Ruud a couple of days ago. Can you private message me the issues with the map? Edit: I see the snow release topic now I'll check it out when my class is over.

So I noticed on Lakeside that when you spawn, in the first half second it looks like you're falling down, also noticed it in gameplay footage of other people: http://renegade-x.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=75936 I opened the map in the SDK, and all objects are placed at the Z coordinate of around -5000, I'm guessing that's what causing this, your spawn points can of course be higher or lower than 0, but -5000 is a lot. I guess the engine has 0,0,0 as the default spawn location, and then checks where your spawn point is and moves the cmaera over to there, normally you wouldn't notice it, but travelling from 0 to -5000 takes some time and that's why you get to see the "falling" when you spawn. That's what I'm thinking. It's purely cosmetic, but changing it is easy, as long as you want to heighten everything on the map (which you probably will), and then rebuild lights, that's all.

Put a trigger volume in the level, If you plan on having bots running around, make sure you place the volume somehwere the bots don't touch it, like far from the paths or on a building ramp. And then make it trigger the endgame camera in Kismet. You can watch Kenz's basic tutorials if you don't know anything about UDK yet.
-
Every map has a Kismet reference to the endgame camera, the best way to get what you want is to open up UDK, put a trigger somewhere, that if you touch it the endgame camera starts. From that point you can record it without the scoreboard. Forgive me if i'm wrong as I just came home from a night of beers, lots of 'em.

I read it and it's all about connection with the server, but I also get the problem in Skirmish and on the menu screen. Anyway I tried adding DynamicPingThreshold=400.000000 to the [Engine.PlayerController] section in UDKGame.ini, but no difference.. What I did with the command line arguments was force the game to run at 60FPS and Ultra settings (this meant everything went in slow-motion or my laptop wouldn't be able to handle it), and output a screenshot of each frame to a folder. I wish I still had those outputted images, because they were in the wrong order. I'll try to explain; it would for example skip frame #65 and then show it after frame #69, and that is exactly what is still happening, even though I removed the Command Line Arguments.. Ryz mentioned to me that there might be some remaining settings files in the Windows Registry, does anyone know where to find those and delete them?

Very nice Question: Now that you're working on the launcher again, is there a chance the preview images of the new or day/night maps will be added to the launcher? Canyon, Field, Mesa for instance don't have an image now.

Sounds logical to me, and it would be awesome.
