  1. There wont be need to mine the buildings even if server is full. The doors just wont open to member of opposite faction.

Placing mines around the buildings or at doors will be something like defence bonus but It will not be necessary.

It's absolutely necessary, since you just said a single C4 would destroy them for one minute.

  2. I'm not sure what you mean with point 1.

    2) "GDI Weapons Factory Destruction Imminent". If you are going to take away a man's weapons factory, damning him to 2-30 minutes of being sandbagged all friggin game depending on the situation, at least give him the most of the benefit of the doubt, and play that sound at the structure 25% mark. I haven't seen it needed as much in RenX when I played, what with structure icons and them turning red, and the Q callout becoming more urgently worded, but I still feel it needs to be a given.

But would it really pull more people towards repairing that building?

I think the people that are in base and see themselves in the repairing role, are already watching the icons and building HP anway.

Most of the people at the frontlines or on their way there never turn around anyway, because if a building is already down to 25%, it's either gone or the force at home can stop the assault within the next ~30 secs.

  3. The building will be protected by new door system, which wont open to a member of the enemy team. But you cant still increase this door defence with your mines. I can clearly imagine 5 techs who will deploy 30mines behind refinery in early game, but its not necessary.

Your idea is balanced around having many players.

If the server isn't full, let's say 10vs10 (which is not that uncommon), then a side would need a good 5~7 techs/hotties just to mine all the buildings.

With the way it is now, even 1 miner is enough, and usually it's 2~3 people.

  4. Absolutely agree with Ryz, none of these suggestions seem good.

I rather invest in another way of organizing mines AND we are doing a tutorial. Furthermore I also think that a big part off the game is the fact that new players join a MULTIplayer game and act like they are in Skirmish. They cannot and will not communicate thus making things a mass, for example by continuing with over mining or handing out vehicles.

Yeah, we two have seen it on Walls yesterday, playing as GDI.

I don't wanna say a name, but a guy just wouldn't listen and afterwards he said he was treated unfairly.

  5. Sorry, but being able to buy a normal repair gun is not too much.

If you have a team of two LCGs, each with a repair gun as secondary equiped, that's basically a duo that doesn't need to run back until they are out of ammo (which they most likely will).

  6. Yeah, at this point in the game with engineers and tech running around with carbines, I think buying basic repair guns as secondary weapons would be perfectly fine.

    Hm.

But would that end up being in any way useful?

I can't think of any class that'd profit from buying a repair gun that replaces it's main weapon.

  7. You are really in a rock and a tight place. Really, I agree with them to a small degree, that you are incredibly lucky this runs on what you try it on with the most minor of UI issues. I seen some games have unclickables off screen for instance. This doesn't even place info off screen, just in odd sizing spacing onscreen. You are REALLY lucky with your specs you aren't limited to minesweeper and free cell, which don't get me wrong are great games tbh.

Only Windows games might be a bit too harsh. lol

He can still play games up until 2007 or 2008 probably and emulation for the 32 Bit era shouldn't be too much of a problem.

  8. In classic renegade rencorner you have a UAV crate. That would be cool in renegade X or just a uav killstreak.

Making crates less simplistic again is a thing that hopefully happens in the future.

Kill streaks would be a really bad thing since it'd make the game even easier for camping sniperkids.

  9. Nah guys, they really should limit any callout someone makes to 3 in any 30 second period, and 6 of any kind per player in any 30 seconds. Original Renegade had that, but it was less strict than described and could benefit from more strictness.

I find the spam actually quite a necessity.

If the spam would be restricted to what I wrote above, then people would adjust to that.

  10. Well, as I've already said, regenerating armor would be the worst that could happen to this game.

A deployable, single-use healthkit that replaces C4? Sure, if you absolutely feel the need to bring such a thing with you.

  11. Really? New systems are more common? More expensive systems are more common than cheaper systems...

If they are so common, you wouldn't mind parting with one, because I sure could use one...

Not sure what stats you actually mean, but here are the Steam HW statistics:

    http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey

    640x480 only has 0.01%, it's absolutely unpopular.

I was talking about the Renegade X playerbase and people that play these kind of games.

From my experience, they have at least mediocre setups so they can run the game at native resolution with a stable framerate.

And of course it's just my opinion that devs should, at some point, just not care about really underpowered hardware. You have to cut off your support somewhere to still be able to make technological advancements (not just graphically, but also in areas like physics and AI).

I too own a netbook, but I'm very well aware that I can't play shit on that thing. lol

Just to be clear, I don't own an ultra-high-end setup either. For example, my GPU is just an HD 7870, a low mid-range card.

@Handepsilon; That kind of laptop is just not made out for playing anything 3D and even remotely recent. Certainly not in an acceptable resolution.

I mean, look at these results:

    http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-A-Seri ... 639.0.html

    http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon ... 651.0.html

  12. Needs support for lower resolution. Can barely see anything at 640x480 resolution. Please support those that runs with slow computer. Thanks in advance

    640x480? Really?

I hope this doesn't come off as too arrogant, but I mean, at some point as a developer you just have to cut off the support. Supporting really, really, REALLY old systems means not being able to put that time and work into supporting newer systems, which, quite frankly, are much more common.

Besides, RenX runs on low settings even on pretty old hardware. I tried it with my old dual core and GTX 460, hardware that is more than 5 years old.

What setup are even you running?

  13. Alternatively, being able to reduce radiospam client-side would be great. E.g. I don't need any radio command to be spammed more than 3 times in 30 seconds by a single person.

Radio-spam is a staple of Renegade in some weird ways.

That said, best improvement for those would be to be separate from the actual chat.

I am very well aware of that and I've never been a fan of it.

An option to have two chats next to eachother with one dedicated for radio commands and one for text chat would be great.

  14. Don't know whether this has been discussed before but I'd personally like to be able to hold a key to bring up a full screen/largish chat log of say the last 20 chat messages (excludes the generic messages such as Defend Building, attack etc). I am aware of the chat log in the ESC menu but I'd like something quick and as far as I know the ESC menu chat has all the generic messages mixed in

This is the only thing I really want in terms of GUI improvements.

Alternatively, being able to reduce radiospam client-side would be great. E.g. I don't need any radio command to be spammed more than 3 times in 30 seconds by a single person.

  15. Did you noticed mammy can slowly regen itself?

Yeah, because that thing costs 1500 credits. It better be something special.

Health regen ist trash and will just make people camp until they are regened. And when people camp all the time, a shooter automatically gets worse.

I'm going to repeat myself and nothing you say will ever "convince" me of the opposite, it's by far the worst thing that could ever happen to Renegade (or nearly any other multiplayer shooter, for that matter).

  16. Its bad, its always bad but nobody can explain me why.

Then you don't want to see the fact that, undoubtly others have pointed out to you countless times, having auto-regenerating health destroys teamplay. It's happened in every single online game ever that has (introduced) it.

Whats point of the rest of characters then? They are useless in field. They cant heal, they have low ammo, low damage, they cant destroy buildings, disarm mines, they never get very far if they meet enemy on road. Suicide characters. They are good only for fighting between each other and jumping on mines. And cant repair tanks which are so important for leading battle.

Its stupid to counting on engi to heal you becouse nobody cares about you if you are useless.

Only tanks, engineers and rocket soldiers and SBH (raids)-this is the only characters which are useful in game. The rest is annoying meat for grinder.

I have no other way to put it, but it seems you just plain suck at this game. Or maybe teamplay in general.

There are more than enough games out there that don't need any dedication to your team to win a round, Renegade(X) isn't one of them and that's exactly why we love it so much.

Your way of thinking is precisely what killed off so many online games for me.

  17. Imo there shouldnt be any K/D and Deaths displayed in scoreboard. Only kills, assistance and score.

Even if I am top in scoreboard, my K/D pisses me off sometimes and I am not the only one.

I think this little change would make big things in this game.

    Agresor

I don't mind not knowing the K/D of others, but I absolutely want to know mine.

  18. I remember hearing how people thought Nod was weak and there were more GDI maps but I played on some Nod sides where there was team work and we obliterated GDI on almost all maps, especially all of the ones labelled as GDI maps. I used to think some maps were more GDI or Nod favoured but in most cases, the larger and / or improved maps simply highlights more the deficiencies in team play.

Yeah, I remember during the first ~3 days after b4 launched, so many people were crying about GDI being totally OP.

But in reality it just took people some time to adapt to the new maps and balancing.

  19. The original Field wasn't much different.

Why can't we have a map that still plays in such a simplistic way?

Besides, the infantry sideways already make it possible for a heavy armed crew of 3~4 people to break up most sieges.
