  1. I'm not sure if there's any but I've never seen any. Basically, something that appears above your head (an icon) so you can tell its coming from you (only when relevant). For example, I can spam "I need repair" all day and nobody will ever repair me. Well, there's the fact that everybody is clueless right now but just hearing it as a command vaguely doesn't help. I feel the same way when repairing, try to find out which of those tanks ACTUALLY said it. This is useful for a lot of commands like that one, move out, fall back, etc... Map-wide commands are too vague, but a visual notification makes people look at you and consider what they just heard.
  2. I utterly disagree with you wanting the Ramjet rifle back to its glory days. Its STILL incredibly powerful, I'd nerf it even more. A good sniper can still pretty much ruin the entire game as far as I'm concerned, but thats not a competitive side of it, just me getting bored to death when snipers dominate everything from field to tunnels. I agree though that the crosshair is awful, it should have a dot if its going to be 100% accurate, in fact everything should have a dot (some tanks don't have them for example, its just annoying). Interface shouldn't be getting in the way of using a weapon, if they really wanted to make no scope impossible with the snipers then just do that (but that would make people like you incredibly mad). I'm also against the removal of weapons you can buy, but hey, I'm not a serious player. I wish we could buy a Repair Gun on any character (at a cost). I played with weapon drops back in Renegade and loved it. I want crazy. But for competitive matches, can't they be turned off? If not, it should be made possible, if the competitive community wants it that way. The orca and apache (the orca more) are definitely in need of a buff. MRLs is overpowered, I kind of agree. At the very least, it shouldn't get easy locks on everything. Artillery is fine. Drop off makes it hit in places it couldn't before, its great. Range is fine, so that not every map and every corner devolves into artillery abuse, and they still have good enough spots. Other vehicles have same or better range, as far as I know, so I'm not sure what you're saying there.
  3. I actually decided I won't play Field and Mesa II anymore, ever. They're just too dark. I ******* cannot stand dark maps. I pump the brightness up and I still can't really see anything thats going on, anywhere. Snipers are just invisible in so many places and the whole experience is shit because of it. Goldrush also has dumb lighting that just makes it harder to spot thing than it should be.
  4. McFarland Flak Cannon start at 150 credits start completely dominates Nod.
  5. Communication? (I have no idea why people go for the crutch communication thing in game, things happen naturally or they don't). If someone wants to be healed, they stand still, which also makes them more vulnerable. People are bad at a HECK of a lot of things right now, which has nothing to do with communication, just that they are clueless.
  6. Damn. I don't want vehicles to all start having dumb looking camouflage. I actually hate "camouflage". It looks awful. Besides, everything should remain yellow vs red, especially when it comes to vehicles.
  7. I don't know why some people insist on giving such options to further make every server feel like its not the one you want, splitting the community apart. Game needs standards, I'm already skipping all servers with a less-than 10 vehicle limit. I'm personally for having them never respawn, though that would also probably mean they need to have more health. Otherwise, a 3 minutes respawn time would probably be fine.
  8. Because Renegade X is where its at now? Why was every answer a dick answer for what was a very polite request?
  9. I noticed the class was quite terrible right now. If they're intent on keeping the minigun weapons (meaning the nod's laser chaingun as well) working closer like a minigun, they need to make alt-fire rotate the weapon without firing so we can keep it at the ready and shoot whenever we need to. Or just make it like before and remove the wind up completely, that would work too, it really is too big a weakness in a game like Renegade. Its at least important to recognize that the miniguns are too weak right now.
  10. Open beta is the "release" though, as far as the public is concerned. And that concerns me. I think it would have been better keeping this closed, the state of the beta might end up pushing many people away. But whats done is done.
  11. Dynamic boundaries is probably very difficult in levels that are so organic. It would probably be far easier to just make alternate versions that are completely separate. I'd totally love that, by the way, for Field in particular.
  12. NS2 isn't that at all. Nuclear Dawn is meh, and Savage 2 is quite different. Just taking Renegade and applying more C&C-like concepts is something I always dreamed of, but its an entirely different project than Renegade that would require a lot more resources. So not going to happen here. (this makes me think I just wish the horrible Planetside 2 was inspired by Renegade instead of.. well, everything else. A large scall MMO with base building and mixing Renegade into is actually something I'd find interesting)
  13. I feel like the 25 year FPS vet probably doesn't need advice on aiming haha. I definitely think the firefights just need a bit of tightening up, the animations feel a bit spazzy at times and could probably be smoothed out. I don't agree. He's totally clueless about aiming, even more clueless about the word "competitive" if he came here to ask for the movement speed to be lower. The entire thing screams non-sense anyway. Slowing down the game = more rewarding? Come on. And I don't want this modern FPS mentality touching Renegade. Its one of the biggest problem of modern FPS that everything dies to nothing and everything is slow.
  14. I think thats why the item called Motion Sensor (which was seen in some videos in the items menu) should actually be added. It really would help dealing with those stealth guys.
  15. I've really noticed that some building have downright retarded nuke spots, the likes that nobody can really figure out nevermind get to in 30 seconds, let alone disarm them. Doesn't help that people can just jump on ramps and avoid proximity mines very easily. The entire roof nuke is really the one stupid thing about all of this.
  16. I always saw the Carbine as an engineer/tech weapon. As a defense tech its really nice to have.
  17. Well I'll add something useful to the topic: -In 3rd person, the reloading sound is not played out UNLESS you switched to first person view with that weapon before. Its as if the sound wasn't loaded in 3rd person. (you'll also notice graphical glitches when switching into 1st person while reloading, but only the first time before switching weapons). I wasn't aware that sprinting instantly reloaded your weapon? I thought it was just an animation problem (the animation of reloading should not be overriden by sprinting in first person -> 3rd person animations are actually fine). The bypassing reload time you mention is actually just the "time to refire" being skipped by switching weapon, not the actual reload time. (that bug is very well known)
  18. I'm not sure how squads have been handled in other games, I really just avoid most FPS these days. Ideally, I always thought of some sort of system where people can easily join in in other people's ideas. For example, a separate interface, maybe an overhead map, with a squad-selection on the right. Someone could try and make a squad and say to the team "APC rush", people could easily join the squad and form a team as is. What I mean is just a way for squads to be formed around an objective. Squads could easily be temporary as well. There's lot of possibilities in terms of game features that can naturally enhance the teamwork of a team.
  19. I like Walls, I actually think people gravitate way too much toward Field, which is.. well, I'm sorry, I just think its such a terrible map, too perfectly split into a sad choke point of boredom and boring tunnel fights. Map aside, I thought of the same thing. Less voting, more rotation. It would be neat if the same maps had multiple "variants". Lots of possibilities there, don't need to have every map be just one setup. Could bring a lot of variety without having to create entirely new maps, which means a LOT less work.
  20. Would be nice to know, I prefer 64 players personally, I like it crowded and crazy. (and lakeside feels void of life)
  21. Yeah, the server browser in game is just, to be blunt, quite bad and should be avoided for now. You have to use the launcher to pick a server. You also have to rename the movies in the game's folder to make sure your sanity survives.
  22. I am against removing this. Its the only thing that makes me enjoy rushes and stuff, now I can actually look at it instead of "oh, boohoo, I died first second and can't see anything of this entire rush". At best a limit (say 30 seconds) after which you're forced to respawn, or ideally, a "spectating" mode when dead that allows you to watch teammates. Don't just outright remove it though, I'd be pissed.
  23. It felt instant to me, but the game almost always has "hit lag" so damage is actually recorded late, and that screws with the feeling.
