  1. You downloaded Black Dawn, which is not the same as Renegade X multiplayer (will be released Feb. 26) I don't know if it will support native 2560x1440, but you should choose 1920x1080 to keep the same aspect ratio and get rid of the black bars. And you should choose Fullscreen too.
  2. 180 is in many games as a default feature, I don't know why it should be taken out of Ren X, as it doesn't offer any exploits like free aim does. I know some gaming mouses have programmable buttons to do this too. Back to free aiming, is it even possible with the engine? If it's too much trouble to program it in, then we could avoid this whole argument.
  3. In the original Ren, if you picked up an enemy Auto rifle it would shoot their color. You would always want to use the one with yellow bullets (GDI) as it did more damage. Lore-wise, the GDI soldiers are supposed to do more damage since they're better trained. Balance-wise, one could argue that Nod's flamethrower was more effective against infantry than the GDI grenadier, so it makes sense to give GDI soldiers some extra power. Very few people even knew about the auto rifle difference and fewer complained. I'm fine with whatever the Ren X team chose. This is news to me, what was the damage multiplier for neck? And yes if you Ramjet a basic on the toe, it's still a OHKO.
  4. How do you guys still remember your Renegade names after 10+ years, I forgot mine already and the last time I played was 2007. But I still remember some other peoples', especially those who've killed me many times. I'm talking about you, jez636363. If you play Ren X I'm going to hunt you down.
  5. I don't like mods either, but there are so many server side options that nobody knows what the "pure" game mode is. 1. Starting credits 2. Endgame beacon 3. Donations 4. Crates (some servers only allow money crates) 5. Weapon spawns, random 6. Weapon or health drops upon death 7. Tank shells when destroyed and others I guess if these are the only things the servers modifies, it should still be considered a dedicated (ranked) server. My personal preference is: 1. 0 2. Yes 3. After 5 minutes 4. Money only 5. No 6. No 7. No Plus, you're worried about this because you're assuming the playerbase will be small. I'd say we wait and see.
  6. Looks like I was wrong. Here's what the FAQ says about free aim.
  7. Valor

    My Questions?

    1. Probably not as it would take a lot of work to make models for those extras. 2. Not at release, but vehicle shells could be added later on as a server side option. 3. It's very similar or identical to that of the original Ren. 4. Not at release, but possible later on.
  8. For most tanks yes it just stops you from shooting, but I remember from experience that if you position a flame tank close enough to a building, you'd shoot inside the building and do no damage. If this is indeed the problem, perhaps a simple solution would be to move the actual tip of the barrel closer to the tank, but visually, the length of the barrel stays the same.
  9. Yes, bring back the gimp suit Technician.
  10. I don't like a ranking system if it lets you get in-game advantages. However, I did like the recommendations system that some servers used. It's basically a ladder system that records your K/D and points earned, because lots of gamers care about that kind of stuff.

    System Req???

It kind of frightens me that you can't get 60 FPS with those specs. My specs are barely better, but I was able to play Black Dawn just fine.
  12. This is why I don't want gun drops, does this happen in RenX? Not yet, but it will be a server option later on. And yes there's so much abuse with weapon drops, like SBH with sniper/remote C4.
  13. 1. More damage, more HP, immune to Tiberium. 2. They can be used for early building rushes since they're cheap and the chem rifle does decent damage against the MCT. But it's a silly thing to do and rarely works. Also they can be used to harass the harvester without taking Tiberium damage. In general, I don't think any of the low-cost infantry are really worth using.
  14. Video I'm talking about: http://www.twitch.tv/thegunrun/b/496565080 Skip to 1:11:00 You hear the guy playing say "That was weird, it didn't register damage."
  15. From what I remember, it was always better to use mammy rockets when you were in close enough range because they did more damage and had bigger splash. It's going to be different in Ren X, but I don't know whether the overall DPS of the mammy will be higher in Ren X. Based on what I've read, you can use both cannons and rockets at the same time, so the total damage you dish out should be brutal for a close target.
  16. I'm all in favor of pointsfix, so that's good to know. I remember seeing the two buildings with one nuke in Volcano, but that map's actually not in Renegade X yet so I guess it doesn't matter. Now I have a question about what happens when a vehicle turret clips into an enemy: In one of the videos streamed by theGunrun, I saw a mammy vs. flame tank. The Flametank was directly up against the mammy, the mammy's turrets clipped into the flametank, and the mammy's shells didn't do any damage even though it was shooting directly at (or into) the flametank. I sort of remember this bug happening in the original Ren, but will this be fixed in Ren X? Sorry another question: Is it true that there is no splash damage through buildings? Example, if an arty is bombarding a building, the engis inside do not get hurt anymore?
  17. I believe when Renegade came out people were focused mainly on Counterstrike, so there was not much attention to begin with. Plus EA bought out and dissolved Westwood during this time so we didn't get much in terms of updates or fixes. Most of this was done by the community because they were able to recognize a truly great game. And Renegade was delayed twice I think, but I like to blame this on EA too. Anyone remember this video:
  18. For those of you who have never played Renegade before, here is a great beginner's guide written for the original Renegade. http://www.renegadewiki.com/index.php/B ... lay_Manual Renegade X Differences Pedestal Beacon is not in the game yet. GDI Sydney has been replaced. GDI Patch has a different name and weapon. Transport helicopter does have a weapon now (chaingun). The guide states that the Orca is better than the Apache (longer weapon range) and the GDI solder does more damage than the Nod soldier. This may be changed in Renegade X. Renegade X also adds some elements not present in the original game. Notably, you can buy new weapons for your infantry, and call in airstrikes. Some maps also have neutral tech buildings which can be captured by repairing the Master Control Terminal. These cannot be destroyed and give an advantage for the team that currently holds onto them (e.g. better radar, more credits, access to new weapons).
  19. Yeah, EA pretty much took a giant shit on the C&C franchise yet they're not gonna let TotemArts profit a little from it.
  20. All the vehicles and buildings in the game were from Tiberian Dawn. Renegade added many infantry and weapons to keep things interesting. Apparently Nod also had a SSM Launcher which was actually in Renegade but not the multiplayer. Nostalgia trip: http://cnc.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Tiberian_Dawn_icons Tiberian Dawn was actually intended to be a lot more futuristic than it actually was. http://cnc.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Tibe ... oncept_art
  21. Two questions: 1. Will you still be able destroy two buildings with one nuke/ion? 2. What is the limit on Remote C4s? Per team? Per person? On a side note, can you still put remote C4s on an ally and go suicide-bombing? Edit: Longer question but how have the point-scoring system changed? Do you still get tons of points by shooting tanks with a Ramjet?
  22. If a team gets bots added to it, do all players of the team get the ability to change the AI? I feel as though this could cause some issues with griefing and teammates not agreeing on the best way to use the bots.
  23. I agree, since we don't want one team to be stacked with whole bunch of clan people so they can proceed to "pubstomp" the other team. Again, my opinion is that having people join in pairs won't really make a difference, but more would cause an imbalance especially in smaller matchups.
  24. When I watched the stream, I was under the impression that this system was already in place because clan members like [H2O]Kill and [H2O]Whiskey were always put on the same team. I would really like to be able to play with friends. Having the option for two people to always get paired together would be great and wouldn't be terribly unbalanced.
  25. I remember the Recon Bike being in the Moon map (forgot exactly what it was called). The missiles only worked well for long-distance targets, and the bike itself was really glitchy. Still, nothing beats a vehicle that's twice as fast as humvee/buggy.
