  1. Whoops, you're right, my bad. I'm sorry I haven't played Renegade in a while and confused it with BF2 for a bit. Yeah I remember you get ejected now. Sorry  .
  2. I think my first FPS was... Goldeneye 64... Yeah.
  3. I'm guessing it's a stab at some n00b Renegade mapper who posted his shit on a forum back in the days . Either that or it's an impression of ACK in which case I applaud you...
  4. I never saw that feature in my time but I don't think I'd like to play on a server like that. What I remember from a typical game of Renegade is that everyone always stayed in their vehicle till the bitter end and died with it at all times because leaving it would be handing over free vehicles to the enemy if they are halfway smart. There was no 'getting the fuck out at the last second' like is the case in modern vehicle games like BF2 and such. It was a Renegade rule and breaking it would earn you an ear full from your team. While this problem may not exist with aircraft, because those crash and burn most of the time anyway, I do think that adding a mechanic that encourages bailing your vehicle is an insult to the old Renegade bible. Q: Will a new remixed version of the old menu music find it's way back into the game's menu/server listing?

  6. Interesting idea. At first I was gonna say it would give the pilot a few additional seconds to bail out but then I remembered that Renegade doesn't have any parachutes. . It could work, though needs to be tested very carefully so it's not exploited (jumping out at the exact right time not killing you). The explosion from hitting the ground should only affect the pilot (to avoid said exploiting) or bailing after destruction should be disabled all together (makes for a nice view of the crash ).
  7. QUOTE (dirtycopgangsta @ Mar 18 2009, 09:26 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Will the alternate versions of the chars even be available? I think I read somewhere they won't be in the initial version. Also this would unbalance the game since then there would be no reason to pick one over the other. Not to mention it wasn't like that in the original Renegade so it won't be like that here.
  8. Haha I used to do that all the time back in the old days when I had access to my clans IRC server which was connected to the Renegade server. You'd be able to read along with both side's team chat and I'd keep my friend informed of their actions through in game whispers. Hilarity ensued when GDI was heading out in their med tanks and Nod stood waiting at a choke point in 7 Stealth Tanks ready to blow em to hell and back. Ah good times. But yeah, let's not make that possible again in this game, as funny as it was.
  9. I've got a G7, wireless brother of the G5 and I never had a problem with it. It's as accurate as you make it and it comes with two battery's so there's always one in the charger for quick and easy switching. Since I've been using it for a while the life expectancy of those batterys has gone down a bit so I change batt about once a day now, but I can switch it in less then 5 seconds and I've even had it in the middle of a firefight which I then won somehow .
  10. Just saw Steam had a 40% off sale for UT3, so I figured I might as well buy it since I'll be needing for RGX anyway.
  11. Nah I just mean graphical banners and stuff so I can put a link to renegade-x.com on my website and other places .
  12. Hey guys, I was wondering if you have any promotional media people can use to promote this place? Like banners, graphics or logo PSD's? I looked around a bit but couldn't find any and I'd like to promote the site a bit on my own website.

Well Valve is generally very positive about their modding community. EA on the other hand, the money hungry bitches they are, won't allow anything unless they can make a buck off it. None the less it might not hurt to try and ask all parties involved. If Epic, EA and Valve all give the okay to promote the game (on Steam for example) and as long as no profit is made, there should, theoretically, be no problem. However lawyers in three piece suits have been known to prove me wrong in the past so don't take my word for this .

It makes me wonder what would happen if you offer the final product to EA though. Since it's based on the UT engine it's going to be a legal nightmare for them to even show interest in it of course, but it always bums me out how the modding community always does such awesome work for such extensive periods of time only to see the mod played for a while before it dies out relatively soon. I'm gonna be promoting the shit out of this game, promise.
  15. Isn't this a luxury problem, really? Don't forget that Renegade is from an era where developers weren't being bitched at for balance issues. I mean how many of us accepted sniping light vehicles as part of the game back then without even complaining? At least in the 5 years I've played Renegade back then I never heard anyone bitch about it ever, not that I recall anyway. These days everything in a game needs to be perfectly balanced so not to piss off the target audience. 10 to 20 patches a week are put into a game to fix so called balance issues which weren't even that big to begin with. The sniping of light vehicles is one of those typical Renegade things and, though maybe needs a little bit of tweaking, taking it out would ruin a signature piece of gameplay, IMO.
  16. Used to play on the KOSs server, until that went away for a bit then I changed to Jelly servers. Good times...
  17. As soon as this game goes into it's first public (or private, for which I'd happily apply) test phase I'm getting UT3. UT itself never really did much for me, not my kind of game play. However a lot of good mods are being done on the engine, and Renegade X alone is enough reason to get it. Heck I'd pay for Renegade X with the quality I've been seeing here. The amount of work being done here deserves to be paid on some degree.
