  1. The current EST time is 1:18 PM. Patch .40 will most likely be released within the next 12 hours from this posting of this post.
  2. QUOTE (der Papst @ Nov 14 2009, 06:02 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm with you on that one but it would be nice if both sides had to think instead of just one.
  3. w00t w00t I spy with my little eye! C&C_Vulcano!
  4. QUOTE (thrash300 @ Nov 14 2009, 03:20 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I know perfectly well how to camp but I try to avoid it whenever I can. Sometimes there is no other choice but to join people on the Hill and shoot rockets at buildings but overall I try other tactics as much as possible. It's a shame you can't hit buildings from the sides anymore (with med tank at least). That used to be my anti-hill camping tactic .
  5. QUOTE (Demigan @ Nov 13 2009, 12:03 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually you can hit the Obi, Ref and HON perfectly fine from the hill without having to worry about being shot. The MRLS's missile arc makes it possible to hit all of those buildings while staying out of range.
  6. Is it so strange that the development team is being let go after the franchise has been stopped? C&C4 is going to be the last game in the series so there is no real reason to keep that team around anymore (in sight of economical cutbacks, that team would actually be first on my list to kick out after the game is completed). Maxis surprises me, though, since The Sims games have been doing pretty good.
  7. Unless you're the one in the building repairing, right?
  8. QUOTE (R315r4z0r @ Nov 9 2009, 03:24 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It does the trick of keeping half the enemy team in their base, yes. Is it fun or entertaining for the other team? No. There is no more fun in repairing a building for 30 minutes than there is in shooting it from a hill. Winning Hourglass based on points is meaningless in my opinion. Could just as well be a tie. If by the end of the round all the buildings are still standing you've accomplished absolutely nothing, and that's exactly what happens 9 of 10 times. If the people camping on the hill would participate in organizing an actual tactical rush, it would be much more fun for both teams.
  9. I hate Hourglass for that single reason. It's a debate that has gone back and forth since the creation of Renegade and everyone has their own view on it but I think it sucks. Whoever holds the hill can deliver a constant barrage of damage without a quick way for the opposing team to stop it since you actually have to get up on the hill the even be able to see the enemy. 9 out of 10 Hourglass matches are won on points, I've seen it happen like that in Renegade and I see it happening again in Renegade X. However I don't think it should be fixed or anything. We're recreating Renegade so that also means we'll see it's flaws pop up.
  10. Congrats guys! Hopefully a sign of awards to come!
  11. QUOTE (Qbert @ Oct 27 2009, 02:12 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually a lot of the commercials do have a point in the sense that every Windows user knows what they're talking about. But the same could be said about Macs if Microsoft decided to point out every flaw a Mac has. It's just really childish advertising in my eyes but apparently that's the audience they want to target. Fact is that any advantage Macs had over PC's is now long gone. If you want to have a good video editing or photo editing rig you're always better off buying a PC, simply because you can so easily customize the hardware and the hardware is in fact cheaper.
  12. And how exactly would that work on maps that don't have a radar building? The native maps at least simply don't have them and never will have them, so that idea would create an unbalance between maps.
  13. Already possible but you have to assign a key to it in the menu.
  14. Yeah we could call it a donation for 'server costs'.

    Donations

Seriously guys, we know you can't turn a profit on this mod but the work you're doing is outstanding and I'm sure some of us really want to give something back besides our constant whining about things that need fixing. Where can we go if we want to donate a bit of cash or something else? Tell us!
  16. I doubt EA is going to be impressed with the maybe 100 or 200 people that will still be playing this game in 3 months time. From a business standpoint it's not interesting to create a completely new game for a community as small as the current Renegade community. Seriously, we're not that big. And the Renegade X community is even smaller. Something I do secretly hope for though, as the mod continues to grow, is that either EA or Epic start to take an interest in the game and maybe give it a form of support or at least publicity. It's possible, just look at Counterstrike, but the team would really have to work on this for a few more years.
  17. I'm not sure if having a VOIP ingame is going to be that good of an idea. Especially with teams sometimes ranging in the 20's or 30's on a good day, it would be like being on a 30 man teamspeak without anyone to control it.
  18. I love it!! Guess there isn't an easy way to get the annoying tip out of the loading screen?
  19. Isn't that why you have the 'Are you human?' question during the registration? Either that or install Captcha 2 instead of the unreadable junk you're using now.
  20. Only point of debate would be how sensitive the system would be.
  21. What I remember from Renegade mostly is that the teamwork came mostly natural. The entire fun thing about it was that there was no need for having a leader or discussing tactics before the game. You just played and went with the flow. You stay in groups, work together in fights and generally if you saw one person move out to attack a base you all went. The MOVE OUT command was particularly useful for that. Renegade is great as it is because it doesn't NEED leadership. In a good match the entire team can come together and act like one unit. Teamwork without communication like that is exclusive to Renegade and it still brings tears to my eyes whenever I see it happen.
  22. QUOTE (Coura @ Oct 3 2009, 08:03 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This is also true, though. Now I'm torn between two sides  . I guess an enemy only appearing on radar after he's been hit at least once is a better solution so stealth can remain as it is. How long should he stay on radar after having rehiddin, though?
  23. I'm sure they have their reasons. Most likely because they want to work out all the big bugs before introducing any new content.
  24. I agree with this a lot. I guess being closed off while the mod was in development had it's reasons but now that the mod is public the place for support should also be public. And that means not having to register to view a possible solution. It's very off-putting to potential players to say the least.
  25. Yeah I have to agree. The radar was kind of useless in Renegade and I see myself using it a lot more in Renegade X, especially in tunnel fights. It does change the gameplay a bit but the radar was originally intended for this.
