Evono
the title says it If you write something it fades in like 1,5 sec or 2sec.... even if its a Long text this way you cant help no one to understand the game ....
omega79
I agree and I feel like the kill messages and the chat shuld change position and now, clearly, a chatbox inside the PT would be sweet to just read something again
toolkiks
I agree it does fade too fast, but I wonder how many messages will be filling the screen if 60 players are in game. You can also hit the ~ key to bring up the message console. Try a quieter server, found one with 7 players yesterday, to have more chance to talk. I personally like the kill message location. Kills are more of a status, chat has always been upper left corner since the beginning of online gaming.
omega79
i remember a lot games where the chat is lower left or kill messages are upper right ... thats different in many games but a chatbox in the PT would be sweet ... or an optional chatbox that floats over the hud if you press a certain button ... maybe dragable i like the way it is in natural selection now ... if you press the chat button it opens a small box where also can ready the past chat if you play normal, the chat does fade in and out like it is in renegadex now so if you see something you just press the chat button if it fade too quick
[TmX]Sean
I agree with this, Increasing the time by 2 seconds would certainly be a good move. In the heat of battle those extra couple of seconds can mean a lot.
drastic
Agree. It seems chat can be hard to notice in this game. Renegade nailed it perfectly. Edited February 26, 2014 by Guest
lauri455
Absolutely agree. Also, chat only shows up like 3 or 4 lines of text. It should be 6 minimum. That said, you can always read the chat in the console.
Kushan
It would be nice if new chat messages also displayed the last couple of lines of chat history (Basically displays the whole chat "window" and then fades away). I've seen a few games do this and it makes it much easier to follow a conversation. 64 player servers shouldn't cause that much chat and the obvious answer is to just scroll the chat up faster if too many people are talking. toolkiks
Well, regardless of what other games do, Renegade was always upper left for chat. Early PC games always had them in upper left....Quake, UT. Either way, the messages still go away too fast.
Crab
Another suggestion related to the chat, I'd like the quiet bloop sound (or any other sound) that plays after a message is sent. Even with a longer chat time I think I would miss a few messages when I'm in an intense battle. An option to disable/enable this would be very welcomed too, for those that don't want it. Noodlesocks
Would also be nice if chat messages were separated from the radio feed. So many times I've tried to say something only to have it immediately pushed out of view by "building needs repaired" spam.
omega79
I am still for a small floating chatbox that open if you press the chat button
blackspy007
I think how it was in the original renegade was pretty effective. without a chat where we can see the messages its hard to formulate strategy within the team. How the previous suggested their be a seperate from the radio commands is a good idea as well.
