  1. Figured I'd create a topic for people to post problems with the new Islands soft boundary design as I feel quite a few will arise. Here is what I have found so far. Screen goes grey when atop the bunker in GDI Base. (same for when on the lower level)
  2. Would be a slightly more elegant way of doing it. Most of the time it wouldn't matter because you aren't switching from free infantry. Rest of the time, it would be an added nerf of not having a Bar or Ref (otherwise you could just purchase hotwire). Yes you're right, I completely forgot to mention that, once the Advanced infantry is gone it will be at it's most troublesome. We will see how it plays out I guess, I can definitely see it being a hindrance to situations I've encountered in the game.
  3. The refill system is a good idea. I wonder about the free infantry delay however. So you can no longer spawn, select a shotgunner, clear the room then instantly switch to engineer to defuse bombs? Could lose valuable repair time in a few other situations too like selecting the wrong class or noticing C4 after you have already selected a different free class. Could be killer when credits are low. My suggestion would be you can switch between the Free classes freely but you retain the same health until 8 seconds have passed and refill is available again.
  4. Kenz I am looking forward to seeing your helipad in action, can it be destroyed like the other buildings and does it require to be destroyed to win?
  5. Some of that does sound fun, Iron curtain sounds cool, Chronowarp would be way too OP. Sabotaging would annoy players and ruin the gameplay too much. However I would definitely like to see something powerful in the game which requires team donations, like perks as you've suggested and superior tanks.
  6. Yeah I really miss the cockpit view. I was upset to see it replaced with the gun view, would love it to return. It's not so great for gameplay, it just looks awesome. I would occasionally go into that view to entertain myself
  7. I personally am more up for an automated advanced assault vehicle to speed up games than the pedestal, a lot of people do want the pedestal to return however. I'm also a +1 for the engineer beacon defuse increase
  8. Good points raised there, I see what you mean about the balance shifting once GDI loses advanced infantry, the Barracks becomes way more vulnerable in comparison. I think an interesting thing to do would be to make it map specific. Islands would 100% work great, I can imagine some epic firefights going down in the barracks and GDI would be more encouraged to do the same. Volcano could work. Walls would favour GDI way too much. Mesa probably wouldn't work, I still much prefer the older layout, is that coming back? Glacier back in the day was a naughty one Having it in a construction yard sounds ideal, assuming each team has a very similar CY layout, the building sounds an alarm and lights up when the beacon is placed inside causing a mass panic. However definitely too much work for the devs to add to each map. So if an asset is built perhaps new maps could use it to contain the endgame pedestal that way. Again it does come back to more of a map specific mechanic really.
  9. Evidently. Regarding end game beacons however, GDI would have a much stronger advantage on flying maps due to new mine limits, ramps and Orcas which can repeatedly pound the pedestal with rockets from the exterior.
  10. It's possible the parachute kicked in as I was repeatedly pressing the button. I didn't see it however. Not sure if fall damage was taken, probably not considering the height
  11. I did notice the beacon pedestal is in the SDK but I don't know how to set it up. Would assume it's unbalanced anyway especially on flying maps as it's way easier for GDI to infiltrate the HON. One idea to make it more feasible would be to directly the message the team in danger that the end game beacon has been placed and to play an alarm sound. Some maps, like Islands, would work really well I think. Imagine that. But others would be a nuisance.
  12. Hahaha yes! Something like that in renegade would be wicked!
  13. No no, no new maps. I don't have the time unfortunately, I am only co-authoring hourglass. I've got an unfinished mod for L4D2 and a mobile phone game in development. Yeah adding more to maps makes them feel weird like the Field silo which always freaks me out. Most maps have got larger and been tweaked to cater for the new game mechanics and gameplay opportunities of X. You are aware there are more people that work on maps than you, correct ? Yes, I was responding to you
  14. Demigan you are exactly on point. My friend who is not much of a PC gamer gave this a go because he loves the idea of it, however he's the sort of guy where if he isn't achieving anything on the offensive he switches the game off. If there was some sort of additional objective for him which was easier and still rewarding he'd more than likely come back. He also requested 360 controller support Yes! I love the sound of a super assault vehicle, which slowly travels to the other teams base, Then unleashes hell. Maybe from a team purchase, everyone chucks money in, or again it could 'summoned' from capturing points around the map. Who remembers this game, Future Cop. You win by getting a tank into the other guys base. If you save up credits you can purchase a massive tank, which can win on it's own but works best when you escort it in and cover it with air units. Could work something similar into the C&C universe, I think this was done in Tiberium Wars: Kane's Wrath actually?

  16. Demigan makes a good point. I've been looking at implementing an additional capture point for Hourglass actually, if the tunnels are captured and secured for a certain amount of time it will briefly disable base defences for the opposing team. If it works well enough such a system could be added to more maps with defence structures. Under would be perfect to try something like that on, utilising the large bunker on the alternate infantry route. Not sure what the capture structure would be, some sort of uplink to disrupt enemy towers I guess
  17. Haha yes! Exactly that but with a 100ft drop, was great to watch. So it must be if you get knocked over causing ragdoll, which I wasn't sure was possible. Very cool though
  18. An odd experience so I wondered if anybody else has had this happen, unfortunately my Shadowplay was off due to compatibility of an old game I was playing in the week so I haven't been able to record it. Basically I was playing Eyes earlier, had an Orca, decided randomly to jump out of it and para-shoot, however my engineer played an animation which completely freaked me out as I didn't think it existed! He basically fell, took no fall damage and landed on his back. He then sat up slowly and grabbed onto his head as if he'd banged it on the floor and was knocked out. I was repeatedly pressing 'e' to jump back into the Orca which by this point had landed beside me but was unable to do anything until my character stood back up. Proper mad. Is this a thing?
  19. Firstly I will say that I love the addition of being able to purchase secondary weapons in X, whoever was the brains behind adding that menu I salute you. The carbine is perfect to sort out a Technician/Hottie, the pistol is good fun! Tiberium weapons, even better, it's always important to have a weapon to fall back on. Here's me though, I'm always one for a boomstick. The shotgunner is great but I've always wished there was a purchasable shotty in this as well. Obviously balance would need to apply and the biggest issue with the weapons menu is overpowering the SBH! Let's say only a sawed off/double barrel variety was available? It wouldn't really be any worse than a carbine and in my opinion would give players who aren't so great at aiming for the head more chance of getting a kill. An SBH with one of these will have the potential to make players jump out of their skin But the limited ammo would allow for a counter attack. You're defending as an engineer in a building, an infiltrator comes running in? Rather than throwing C4 all over the joint pull out the shotgun.
