  1. I recall when I was younger when GameSpy was a thing, I recall playing a Server on the Map Islands Don't know if it was a modified or not. But you use the chat to use commands to check list of props, move between the list of props so you could build around, was like a type of Sandbox mod, was pretty neat, does anyone know what's the server / mod / map i'm talking about?

    Thanks

Note: There was a user who said the following: "I remember a funserver here you could build things on that map.  I think it was from RenMatrix."

  2. @isupreme You do get a lot of people from PUGs playing on the Servers, usually who join the Discord's Voice Channels usually teamwork (if in the same team).

But, @DoctorB0NG @Xeon Wraith, would it be possible to do an Organised "Raid" on the public servers and attemptence of giving them a hand?

Would the players in the usual weekend PUG consider playing regular  games for a bit?

We need good players to help show the new players both how to play and also the FUN of good teamwork.

It seems like a Critical time right now to attract and educate a whole new batch of players ... which will Benefit the PUGs in the end.

  3. Windows 10 - Home (64Bit, latest version)
    Intel Core i7 7500U 2.70
    8GB RAM (DDR4 2133MHz SDRAM)
    NVIDIA GeForce 930MX  (2GB GDDR3 VRAM)
    HDD 2.5" SEAGATE (1 TB - SATA - 5400 RPM - ST1000LM048)
COMBO audio jack (some iTrust cheap headphones via combo jack)

Even playing with speakers (when not feel to play with the headphones), i don't recall ever getting the sound bug.

Note: I currently use 32Bit over 64Bit, due the 64Bit crashes for "Ran out of video memory" Even when checking on the background doesn't get the 2GBs...

Up until recently there were not many occasions where this failed.

There are a few things to take into consideration:

    1. Delivering the game to users is not cheap. There are quite a few different mirrors we use to deliver content to you, including a globally positioned CDN. CDNs are not cheap to use when you consider we are currently going through about 50+TB a month, and we don't make any money from the development of this game, so we are self funding this.
    2. Install speeds - there are numerous possibilities as to why installation may be slow, are you using a HDD? Is there other IO operations going on with the drive you are installing on?
    3. Recently windows has had updates which has caused UE3Redist to not install correctly, whereas before this was not a concern.
    4. The launcher is quite an old piece of software, which is currently in the process of being massively overhauled, which will help with improving the installation and downloading experience.

Sadly that's the true factor of this entire, project, any thing that requires any investment needs to come from the team. Relative to the problem I projected from my friend, nothing against the team or the launcher @Fffreak9999 Projecting the experience. And I know it's hard to maintain a lot of these things as a non-profit team.

And correct me something if I'm not Freak, did this flow of new people (unexpected) didn't help to the problems with the windows either, did it?

@MonoMolecularCutter Unlike totem arts, the company you're referring to, have a budge for the entire project, including this as the CDNs, (Content delivery networks).

Just have to say, I never felt so happy for the amount of players, the growth of the community!

For those who thank the developers for their job so far, this long journey, I thank you all as the community, together with them, how far we've all come.

  6. From my own experience that installing progress as the worse part, but that's because I've a lot of background stuff being used, that makes the HDD itself slow.

But from my best friend's experience, himself trying to install the game recently Download (even having a very pretty fast, downloading GTA 5 in 2 hours-ish) while this took around 4-5 and the invisible progress bar. That took another 5-6 hours, but it crashed, due to the lack of  UE3 Redistributable not being installed or failed to without a warning. After trying a second time, 1 hour-ish it got it installed.

Note: He always had problems (even in the past) Downloading and Installing the game. He was like but I went from 7MBs top to 0 In 10mins

But even in this state it kept downloading. And the Installation the same.

  7. As Gen said above, you can buy the "Command and Conquer: The Ultimate Collection" on Origin, comes with every game (Tiberian Dawn to C&C: 4, remastered not included). Using the "latest patch" a.k.a "Tiberian Technologies" and running the W3D Launcher.

    Links:

    Renegade Online Instructions [CnCNet]

    Tiberian Technologies [Tiberian Technologies Patch]

    W3D Hub Launcher [W3D Hub]

Note: On the CnCNet, you just have to scroll down a little.

After that you should be all ready to go, see youn in the battlefield @[email protected]!

  8. @SomeName we will await you to confirm any of the previously mention solutions.

@TheOlsenTwins Relative to your C:\ and D:\ Drives, you've your Windows on C:\ don't you? Indifferently you're installing on D:\ Temporary files are located on your windows temporary folders not on the driver's folders. Don't take this the wrong way nor on an offensive manner, but don't bash your lack of knowledge on a matter and say it ain't logical.

  9. Windows 10's default "administrator" running applications normally may lack some privileges, that's why you may run as administrator, usually the UAC (User Account Control) It's one of many reasons for a program to not install or run correctly. It's understandable that you don't feel on doing it. But until you do It, it may or not fix your problem. Do as @Cronus asked and check if you've the Windows Updates mention above.
