  1. It makes sense, for consistency purposes, to see these as tiers. But I personally think its less linear than that. True, there are roles that each "tier" fulfills, but I like how they can fulfill it in slightly different ways: rocket soldier has homing while gunner doesnt, deadeye has less bullet visibility than havoc. As it stands, I think it would be even better if each class had a main role, but also could fulfill a secondary utility feat. The less linear the better, as it would give more incentive to purchase cheaper classes
  2. Remember the good old days when you killed a SBH and they would emit a gruesome, synthesized death scream? Waaaaagagaggagaggh (is kinda what it sounded like for reference) They would fall to their knees then collapse having been executed for the treason that is "being invisible". I really miss that satisfying swan song of justice. If I had to choose between SBH visibility increase or their death throes, I would be hard pressed to come to a decision. Also, if my sound reference for their death scream is off, please correct me.
  3. I love it when it gets down to 1 building for each side. It gets really intense. I wish I had screenshots of this one match I had. It was islands and as we were about to destroy nod's last building with gunners they c4ed our BAR and took the game.. gaah. It was a fun base race though.
  4. @sarabi: this explanation is prett6 legit. I might open a discussion based solely on the fact that many people want to solo kill buildings instead of working together and what we can do to remedy that.
  5. You are absolutely right. I will commit this to memory.
  6. In my experience, flame tanks ARE a supplemental and situational pick. On most maps with open fields, a flame tank cant even do damage to another vehicle without sustaining 3-4 hits. And after that it becomes the martyr-mobile, who only destroys a tank at the cost of its own destruction. On the other hand, in organized play, flame tanks in force are incredibly lethal to anything they touch and are a real asset to NOD's arsenal. I think their damage factors are "okay" where they're at, but I agree that some aspects of the tank need to be reworked to make it fit into a specific role other than just "the mass" tank.
  7. @darkraptor: yeah I think silos were an excellent addition to the game and are great stepping stones to a better experience. Renegade has so much potential to be an amazing(er) game, it just needs some gameplay changes. @arc_trooper: thats an even better idea. It would give the spotlight to classes and vehicles that wouldnt get as much attention otherwise. It might even be funner, holding the line with officers and humvees.
  8. I agree. Voice chat would be pretty awesome. Until then, I recommend using the survey voting option and sending it team wide: CTRL > "N" Eg. "Flame rush meet behind hon" Its pretty effective in games ive played so far.
  9. I agree with OP as well. I have always felt that this game reaches little compromise in some areas. WF destroyed? NO VEHICLES REF destroyed? NO MONEY Base defenses up? NO INFANTRY ALLOWED THROUGH (with the exception or goldrush which is a map I thoroughly enjoy) The power plant reaches a compromise (aside from powering down defenses) on most maps because it INHIBITS not so much as CRIPPLES the team. Everyone likes an underdog game, but crippling a team then bullying them into a submission is not very fun. How about: BAR destroyed? Mobius, Havoc, Syndney, purchaseable weapons disabled. WF destroyed? Vehicle cap severely limited, no mammies REF destroyed? Credit gain substantially reduced annnnnd tiberium field forms around leaking reactor.. You get the gist.
  10. Interesting... some might argue that walls is really a NOD oriented map , given the prevalence of nuking. But I think if the GDI do a solid rush in with their vehicles early on, they can crush NOD defenses given the fact that the sbhs will be trying to skulk into the base.
  11. I was thinking the same thing the other day while playing. I think this would be a fun and interesting change once more of the heavy patching is out of the way!
  12. Seems to me Walls is now more popular than islands and field... and maybe City if we retro-compare. People love them walls. From the exciting infantry engagements to the tug-of-war sieges that often ensue, Walls_Flying is dominating the meta (at least on the servers I play). What do you guys think? Is Walls the new hot item for the beta, or do you feel another one is getting more attention? Why?
  13. @mussuy I disagree. Granted I feel the permanent "upgrades" added an interesting flavor, I do not think they should be re implemented. In my opinion, it comes down to investment/loss and risk/reward that merits involvement in the game. When I purchase a 1000 credit character I have made a big investment that could either result in a gratifying payoff or terrible defeat. My involvement in the game becomes much more intense as I am focused on making that 1000 credits worth it before I die. I feel much the same way when I purchase a weapon. I want that extra cash I dropped to enhance me uniquely and let my skill determine whether or not I can keep the investment.
  14. I'm only getting like 90 kb/s on direct downloads from all US mirrors. But my torrent is downloading at 800 kb/s
  15. @brotranq I see what you mean. This usually works on forums with a bit more traffic and diversity of opinion. My intention wasn't to change the game by any means but to see the popular opinion of our forum posters and its fluctuation. I'm going to leave it up for fun and see if it picks up later.
  16. @Devs, I was just wondering which program your art team prefers when creating models for this game? All of the models are very well done/textured/animated. Thanks
  17. FIX Flamethrower LEAVE Stealth Black Hand SBHs can be controversial to newer players but they really capture the essence of NOD on levels of style and gameplay.
  18. I'm not sure if I see the imbalance with having infinite charge on the repair tool. Personally I find engies to be fragile targets for just about everybody and they could probably do with the standard medic class regeneration. @Bro I completely endorse this message. I really think this should be added
  19. God almighty, you guys are making it hard for me to get my paper done. This looks simply beautiful
  20. I would like to play a game. The game is called “Fix It or Leave It”. (If you've ever trolled the Team Fortress 2 forums you may be familiar with it) How to Play: - When you reply to this post you can Fix AND Leave one Class/Vehicle/Item (CVI) - FIX will increase the CVI's point total by 1 - LEAVE will decrease the CVI's point total by 1 - All CVI's points start at 20 - Reducing the point total to 0 will remove the CVI from the pool counting it as a balanced. - Pushing the point total over 50 will remove the CVI from the pool counting it as a broken. - Note that CVI's will return to the pool if there has been a significant balance change. - You can also add a brief reason why you are either FIXing or LEAVing a CVI. If there is enough consensus I will add the reason to items that have been removed from the pool - You can only FIX and LEAVE once per day - You can't FIX or LEAVE the same CVI's on consecutive days Example Post: FIX Nod Artillery LEAVE Soldier "(Why I think so)" DUPLICATES: Many classes in Renegade have similar counterparts on the opposing faction (ie: NOD/GDI Officers). For this reason FIX or LEAVE will affect both units until one deviates significantly from the other in future patches. CVI's will be posted below Airstrike 21 Artillery 17 Flamethrower 22 Grenadier 19 Gunner 19 MacFarland 21 MRLS 21 Rocket Soldier 21 Stealth Black Hand 18 Tiberium Auto-Rifle 21
  21. My relationship with this game is pretty sad. Sometimes ill refresh the server list for 15 minutes until a spot opens up. Then Ill probably get a crash 30 minutes in. Rinse. Repeat. Im like that emotionally disturbed girlfriend stereotype: I keep coming back hoping that it will change because my love outweighs the pain.
  22. I only see about 3 or 4 servers up with a decent player count at any given time. Most of them are EU or RUS but what happened to the God-Fearing USA servers? Despite, the fact I live in Igloo, Alaska, the lag isnt that bad in these European serves...
  23. This had been a major qualm for me as well throughout the original game and I sadly see it has extended somewhat into X. I enjoy RenX because theres many more ways to stalemate, but all I can really do is avoid marathons.
