  1. I think the new scoreboard and HUD are absolutely stunning, visually speaking. We have a (way) more modern look now. I DIG the following: the vibrant colors new HQ veterancy icons harvester with "activity" label that also disappears when ref is dead that there's also some white/grey font for some other values, as to ease the eyes because all those colors can overwhelm me a bit the weapon wheel is so pretty! it makes a real nice rounded "corner" in my screen, beautiful.. I think this is my fav part; or maybe sec. fav after the color vibrancy Now on the other hand, I encounter the following usability issues with the new HUD: And that's about it for my feedback on this. These are all just my personal experience and opinion and that of others may differ. Just giving you my data point and thank you for all the effort that is being sunk into this.
  2. I've been looking through all these people's specs and most people did not include OS and the ones who did were at Windows 10. If I had known people on Windows 7 get it too, I might've done things differently. Thank you for being the bearer of bad news. It's not so bad when you bring it. And you are definately helping. And it doesn't mean we aren't on to something. I do believe the bug I'm reproducing is the same bug. And 50% of the difficulty of a bughunt is to reproduce and sort of isolate the thing. So we might just be "over the hill" here.
  3. Hello HIHIHI, I couldn't find your Windows version in your specs post. Also, when verifying the setting immediately after closing, are you 1000% positive that you set and verified the correct UDK.exe, that is the one in Win64 folder? I have been completely unable to suffer the soundbug when setting the compatibility option to Windows 8. I have tried everything to drive it crazy: aggressive alt-tabbing restart server and then shut it down so the client gets stuck midtravel change map while the maps are deleted, etc. The latter two usually all crash the audio with the pop; with a 80% certainty. Except for a normal healthy map change; there it's more like 5%, exactly like we know our sound bug. But with that compatibility setting set at Windows 8, in NO way I can get this bug to occur. Whatever I throw at it. When it does "stutter" for a bit because of an alt-tab or the sorts, the engine just picks up again and sound gently continues. Instead of blasting itself out with the boom. The difference is like night and day on my computer. So my hopes aren't completely destroyed yet, but your findings are definately scaring me. Please double-check if you've been setting the right binary in Win64. ... and if you're already playing on Windows 8 then we may be fooked because that OS *should*'ve been fully supported by Epic. As Windows 8 was released on october 26th, 2012. And UE4 was released on september 4th, 2014... Looking forward to hear from you, bracing myself for failure of possible solution #2.

    I'm out

@Nexus51325 People will judge you and your work whatever you do, son. You don't have to respect that. And it's not really for you either. "If someone offers you a gift and you decline to accept it, to whom then does it belong?" - Buddha "Gifts" here being their unreasonable and/or insensitive criticism and/or flat-out negative judgements. They can just stick it right up their ass. If you don't accept, then it's not yours. Byebye. I've had a very similar experience last year, but then with an "authority" figure. Got a big pile of horse shit projected onto me, despite my dearest efforts. I felt horrible. Deflated. Like my energy was getting sucked out of me. Had to move away from that too. So, sorry to see you step down. Praying that you will step back in again at some point, like I did. Work your way around these people, so that the rest of the community can still benefit from your talents. As you can see, the people in this thread are pretty much here to support and embrace you. Perhaps you have more fans than you realize(d). I personally liked Steppe. Haven't played it much yet, but the first impression was that I liked it. So there's that. Hope this message helps a bit. Thank you for your contributions. And take care.
  5. How about.... change the vote to "Rebuild bases". When this option is voted, from that point on every destroyed building gets its own (visibly present) 35 min. rebuild timer. In this way there is actually incentive to finish off the enemy a.s.a.p. when your team is progressing, other than just wanting to "get on with it". It is C&C-like, because the other player/AI always quickly rebuilt their base and you better moved on them HARD. In this way, it's NOT going to be this pathetic "we lost already, just finish it plz!!! come on!!!!!!" situation. .. all the while noone really c.b.a. to organize that last rush to actually do so. So no sitting back and torturing the enemy into boredom. Your team has to move in NOW. Because otherwise the new mission for the enemy would become: "Hold them off for another 15 and then we get HoN and Strip back and then we'll hit them hard since we have lots and lots of credits now." It brings back some more of the Real Time Strategy feels. And possibly brings even more intensity to Renegade-X. Way more. So I guess we'd also have to start including a nice construction yard on new maps then. ...But one thing at a time.
  6. I really dig these mixes from JimTV while doing my thing.
  7. Possible solution #2 Go check it out please. Also, if you're going to post your specs please also include your OS.
  8. Hey guys how you doing Happy new year I've managed to reproduce what seems like exàctly "the" sound bug, with a 90% frequency. It all looks like a problem with memory management, on Windows 10 specifically. As I have eradicated the sound bug in my reproduction setup by setting the x64 binary's compatibility mode to Windows Vista. Do this now please. UDK was never designed for Windows 10. It is officially unsupported. So as far as I can see, it pretty damn well looks like this could be our true fix. Today is my birthday, so this possible solution #2 is my treat to Renegade-X today. Hope it works!🙂
  9. Now that you mention it, those are valid viewpoints too. Hence why these are merely suggestions. I personally do like the loading screen. I think it's really cool to show. Yet I hate to have to wait through the startup movies so I still use -nomoviestartup. ^^
  10. I agree with this. And I also see the misunderstanding. What I ment was that the balancer is designed to attempt to compensate áfter any intentional stacking. So that the next player - the one without a preference - goes into the right team. People can still switch teams, and noone will be swapped whatsoever. It will allow you and anyone else to play with friends.
  11. Hmm thing with match-by-match (=snapshot), is that it's going to be balanced tóó perfectly. It's going to create an equal outcome continuously. It's going to try to ensure that all matches end up a tie. (=stalemate) I don't think we want that. I think we want to allow those natural fluctuations of players performing better or worse at different times.
  12. Thank you for your input! Exactly the opposite, actually. We won't need Steam ID's anymore. Can still use Steam, but it's not necessary for access control and RenStats. Yes that's why I called it Commander skill and not Team skill. I think the RenScore comes a little bit closer to Team skill. Yep! That's why it's only a small part of the equation. I didn't want to ignore it because I do think there's a difference between 5 and 3000 matches. True story. This is where the RenScore factor picks up. I think KDR is quite indicative of one's one-on-one combat skill, isn't it? I love what you write. It's good to have an extra set of eyes here and there. Thanks again! (Google Translate did just fine. )
  13. Guys guys guys.. You haven't seen the real documents that are actually security sensitive, yet. These designs are fully in agreement with the points you're both making about forum integration, server-administration and team balancing. That's the whole point of my gift. It's just that it's literally impossible for me to integrate with the forums working solo like this. Therefore Level A is a work in progress, and is up to you who you want to assign that to. I'm sure you understand. GUID-based server-administration should already pretty much work. And if not it'll be a breeze. The balancing formula is ment to be suggestive, and as a first start. We literally have a statistics expert here with us who studies Statistics 3 and has offered to be of help with that: @Tytonium The product I'm offering is the code behind all that. Reason I come as a surprise is because I'm confident that my work is good. And because human beings generally hate to miss out on all the goodies. I don't generally apply to companies or organizations. I show them what I can do, and they literally stop me from boring them with past histories, degrees etc. I just get right in. That's just my experience and ofcourse may not be the case here. NP. As you like. Consider me a contractor. Thank you, sir. I will forward these more sensitive documents to you now.
  14. Good comment. Fortunately, the most security-sensitive parts are in the backend systems and documentation which are not included on here. Any hacker worth their salt will have access to the SDK and will be able to find their way to these files in no-time. Also it seemed like a bad idea to barge in like that with only placeholders to show for it. Now that I've gotten your attention, the situation has changed and I have now taken the files offline.
  15. Interesting! Yes these are definately the kind of patterns we're looking for. Is this reproducible on-demand? Or is it more like a suspicious coincidence .... The two-birds-one-stone sounds like music to my ears, yet also like waaay too early to get our hopes up. This bug has been quite stubborn so far.
  16. As in the PDF. Columns being estimates, and projecting merely my own opinion. Hope this helps too. Have a great weekend. May Update Suggestions.pdf
  17. Dear Renegade-X, This new access control system offers GUID-based server moderation. This should make our admin's jobs easier, while making VPN-supported hacking somewhat more of a hassle. Tilting the time-energy investment ratio even further towards the hacker's side. It has been made with future scaling of our playerbase in mind. It also permanently eliminates the requirement of running Steam, to record statistics. The system offers two security levels: Level G: Allow all players (Default) Level A: Only allow players with a valid Renegade-X account IF security gets tough, we now have the means to seal the hatch. Meaning that in case of need, we become our own authority that hands out GUIDs. If things settle down again, we can also elect to reopen the hatch again. Without players losing their RenStats. It's all build-in, and easy to toggle. End-user Xperience of G: Nothing changes for our players. Just launch from the Launcher as usual. (Default) End-user Xperience of A: Players have to log in to their Renegade-X account on the Launcher once, before they can play. This system is a dependency for RenStats and Rx_TeamBalancer, and comes bundled with it. It also operates as a platform for a host of other new GUID-based opportunities. Due to the security-sensitive nature of this system I will not go further into details here. A thorough explanation of its architecture and integration options will be made available to #DEV. Thank you. D RS_AccessControl_v0.5.rar
  18. Differences of RenStats-powered balancing compared to snapshot post-match shuffling --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Effect 1: RenStats-powered balancing: Equalizes opportunity (=> fair play) Snapshot post-match shuffling: Equalizes outcome (=> stalemates) Effect 2: Snapshot shuffling algorithm: Newbies that perform exceptionally well this one match, are immediately put into the weaker team next match (=> punished) Pro's that start fooling around, are immediately put into the stronger team next match (=> comforted) RenStats-powered balancing: Newbies that perform exceptionally well this one match, are still put in a stronger team next match (=> rewarded) Pro's that are just fooling around, are a serious liability to their team as they are expected to perform as usual (=> stimulated) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Characteristics of RSpTB: - Works in realtime while players enter the server - Prevents unintentional team stacking - Helps after intentional team stacking - Balances opportunity instead of equalizing outcome - More rewarding for newbies - More stimulating for pro's - Configurable subfactors and balancer sensitivity - No forced hotswapping - Abuse-resistant Subfactors: General Experience, Teamplay, Renegade-X Skill, Commander Skill, Combat Skill Formula: see screenshot Come on in! Have a look at the machinery: Rx_TeamBalancer.uc, DefaultRenegadeX.ini Comes bundled with the RenStats server and the new Access Control system. Server code available to developers, on request. RenStats server URL available to trusted server admins. Yours truly - DugeHick p.s. Hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes here. I was told by a server admin that noone was currently working on balancing and I like to surprise people. RS_TeamBalancer_v0.9.rar
  19. You tell me this, while I've been working round the clock on X. *sob*
