  1. Is the thunderbolt device also connected to an ethernet cable, or are you only connected to a ethernet cable/wifi? Could you also try installing the following redistributables?
  2. So to start off with, I think for now we could probably get away using Lutris with my native launcher, I could probably make it find your Lutris installation and just make it change the configuration file before launching Lutris using the commandline (`lutris lutris:rungame/renegade-x`), So just to put some information that I found back when I was testing months ago: DXVK is for DirectX10 and above only, RenegadeX uses DirectX9, thus DXVK should not be explored or used. DotNet is also used in the game, my bet is it is for the baked in EULA. We might get around such a thing by setting some registry values. Most of the other requirements are also in the Lutris install script which I made back in the day, it has however been updated a few times after, sadly I can't see what changes have been made or by whom, I deem this rather unsafe and I would therefor preferably not use Lutris. Wine 4.13 shows promise as well since it now uses FAudio by default, which might prevent some audio issues now and in the future. Wayland by the way does work with RenegadeX unlike what it currently says on the wiki, I am fairly certain the mouse restrictions got removed/fixed in newer versions of gtk + wayland. However if you are on Ubuntu: due to Ubuntu's long update cycles it could be this still will not work for you as you might still be using an old version of gtk+wayland.
  3. It only allows admins to do so, thus trusting the admins it would never make the situation worse. Through the default team swap, players can only swap to a team with less players, or if somebody on the other team is also willing to swap, thus keeping the player amounts equal.
  4. If you let me know what commands you use to start your RenX installation I can probably cook up a temporary (native) launcher for you. Or is everybody currently only using the Lutris installation at the moment? I'd also like to form an alliance with the other Linux users to do some valid emulation testing. This would probably involve setting up a clean virtual machine with a certain , downloading RenegadeX once and putting it in a certain location within the virtual machine and then copying this clean virtual machine to test different configurations: Checking different linux distributions Checking which wine dependencies are required Installing different wine versions to check compatibility. Installing wine-libraries to see which are required and which are not. Checking the difference between using wine-mono and the dotnet wine-libraries. I hope we can get something along these lines going so that I can this one day incorporate this into a native linux launcher which will automatically manage all these variables for future linux users.
  5. Or for anybody reading this in the future, the launcher has a "Validate files" in the settings panel. This takes care of any corrupted files, if this fails and the game still doesn't start, the settings panel also contains a "Reset Game" option which also resets any configuration files that might be corrupted and prevent the game from running.
  6. 1. Unlikely as no new models have been created and some other more noticeable base-models could use improvement instead. 2. Walls is a pretty balanced map when it comes down to the sheer number of nod vs GDI wins as long as there are more than x amount of players in game (24 I think). 3. Unlikely, unless somebody in the team who can model really wants it to be a crate-vehicle and pretty much does all the work by himself. 4. Orca has received an upgrade in a recent patch and isn't bad at all anymore, apache is just really good against infantry while Orca is good against vehicles. 5. Bug-fixes, game-balance updates, map fixes, and other small updates. There is some big content coming such as the map City being in production. 6. No, Totem Arts will not do any work on any Tiberium Sun content.
  7. Does the game crash, if so can you provide the log file that is "/UDKGame/Logs/Launch.log"? If the game does not crash, what do you see? Do you use anything that affects your network, VPN, firewall, 3g modem, etc?
  8. I'll look into making a fresh Lutris install script soon, which addresses most of the issues mentioned above.
  9. Very nice, wasn't aware of D9VK yet, back when I set up Lutris. Also yeah the target dotnet should be about 4.5, as far as I know wine never had good support for 4.6 or 4.7, although by now this might have changed. Still we should aim to only install 4.5. Also yep, dotnet is incremental, which is horrible and also a source of the startup warnings we get when running the game on Wine. I'm not sure about error code 53, a quick google search does not show me any decent information about the error code. Also is that an error that the Launcher gives or an error RenX gives? I assume RenX, in that case i'd be more interested to see the last Log file produced by RenX.
  10. We are also currently working on a new launcher that will have an interface for setting up a (password protected) LAN server.
  11. It should only download the remaining 1% but it would show that 1% as 100%. Nearly no progress is likely lost.
  12. All-right, so this has been part of the Totem Arts internal discussion every now and then so far, discussing implementation, security, which systems it should plug into and what systems it should affect. Although what you have presented so far isn't far away from the idea we had so far, however what you present is still lacking in depth of thought. I don't really mind discussing security sensitive information over the forums, a good implementation can be open source and still be secure. However as Sarah said, when we do make official accounts it will likely be tied in with the forum accounts as that is the preference of multiple Totem Arts veterans. This of-course would then be tied in with team-balancing and server-administration. I looked at your team-balancing code just a moment ago, but again one thing that has been discussed in Totem Arts is team balancing and things like score, kill/death ratio, win/lose ratio are all insignificant and even deceiving. We have methods in mind for creating good team-balancing code however these thoughts need to be implemented in code at some point. There has been talk about using the veterancy system as a means to decide how well you play and thus for team-balancing. Although we all don't mind surprises, I would recommend you to discuss these things with me or other Totem Arts members before you might get dissapointed when your hard work doesn't get included in the game or not being used at all. That being said, your "May Update Suggestions" has some nice suggestions, the "Patcher is keeping 15GB's of backup data" will be fixed along with a new launcher being released. We should also have fixed the issue of more instances of RenegadeX showing up in the software center since Patch5375. I'll look into DefaultInput.ini and see if I can prevent it being overwritten in the future.
  13. I agree with this, to go even a step further: I think windows 10 doesn't even need the redist. I've been fine installing it and running it without it (using the new launcher I've been working on)
  14. This also an issue that occurs on servers, however in that case it shows them in the console instead of in-game.
  15. This can be achieved by navigating to your RenegadeX installation, then navigating to Binaries\Win64 and right clicking UDK.exe, selecting "Copy to Desktop (create shortcut)" In the (near) future, we will have a launcher update that will include a 64 bit option
  16. I want that Heretics Hunter 👀 BURN THE INFIDELS!
  17. It does Care to share what you have in mind? 😛
  18. Some of the stuff is coming, however if you got real excited about specific things mentioned in t he patch post let us know, we may consider them.
  19. No that's fine, it merely reminded me of another bug from a short while ago. Which could also see a landscape or black screen, in any case knowing that restarting helped, is a help on its own. For windows based computers I'd suggest restarting on a frequent basis no matter what, software tends to behave worse when you leave it on for a long time.
  20. Does the game simply crash, freeze or showing some images? Also could you provide us with the latest log file, this should be inside `UDKGame\Logs`.
  21. Does skirmish (single-player) work? If so, have you perhaps installed any software that could block or change your internet behavior in any way?
  22. Have you also tried the "Reset Game" option in the launcher?
  23. Create a folder at C:\Program Files (x86)\RenegadeX\Launcher and extract the files from the following download inside: https://renxdownloads.nyc3.cdn.digitaloceanspaces.com/launcher-3e4811a.zip
