  1. I don't get this post. Why do you want to remove the skill based gunplay (recoil which requires proper mouse control), keep the random gunplay (spread), and then not make use of something that's in the game and currently useless? How does spread have nothing to do with luck? Are you serious? Pick an auto rifle infantry and try to get 100 headshots on a target FROM the bottom of walls flying middle TO the top without letting go of your mouse button. Can you do it?
  2. So currently every automatic weapon has bullet spread unless you use the AIM DOWN SIGHTS function. This is terrible, as using AIM DOWN SIGHTS slows your movement speed drastically and it a TERRIBLE trade off in combat because you cannot toy with your opponent's aim well enough to prevent being tracked. Aim Down Sights in general just does not fit with this type of game and right now it's only hurting new players because it is incredibly bad to use it. I wish to see that bullet spread was completely removed from the game, because dying from luck or not getting a kill because of lack of luck is just frustrating to any competitive player. The main aspect of a shooting game, which is to shoot people, shouldn't be a gamble every time. Right now you can reset bullet spread by using re-fire techniques but nobody should have to do that just to prevent some luck/unluck. Here would be some of my ideas to solve this issue I have with the game: 1. Remove bullet spread from all weapons, including shotgun types (make the "spread" a set pattern). 2. Slightly increase recoil (weapon rise/fall) so players need to control their mouse more for good accuracies. What might be a more fun mechanic is to have recoil ACCELERATE over time as you hold the fire button (to a cap of course), so when you let go the recoil will DECELERATE but not completely reset right away. 3. Make AIM DOWN SIGHTS increase WEAPON RANGE. Right now many of the guns have a set range, and a good way to make AIM DOWN SIGHTS useful at all is to have it increase weapon/bullet range. This way a skilled automatic user can take some combat against some more sniper angles. 4. In the case of the marksman, make AIM DOWN SIGHTS change it's bullet from projectile to hitscan? Or a damage increase? Hmm... Otherwise I just love the fast paced Unreal Tournament type of combat in this game. I hope I get a response!
  3. I turn off all lighting and ambient options in every game I play. It still looks terrible. Such an ugly looking map. Mesa II is great aside from two things: The lightning is too loud and NOD can easily sneak into the GDI base by hugging the cliff. GDI should have a normal guard tower or something watching near the tib area like NOD has their turrets. I like complaining. It's fun. Complaining is a form of feedback.
  4. If Quake is so simple then how come it has maintained a professional tournament base for over 18 years? Quake's type of combat has an extremely high skill cap while your "realistic" shooters have a simple cap that can be achieved by anyone with decent mouse control and config settings. Bullet drop mechanics on long range rifles means nothing if your enemies are extremely slow. Try shooting someone in mid air with the STEAK GUN in Painkiller, which is arguably the fastest FPS in the world, now THAT is complex. If Quake is so simple then why don't you earn big bucks playing professional duel in cups and tournaments. Your ignorance makes me laugh, and you understand nothing about the basic fundamentals of first person shooter skill saying something like "accuracy modifiers are skill" when many of them are heavily based on RANDOM NUMBER GENERATION. Corner sniping, Strafe dodging (as you put A D dancing.. who even uses WASD anymore?), prediction, tracking, twitch, angles, z-axis aiming, juggling, are all part of most Arena FPS games. I'm saying this as a Tribes, UT, CS, COD, Quake, TF2, Painkiller, Serious Sam player. So why would you want this game based more on luck than skill? Also if you haven't noticed AIM DOWN SIGHTS actually stops all bullet spread in this game. It's still useless since spread can be reset from letting go of the fire button for a millisecond. Also if Quake is so boring then why does every game in its series STILL have a healthy player-base when most tactical FPS games aside from counter strike have essentially died.
  5. They need something because people can just use third party programs to add a proper crosshair or even some monitors can add one for you. Also... in the middle of the current crosshair it looks like someone erased the middle of it? Lol...
  6. It looks ugly. The base set ups don't even match C&C. GDI's base defense fucking sucks ass. Nod's obelisk is glitched at a certain path on the bridge. It takes all the sprint bar to reach one end of the map to another. You can't see shit in the ugly ass lighting. Nod can arty the GDI base but Nod's base is covered in mountains and a massive uphill slope. Lame.
  7. If you don't like complex combat mechanics then there are plenty of other (mediocre) games for you out there. Like Titanturd. Some of us actually like to USE our mouse to get a kill. I doubt you actually played Doom or Quake for more than an hour, so honestly you've never really "played" the games. Protip: getting good at Quake will make you amazing at every other shooter.
  8. Pretty good ideas. Solves some problems but not all. I endorse this.
  9. You just disregarded his entire and extremely well thought arguments and ideas just because you're incredibly stubborn? You're an ass hole dude. We gave you good reasons why points WORK in this game and why it is valid to win by points. The point system right now PROMOTES offense. And please don't talk about skill as if you know what it means. Skill isn't just about technical ability to do actions, it's also about strategy, and using points as a strategy for winning is perfectly acceptable in this game since it rewards actions (mostly) correct. Just because I hit 40% Lightning gun and 55% railgun in Quakelive means I'm a top level player? Haha, not even close.
  10. These responses are too large and just seem like arguing for the sake of arguing. First the argument is "Can't win against a camping team who are down on buildings but have more points" then it goes to "can't stop this team from point whoring because they have more resources". Which is it? I don't even understand what's going on anymore. For the arty on whiteout example you are RIGHT. This is a good way to win and a good way to get points. You're WINNING because you control the midfield against the enemy and they have not controlled it back. There's a reason why free infantry is worth almost no points its because they're meant to ZERG you so you stop. It's obvious you have the advantage in this game, and you worked to get it (3 buildings down). The points will show it. A few days ago I had an amazing game on islands in the eu matrix.com server or something. 20vs20 on islands. All buildings up all game. Nearly every player had a good understanding of the game with healing, dodging, aiming, mining, beacon defense, airstrikes, vehicle placement, flanking, all that jazz. The mid field pushes went back and forth maybe 11 times during the game. I played mendoza all game (bought him 11 times) and did a massive amount of work in the tunnels and midfield and got top score with 3.6k points. I wish I had this game recorded, but let me tell you brother it was incredible. Point is, the game was almost perfectly balanced but we ended up winning. Final scores in the game were around 32k each... but we had 200 more points in the end. We did slightly more work and we got the win. Once our team saw the time limit about to hit we all did what we could to get the point lead before the end. After that game I said "this is how this game is played, 40 people who aren't clueless with pushing going back and forward. I don't even know what's happening in this story anymore or why its even relevant. But the point is you CAN push back and forward to obtain more points. The best thing to do is ALWAYS try to kill a building if you can because that gives you a TACTICAL advantage. If you try to "point whore" a building then you may get pushed back to your base eventually and they can take out one of YOUR buildings, which would help secure them a road to victory. The point system is pretty good. All that needs to be fixed is points for beacon/c4 defusing. It should be % wise and not all the points to one person.
  11. Fuck this thread. Marathon is complete shit. Points are a valid way of winning because points = work done in this game. Everything that gives points is logical POSITIVE work. Damage dealing and healing. Point whoring is not a valid term because you can stop point whoring. It's another aspect of the game you must be aware of at all times while you're shooting, dodging, peeking, driving, healing, defending, attacking, controlling, etc. If you notice, the teams with the most points are the one's who are usually "winning" all game in terms of control. If you are playing 4 buildings vs 1 (or any situation where you have more buildings vs your opponents) and you lose from points its because your team didn't play as well throughout the rest of the game.
  12. They do have range, you can definitely hit someone from a certain distance and it'll do damage, which seems proportional to how far it was from them. Even burn damage will change according to that. I'd just have no idea how to put those range into numbers. The standard way is to do ((high) - (low)). High being closest non-direct damage and low being furthest non direct damage of course. DPS is irrelevant for splash. In-between damages are just assumed to be included.
  13. Gonna do splash damage ranges? Or do they even have range?
  14. Glitch beacon planting and tiberium weapons through games are ruining the game and the playerbase. If this new patch doesn't fix this, its all over. This game will die.
  15. It should be more like the Tribes series. Keys on the left side of your keyboard. VGS VGS VGS.
  16. was it me? I got 100+ 2x in a row in rencorner. gamesurge.net has the most insane hacks ive ever seen. No cooldown infinite ammo ramjet with aimbot.
  17. Guns that spread out over time can be worked around. After about 10 - 15 bullets stop shooting then start again really fast. It removes all the spread. I hope it atleast stays that way. This game is a skill based shooter, it should not have any spread on any gun even the shotgun should NOT be random.
  18. I think this technique should be removed, but they really need to make the PIC/rail fire at a faster rate if it is removed. Right now if quickswitching didn't exist, then infantry battles would be a complete gamble vs. skilled players. Also better crosshairs please.
  19. Ramjets are 100% accurate all the time, its just that the crosshairs for the PIC/Rail/Ramjets fucking suck hard. I just want an option to change all my crosshairs to a colored cross, is that so much to ask for?
  20. Troll thread. It's impossible to be a pro FPS gamer for nearly 25 years because Quake1 is only around 18 years old. I doubt you're Thresh from Doom as well. Hitting high accuracy in this game with automatics is much easier than hitting an LG in Quake3. If you're truly a "pro FPS gamer" then you wouldn't be having a hard time.
  21. Just upgrade your GPU. You'll get 100+ frames on medium or high with a 650ti or 750ti (or better). Get a 760 if you have the cash.
  22. I made a video about it here: For those of you who don't know, quickswitching is an old technique in many FPS games to by pass certain animations (like reloading in COD) and it works extremely well in this game. All you have to do is shoot a gun that has a long interval between firing, switch to another weapon after the shot is out, then switch back and you can fire again instantly. Basically it turns the most powerful guns in the game into rapid fire beams of death. I'm completely shocked the beta team didn't discover this. Or did they leave it in intentionally? Also when you quick switch too well, your arms will float around in third person mode. Anyways, enjoy.
  23. Hi, I play a ton of FPS games and I'm pretty good in a lot of them (QuakeLive, CS, Tribes Ascend, UT2k4, Painkiller) and these are things I'd like to see added to this game (nothing huge). 1. Crosshair options, I enjoy having a + sign as a crosshair for all my guns. I'd like to see more options for crosshairs. 2. More key binds available. I'd like to bind all the keys to my liking. Timed C4, Remote C4, mines, and Beacons are all not bind-able in the options menu. 3. Hide weapon option, to hide the weapon from your HUD/FOV. This isn't such a big deal since I play in third person most of the time anyways, but it'd be nice. 4. That's it. Seriously. Game is great.
  24. Issue has been solved. My buddies and I were joking around on what could be the cause and we laughed hard when one of us said "maybe your GPU is dusty". But then I started to think... could that be the case? I dusted my PC less than a month ago. However, I did not take the GPU out and dust the heatsink and the fan. So I did that this morning and wow, it worked. Apparently this GTX 570 going over 85 degrees Celsius counts as overheating so the workload was being transfered to my CPU instead. Framerates dropped considerably and I updated to my new BIOS files which for some reason gave me a 30% increased frame rate in all of my games. See you on the battlefield.
