  3. We are working on it, but there are problems left that we dont know yet how long it will take to solve. I said it is almost done and it is. But we dont know how long the last remaining things will take. Also depends on availability of people etc.
  4. We can change the stealh effect visibility based on map. That means on whiteout the effect itself is a bit more prominent. We could tweak this more though there might be the danger that SBH then get too easy to see for people that turn their graphics options all the way down (so that they are not blinded by bloom).

  10. We reverted that decission and never implemented it. We have other visibility modifiers to make them more visible in white maps.

  14. You are making some well thought out posts. glad you joined the forum. Personally i dont really am chilled enough atm with Beta 4 arround to think about new ideas in depth atm but i´ll definatly look up all your posts again later.
  15. To counter afk farmers I think a deactivate after like 20 secs might be good.

  17. Nice effort. Didnt fully disect the vid yet but i´ll promise you that your dedication to make this video will be worth it and will lead to changes that will hopefully still make it into B4. Of course we are aware of some of the issues but maybe not all and also forgot about some of them. But like for example i could make a long text trying to explain what the problem and the challenge is with trying to make the obelisk laser tip behave like in ren. But ill spare you and instead hope to find the time to find solutions for the remaining problems till B4 comes out.

  20. It is normal that it throws you to the main menu first. But then after a few seconds it should connect you to the server.
  21. Beta 1 was Beta 1. It was fresh and buggy. And it had some easy exploits that could be used for fast firing pic or like accessing the enemy PT. Those have been fixed. But there can always be hackers that use aimbots and togglebots etc. Why ? Cause we use the Unreal Engine. Simple as that. Like Cannuck said there are countless cheats for it that work on every Unreal Engine game and no AAA developer could ever stop all of them. So if you would expect us to make a breakthrough anti cheat system that stops all cheating for Unreal Engine then you must be naive. So this game, as many other games, is relying on server mods and admins to keep cheaters at bay. Im not sure if old Renegade had a replay system but Ren-X has. For example the TMX server records every game. When something suspicious happens they can rewatch it in the replay. Thats something atleast that certainly has helped and i can not stress its importance enough. Even players can start a demo with the "recorddemo" command. Everyone who cheats in Ren-X at any time risks beeing recorded in a replay and risks getting banned from the server and or globally. Everyone who gets caught and is reported to us will get a global ban. Right now banning is a bit tedious cause we can only ban on IP and IP Range. But if cheaters tend to really become a big proglem we can and will force Steam to be activated in order to play so bans can happen based on Steam-ID.
  22. To be fair: EA atleast started meeting with us and listened. But so far nobody we got directed to at EA was in the position to actually decide something. So even though there were talks the waiting game continues with us not knowing about the possibility of either Steam or Origin thus far.
  23. "team play is the game core design and anti-stomp anti-snowball mechanic" Simply speaking: If strangers play on pub servers there is no teamplay. Which is why there better be something else aswell. People like you who have played, like you stated, one game for a very long period of time obviously like it and got used to it. I am old enough to have whitnessed it on multiple iterations of franchises that people give the new game shit just cause it wasent like the old game. That happens pretty much every time and everywhere a new game comes out. For example a lot of players that didnt play old ren are complaining that it actually takes too long to kill in Ren-X. Cause in almost every modern game people die from like 2 shots. So whos right here ? Neither. As Ren never had that much players aswell and is very different in killtimes etc to other modern shooters making Ren-X just a copy of Ren would probably just be another path for Ren-X to death. ... however you look at it: its a complex situation. Just copying Ren or getting too far away from it, neither would be best. At the end what it comes down to is that the game needs to make fun. And im sure we have work left to do there. But as long as theres still people playing we probably wont give up trying. And dont forget that we are completly opening Ren-X to the modding community with Beta 4. There is nothing stopping the people that think we are on a totally wrong direction to steer Ren-X into another direction with modifications.
  24. No i dont mean faster firerate, i meant slower rate of fire. About a new role of like EMP etc ... we will see. We are thinking of options but its too early to say that we are really considering this or that. But its likely that we will try something out on closed beta.
