  1. well, yeah. still, i have absolutely no idea how many people are going to play this at one time. right now i think we should easily be able to get about 1000-2000 players at a time. as popular as this game is within communites which actually know about this game, i have so far met not one person who knew of this game who played C&C Renegade before. and i've asked about anyone i knew so far. so... get the word spreading guys!
  2. A neck shot inflicts 3 times the usual body damage. So it's basically 5-15-25 for the nod autorifle, and 7-21-35 for the GDI autorifle.
  3. You are completely missing my point for the second time. Are you even listening? 1. I have said that snipers have been rebalanced to make them less overpowered in Renegade X. Yet, these changes have absolutely nothing to do in free aim. What you're basically telling me is that i seemingly said that snipers NEED free aim to be useful, which is nonsense. 2. My post has almost nothing to do with sniping. What i did say is that i believe because of the tiny reticle snipers will have less of an advantage then they used to with free aim. Why? Because it's harder to keep track of a tiny dot on your screen. 3. Furthermore, again you are completely ignoring the fact that free aim is not only being used by snipers. They're used by technicians/hotwires so they can more safely repair vehicles, long-range firefights with automatic rifles, close-range firefights with automatic rifles, and whatnot. Trust me, with a steady hand i can turn circles around an enemy just as easy as i could without free aim. Free aim basically allows me to position my shots much more accurately, instead of the usual 'pay and spray' others would do without free aim. Please, just once, actually read carefully through this post before you start selling me more nonsense i have not even said.
  4. If you take the snipers out of Renegade the vehicle/unit balance will shift and tactics on every map would change (likely for the worse). It's clearly essential to Renegade balance/gameplay. If you take out free aim all you get is a few Renegade players complaining about how their crutch was taken away. It doesn't shift the balance in any shape or form, the only difference is that sniper vs sniper (or pic/rave) duels will be less wallhumping-based (and I guess snipers will take a little more damage from other infantry units in tunnel fights, which isn't a bad thing either since snipers obviously weren't meant to be the most powerful infantry vs infantry unit at long, medium AND close range). The improved map already makes it easier for players to be aware of their surroundings, just learn to aim like in every other game ffs...free aim is not even close to "essential". It's very funny how you COMPLETELY ignored the entire arguementation of my post and based you entire arguement on that small part. You're forgetting about: Also, Also... Regarding your post on free aim and snipers. Last but not least: By having said this, it's completely unfair to NOT add free aim because of the sole reason of snipers, which have already been rebalanced to make them less overpowered. Free aim is useful for waaaaay more situations then sniping only. I'm pretty sure you would have not said all of that if you actually used free aim for something else then shooting an enemy. This counts for everyone which discussed this, really.
  5. IMO. Renegade would not be the same thing without free aim. It simply is so useful for long-range 1v1's (not sniper), repairing tanks, covering your flanks, sniping and more. Yes, i completely agree that sniping was OP in Renegade, partly because of free aim, but it's really unfair to point all fingers to free aim as if it's the only problem to it. I believe with the current tiny reticle current snipers have this problem already is solved, but we really can't discuss a feature that's not even made yet. In order to confirm what we all said, we need experience, not from a 13 year old game, but from Renegade X, it's spiritual successor that has been completely remade offering differing gameplay. You guys are severely underestimating the usefulness of free-aim. Not as an annoyance because a sniper uses it, but as a universal tool. You have to remember that the tools a sniper use, someone else also can use to counter for it. Almost no situation in renegade was uncounterable, and that made the way for many epic combacks since renegade was made. If we complain about how overpowered it is, instead of thinking how you should bypass the problem and using it to your advantage, we're not giving free aim a fair chance in this game. Free aim is just as an essential part of renegade as snipers, i'm absolutely sure of it. I'm sure there have been at least as many people complaining that snipers are OP, but that hasn't been removed either. Instead you look for creative solutions and really make something better out of it. Something you should consider with free aim as well.
  6. i Always killed myself as an engineer so i could get a repair gun as a chem trooper and heal vehicles in the tiberium field where no-one else could come on hourglass, mesa and volcano. Always gave my team a nice advantage
  7. In all honesty, it was highly probable they would have closed themselves down. Or at the very least have to do some major restructuring. I mean I loved westwood, but at the time of their demise, they had released bad seller after bad seller after bad seller for a while. They needed a resource to make games... and they chose EA for that. But unfortunately, they squandered a lot of the money EA gave them which is ultimately why EA closed them down. The biggest, and final iirc, nail in the coffin was Westwood's MMO "Earth & Beyond." I heard that game cost EA millions of dollars to make and it flopped, to put it lightly. couldn't say it any better. Westwood took a bad decision by splitting up their employees to work on diffrent games. it only led to delayed, mediocre or cancelled games. if they all stuck to the same title i believe they could have easily survived to this day.
  8. actually, in TD, both GDI and Nod were capable of building the SSM-Launcher in multiplayer mode. this really is not a Nod unit in particular.
  9. Sadly no. Though we are allowed to share gameplay footage, we are not allowed to share any bugs or glitches with the outside world. It's hard to cut out bugs from a stream before someone sees it. ;P
  10. Go check his XFire and Steam nick below his name... He's definately a bot
  11. i don't like answering questions i'm not 100% sure about, because i don't want to give away faulty information. and if i don't know the answer to the question at all... well you've seen how i answered to that =Þ
  12. RenX is run on the UDK engine. to put it simple, yes so far, i actually have no idea. that could be a good question.
  13. Have a happy 2014 guys!
  14. it adds additional tactics and skill to the game, you can say. then again, you can also say if both tanks are easier to destroy, what's the diffrence? personally, i like this idea because you actually have to think more about how to drive your tank.
  15. you shouldn't worry about that just yet, it's still an idea, and is not part of the game yet.
  16. Cool! I'll go inform some buddies on C&C Renegade ASAP.
  17. 1. a new website is currently in progress, i'm sure that one will go up soon. 2. i don't really mind about that, but i would rather see the player explore the game more not knowing what's going to be changed, feeling nostalgia going 'ooooh yeah!' everytime they see one of those insignificant things changed and whatnot.
  18. To prevent lots of questions that are already asked, check viewtopic.php?f=13&t=70520 Boink will be there =D yeah, i was wondering if i shold answer it, but i wanted to keep some questions open for jam =Þ
  19. the core gameplay is the same, but lots of things have been tweaked and/or added in order to make this game an even more awesome one
  20. How will beta testing work after the release of the open beta? Will there still be closed beta's, will those be available to developers only, phase I, II, (III) testers or just to everyone? Or will the latest version be out as a public version?
  21. yay, Q&A's are coming back!
  22. heya there! i don't remember you but i would like to say welcome back!
  23. I think that most skilled players could manage to get a top spot on the leaderboard almost every game if they tried hard to do so. Pointwhoring is unbelievably easy in a marathon mode in today's Renegade in particular so, you're trying to tell me that i'm a pointwhore?
  24. Anyone who has played competitive Renegade will easily be able to back me up on this too. The only reason hotwires/technicians aren't "OP" in your mind is because you play a Renegade where most people don't know how to use them too effectively. I don't blame you for thinking like you do - but the truth of it all is that Renegade X will have a competitive side to it from the very start. It's important to provide balance where balance is needed. maybe i understood this wrong. do you mean that if you're by example buy a vehicle repair hotwire, it's mine/c4/nuke disarm power decreases, but the vehicle repair power stays the same as the original? it does not increase? i thought it's vehicle repair power would increase. or am i right here? please tell me. if it's vehicle repair power stays the same, i don't see any problem with this. although i don't see much diffrence in being 3 seconds faster when disarming mines. C4 on a building is something entirely diffrent though, allthough that puts you in a defensive position, which means you're only a couple of inches away from a purchase terminal. so... I want you to carefully re-read the proposed changes again please. This line leads me to strongly believe that you are not understanding the changes. don't get me wrong here. i was just making an addition to your post, not changing anything. this grenade launcher is more useful then you think. as the weapon description says in the campaign, it's a very useful weapon to be able to shoot in irregular positions. and i use it as a free character to scare a sakura away from a tunnel, throw c4 on the ceiling and then them dying 30 seconds later. it simply is a great distraction to get closer to your enemy. too bad it has a low range though. kinda funny how some weapons get used in such diffrent ways then they were supposed to... also, regarding the discussion about SBH's. there really isn't a point in discussing this. yes, they're powerful, but there are more then mines to stop them from mining the entrance. if you're really dedicated to catching a SBH, go fake afk next to a purchase terminal. this method is 100% failproof, provided they visit the right building and you're nolife enough to do it. no offence taken, i love constructive feedback i don't know who you would be in C&C Renegade. but i understand what you say. i've never played competetive, and it's hard to teamplay with some russians who don't know english, stanislav's or some random ego-maniac. but what i do know is that if i am motivated, i can guarantee myself a top position in the leaderboard. it may not seem so to you but i know much more about teamplay then you might think. it's not easy though, because of what i said above. too bad i'm so persistent in C4'ing enemy buildings with a hotwire though ñ_ñ
  25. That would make hotwires and technicians even more overpowered, as they would just buy the one that fits the right situation. And trust me, hotwires and technicians are not OP. their average life span is very short, and they're basically too important to nerf. I've played both APB and TSR for long enough to know that having no mobile repair unit is an absolute gamebreaker, as it's impossible to hold a position for a longer amount of time. please don't touch the repairing units, they work just fine as how they are right now. smoke grenade: i can see potential in this one. could work as a good measure or counter-measure to remove the sniper's sight in the tunnel and then bombard it with c4. or throw a few at a base entrance right before you rush with vehicles. in a open field, they seem quite useless to me. frag grenades: always handy, don't have much to say about that one sticky grenades: i would LOVE to see those getting thrown on a SBH by accident! but furthermore, they would make a great weapon to take out infantry taking cover behind a rock, tank or corner. tactical possibilities? definately. Tiberium grenades: IMO (idk how someone else would think about it, who knows) a horrible idea to use inside buildings. i would simply hate that person for being such a pussy player. just stay inside and fight like a man! EMP grenades: My least favourite horror from every game involving vehicles... they are overpowered. especially in a game like this. sabotaging a vehicle for so long is WAY overpowered, and again, i've played TSR for long enough to know that everyone hated the EMP mines they had. EMP grenades would be overpowered to a level of broken. Tactical insertion: I like this idea. i really do. i hate spawning inside the same building 5 times while being camped by snipers, or spawn at the furthest away Purchase Terminal from the base entrance. they're fun, but really, they're being used by too many noobs. what Ban4Life said covered about everything i have to say about it. Base defences, harvy walking, triggering mines at the right moment, stealing vehicles and then killing hotwires with it, they all make part of the awesome lives of SBH's. if they're being used properly. otherwise they're most likely the sole reason for your team losing the match. and about stealth tanks. they are amazing in matches like under, where the enemy has the field and you can get still inside the field, stay unnoticed, rush into their base alone, not firing, quickly repairing your stealth tank right next to the AGT and C4 the War factory in a 10 hour game, and destroy their remaining vehicles right before you die (or escape). the satisfaction from pulling this off alone is bigger then seeing your favourite soccer team become world champion. again, this takes months of expierience, skill and luck. and if you're not as good, you can always squash a pesky little havoc or hotwire, push the enemy mammoth tank into friendly fire and win the field. also makes you feel awesome.
