  1. There can be done a lot of adjustments. While BlackDawn was a single player demo, it was also 2 years ago. Not everything is working exactly the same as back in the days of BlackDawn. The devs have done a lot to improve the game.

    *How exactly does this dodge/roll ability work? Can you simply do it whenever you want?

    In the beta I remember that bunny hopping allowed you to move faster than just walking. Will this still be the case?

    Sydney replacement: McFarland

    It has a gun that can fire both grenades as shotgun-bullets.

    *How exactly does this dodge/roll ability work? Can you simply do it whenever you want?

    Roll ability in BlackDawn did work by pressing double-W /A /D. However as tester, I don't know or they will be use rolling/dodging in the final build.

    You can already run, jumping will cost you energy.

    *Is sprinting unlimited? How exactly does that work?

    You will have an energy "bar", each second you run or each jump will cost some energy. Energy will be slowly be refilled over time.

    Any new vehicles at all?

    No new vehicles so far, however they work a bit different/better as the original Renegade.

  3. If someone suddenly does buy a licence for the dev kit, and it somehow gets uploaded to the FTP as a gift. Then it might not be considered as donation.

    But making a game feeling native on a console require a lot of work and will limit the possibilities. Since you have to make sure every feature does work on both engines. Most games fail in making good ports that keep the game fun.

  4. Having no level system helps fighting the war versus the hackers. What is the point of cheating when it does not make you better. And additionally it is up to the moderators to keep their servers clean. Once they are banned they wil have a hard time to get back ingame.

  5. I do agree with Ban4life here. It might affect the gameplay too much and thus I'd go for the way RenAlert/A Path Beyond included Conyards. With a slow repair rate to all buildings.

    This is how it did work in renegade as well.

Even in C&C RTS games you can still repair when your CY is destroyed, and additional the way the maps of renegade are designed, there is not really place to hit and run. So your tank will not last for long without engineer.

  8. Wow it looks amazing! It is amazing what people can create when they put quality time into a project such as this. I know this was talked about before but i don't remember a final decision being made so i ask will renegade x be put on steam? or will EA not allow that? And maybe a PS4 version since it allows indie games? I'm very excited to play this game. Nice work! ohh and since you can not legally rechieve money for the game by selling it. can we start a kickstarter or gofundme?

    You could support the game by:

    1) Playing the game to keep it populated

    2) Donate to official/unofficial servers to keep their server running (for example multiplayerforums.com, so they can provide Renegade-X with a game-server or even more)

    3) Rent your own server(box) so people have more servers to play in.

    4) Tell others

    5) Map-making

    6) Be a great moderator on one of the available servers.

    Donations for "Gamedevelopment" are not allowed however EA has nothing to say about donations for renting a server-box. But Totem Arts is only developing the game so it will probably not legally possible to donate them somehow for their service.

  9. Ah yes, finally. Been lurking for a while now and its finally coming together. I'm extremely excited to see what you guys have put together as it looks absolutely fantastic!

    I just have one questions, and pardon me if its been answered elsewhere, but how is the project going to be maintained? I believe I read that the game is releasing for free and they are unable to acquire any sort of money due to legal reasons. Is their the ability to donate to the developers if we want or? Just looking for how I can support the developers and all their hard work!

    The development is probably not over once released. Anyway, the community is big enough to keep it up-to-date and running, even when the current team is not able to offer support anymore (however they are some damm good developers so we better hope it will never happen).

    You can support this project by keep playing it. If you feel needed to spend money on the game, then you always could consider to start your own Ren-x server.

I hope, for the games sake, you have an audio option to turn that kill boink noise off. some poor voice overs (the robots and regular psycho midgets) nearly ruined Borderlands 2, but there were plenty of awesome voice overs to make up for those two, it was very addictive. Killzone's kill confirm chime not having an audio option to turn it off is one reason why most won't play it. So please allow an option to turn that noise off. One of C&C's biggest fans.

    Another solution is to turn the sound down ;).

    Note: Just my opinion, still a lot of customization can be done in the option menu, so there might be a button somewhere that will help you with your issue.

  11. First regular question to a newbie: Have you ever played C&C Renegade online?

    The answer probably speaks for it, so here we explain again:

    In C&C Renegade you play one soldier in a Base to Base fight. Most games are just all about shooting, in Renegade you can choose to play it also this way but the most successful way to play renegade is by working together. Your main objective is to destroy the enemy base, every structure you destroy, will give the enemy an disadvantage. If the timer of the map hits zero and there are still no bases destroyed, then the team with the highest score wins. Kill-hunting does not give a lot of credits. Attacking the enemy base does. So you still could get 30 kills and end up as worst player of the team. There are times you have to plan a rush of a specific kind of tanks, and sometimes you need to create distractions. The team with the greatest plans and team-play mostly wins. So it is not just another dumb shooter. It is about: Strategy, planning, map-knowledge, weakness-and-strength knowledge, skills, team-play, sacrifice, and yes some will play it as a regular shooter. There are situations where renegade could be a real mind game. Even while it is not a RTS. Probably one of the only FPS games around where your guns could be weaker as the mind.

  12. A level-system might could be a serverside addon. But it would be bad to have one level by default on every server.

    In a good game, there should not be an advantage on characters and power between a Pro and a newbie. The only difference there can be is the difference of knowledge and skills. Only if you work without a level-system, you can keep the fight fair.

    A small weapon-upgrade will make it a bit harder to know what to expect, however think a bit smart and you still know it. Is your enemy rich, then they probably will have some advanced weapons, else they stick to the free ones. I think this is a good development since only having a PP+REF often cases rage-quiting. When there is nothing to buy except fake beacons, then there is no fun, having access to at least some small upgrades will give these hopeless losers some hope.

  13. I don't think the opinion of the players was the mainreason to shutdown the project. EA-Games hasn't cared about the C&C community ever. So why should they now? They still want to make games for the big public (that's why they made CNC4), these oldschool gamers like us do not sound interesting for them anyway.

    Lets be honest we have a community that always has been split up, a part of us does like Tiberium, another part does like red alert and another part does enjoy Generals a bit more. Unfortunately they could make the same and getting complaints about being not unique enough, or making something different and get complains about being to much non-CNC. After all these cancelled games they made for CNC, there is still not one great remake of some good titles like Renegade/Red alert/Tib sun/CNC1/Generals in 10 years time. While with this new engine and the Renegade style merged they could have gotten a great success. Also Generals should have worked, just 2/3 of the community did not like Generals and F2P and RTS hasn't been done that awesome since ever.

    The good news is that Renegade-X could give the cnc community a new home as being the main/most important and supported and updated game of CNC. Community will take CNC back to themself, it are the modders of CNC that made the best stuff anyway.

    just finished renegade singleplayer on hard again a few days ago. So i checked out this site again.

    I was waiting (with others) for RenegadeX to be released as stand-alone game since this website exists.

    Now i think you screwed it.

    A lot of people wanted this multiplayergame and you got a lot of awards, but this happened years ago.

    It really is a shame that you were not able to release this finished multiplayergame as stand alone in an adequate timespan.

    Even if you will release it in a few months 98% of the former interested players will not recognize or play it, but i think you will never release the stand alone version.

    The mod itself was a very good idea, but even the release of this very poor singleplayer was no good comercial for you.

    Anyway, Thanks for all the hard work!

    Bad dude, dont speak like your opinion is the opinion of the world... maybe... you are that one dude that is not made for this game ;) .

  15. We are living in an pretty long week, since the next weekly youtube updates are still waiting for the next week. Just to be interested, is JAM still alive? He seems to have been changed from very active, to be very inactive part of the team. Just some useless updates that prove the project is still alive, could never be worse.

    Still we cant complain, they are doing this all without profit, or atleast without making big money with the project. This does not give uss the right to complain or have oppinions about the team. But advise is still allowed isnt it?
