  1. When your refinery are down, your power plant nearly dead, chances that your team is win this is very very low.

    Is there a way from that deep situation?

    PS About refinery and power plant it's just examples, any destroyed building is VERY big threat right now, all games when enemy, or my team start to lose at least one bulding, they or we are toast.

    Here a checklist:

    1) Repairing buildings gives a lot of credits and you make yourself useful for the team.

    2) Repairing tanks gives credits and you make yourself useful for the team.

    3) Killing high-tier infantry gives some credits, you probably cannot kill them when you alone-wolf, but together with 2-3 soldiers you easily kill them.

    4) Damaging enemy tanks, damaging tanks gives some credits, while anti-tank does work well, I prefer using c4 timed and c4 remotes to damage tanks, more effective but requires a bit more skills.

    5) Damaging enemy structures will keep the cash flow going.

    best way to do this is by buying a rocket soldier and find a nice location to hit a "tower" or a high part of a building without they can hit you easily. You just keep shooting on their structures, refill, and hits them again, till you got a lot of credits.

    Free characters could also be used to damage structures, while the enemy will be more offensive once they destroy a structure, they will (mostly) not guard well , so you could more easy infiltrate their base (once you are past their front-line). Be aware of mines!

    Play with free characters advise:

    -If a building needs repair and you have a free character, don't be an asshole but swap from character (to repair structures).

    -Use the marksmen to take down air-crafts

    -Use grenade launcher or flame thrower for tanks you cannot get to easily.

    -Use c4 timed to kill tanks, mostly they will roadkill you, but keep in mind Renegade-x is not about the k/d ratio, it is about using teamplay to WIN the match.

    -Guarding tunnels is pretty easy if you take the shotgun character and you camp around the corner.

  2. There is just no way to counter the enemy from spamming nukes everywhere when they can infiltrate so easily with ex. blackhands.

    It happens every game, and playing as GDI you basically lose a building or 2 in the beginning because of nuke spam with this combo.

    The real problem is the amount of new players, there are tactics to counter sbh's but they require more teamplay and more map knowledge.

    It could be 2 things.

    1- software

    32-Bit windows can only use up to 3.25 GB RAM, it is currently pretty hard to play renegade-x with a 32-bit machine. Try upgrading to a 64-bit machine, but first check or your system does support 64-bit (mostly they do).

    2-hardware

    It could be that you have to less RAM or to less memory on your graphical card. You could try to play it on ultra-low with the lowest screen resolution, this could help a bit on low-end computers.

    Please give us more system information if you want to be sure.

  4. This game needs white-hat hackers... hackers with the morality to report a backdoor.

    Instead of complaining people can help the developers by explaining as detailed as they can, how, what, where and when these "hacks" occur. It always will be a cat and mouse game (DEV-Game), you cannot fix a game-leak before it has been exploited by someone, simply since you (and nobody) cannot be aware of everything.

    The only weird (and aggrivating) beacon placements I've seen have been on Gold Rush. But every time we find it, theres an SBH who tries to defend it. Not extra speed or anything.

    I must have been lucky so far today though because I just finished a marathon of Ren-X and didn't encounter anyone I thought was cheating...

    You have to learn the maps, especially in Goldrush, where you can get to nearly any structure on the map without being hit by a guardtower. You have to learn the roads to get in enemy base. Once you understand how defenses respond, you can get on a lot of places you otherwise could not get. Sorry this is not a hack, this is a knowledge-gap. Still good to report it if you are not sure...

  5. The game had some "starting lagg" that made it act a bit less smooth for like 1-2 secs once you joined. But I don't have that problem anymore so it probably is already fixed ;).

    About 1 á 2 days ago they released another test-build that made the game even more smooth as it was before. 3th person view is still better in my opinion, but its up to the player to choose the style that gives him the most advantage.

  6. Is this official? Does it have anything to do with the leaderboards tab that appeared on the Ren X homepage recently?

    The leaderboards were already in the serverlist app of renegade-x. I guess the leaderboards on the site will be the same as the one in this renegade-x-serverlist app.

  7. Well, I think important menus being centered is a better option and because we have 5 icons now I put refill in the center.

    Why is it a better option to have important menus in the center?

    Actually, now that I think of it grouping characters and vehicles, weapons and super weapons together would make more sense.

    Disagree, the weapons and items (the category where super weapons are in) have to be in a different menu, since weapons replace the pistol slot and items have their own slot.

  8. Uhm not to start a discussion, but might to consider: As user of the server-list, I guess it might be better to have a banner showed instead of a webpage, but I might played to much Battlefield.

    This is not an attack on your serverlist, since the current one does rock. Please consider it as an advise from a noob.

    For as I know, there won't be a V-button (free-aim) in Renegade-X with the release. However I haven't seen any post regarding to this subject in which stated that the dev-team is going to add the V-button soon or give it any importance. We have all played C&C Renegade and I would be a pain in the ass to play the game without a v-button. I am not a game developer and I appreciate all the efforts made for this game. I do hope that the V-button will be implemented soon because otherwise many gamers might actually stop playing the game after some days / hours after the release, which would be a shame!

    Hopefully someone of the dev-team can reassure me that it is on the shortlist for development, otherwise I predict a short future :(.

    Knock, knock, 21th century here. Its not Renegade, the game is supposed to be work a bit different, get used to it, since the old times of Renegade will never be the same, NEVER.

    I don't think stuff needs to be added, just because they are "effective". They should add the OB-gun since it was "effective" and useful.

  10. I am a beta tester since the game was far from done. But today the day it is pretty much done (off-course balance and stuff like that is still to be done). So there is really a good quality game in development. C&C and its universes belong to EA, they are not allowed to make any profit out of it. Being a C&C fan is one of the things that motivates most C&C modders and I guess it probably will also count for most of the developers of this game. Still they will get their WIN part. That part starts on 26 februari.

    Once they launch such a game, they will have a great portfolio to get a job anywhere. Another great opportunity they have, is to build a 100% own gerne/game with the Totem Arts team. They can do great stuff with all the UDK knowledge they have gain in the last 7 years, also the popularity of Renegade-X would work great if you want to distribute your own game with its own story. Building a community is the hard part for new publishers, No community = less or no sales/downloads. Offering something as a free fan project is a great way to get started to build a community.

  11. *First of all, EA would probably not have interest in an UDK project. Don't get me wrong, the UDK is free, but only as long as the game is free. EA would prefer to have developers investing time in their own engine, not a third party.

    *The Renegade formula failed once. Management of EA does not like risking another failure. With the CNC4 and the Generals2 failure still fresh in our mind, they will not try anything stupid soon.

    *Its free, that is why it attracts people, and off course the old diehards will join it, but these few 100-100.000 players are not the big money at all for them. They sell millions of copy-paste games like Battlefield.

    However EA has a reputation to buy studios to destroy them. And I cannot disagree with the developers if they would be fine with making a million dollar deal. But hey, its EA, the last 10 year they had no interest in C&C, only money, so why should they be interested in it now?

    The reason GDI loses on most Walls public games is because of SBH nukes or 3 SBH timed c4 rushes. How do you defend against it? Even with perfect mining and constant camping, one can still get in. You also failed to address how easy it is for them to steal enemy vehicles as is as well.

    Also I like to mention you how badly people suck in teamplay these days, that's mostly the reason of a GDI failure on Walls. Talking about how much people suck, on a good match NOD should not be able to steal any vehicle. It is just these people on GDI who think they can repair their tank anywhere on the field. That´s why I consider an empty tank more as an opportunity then a tactic. Waste of time if your enemy is to good. NOD´s biggest failure is that they have a team of SBH all camping around GDI structures and tanks. While GDI can farm them. Sometimes the SBH is even the worst thing that could happen to NOD, you can´t even plan a simple stank rush with all these SBH camping weapon-drops and awaiting GDI tanks.

    Still everybody has his way to play and this is just my point of view, but talking about experience on Renegade is not 100% legit if you are talking about Renegade-X. Still experience on Renegade is worth something, but that is more on the tactics part, on the other parts you have to forget everything and get used to the remade units/weapons/tanks/aircraft (even while not changed that much, still it changed a lot for the better players around) and the (a bit) different maps. Time will learn, you might be even right. But it is to early to scream around with the small amount of details you got about the game.

    If somebody has the money to buy a character that is far more expensive than another character, then shouldn't that character's output match how much cost it took to purchase? I agree that the overall usefulness of characters that were not 1000 level characters was too low comparatively for how much the 1000 level characters were able to do. At the same time though, a 400 level character shouldn't be more effective at doing what the 1000 level character's specialty is. It should be relatively 40% as strong when all is said and done. The SBH's stealth ability is an ability that is worth more than the $400 it costs for that character.

    A 1000$ sniper is supposed to be better as a 500$ one. However that said, it is a sniper. While some did consider it as a sniper+shotgun combo in original renegade, it will be hard to use a sniper in close combat in Renegade-x. Especially that part has been changed (so far). On each situation another character will be more effective.

    SBH could and should be able to counter a 1000$ sniper, a sniper should not be standing uncovered ;). but the SBH does not have a perfect aim anymore (in the current beta build), so good luck with your sniper-kill. Sure they can nuke your base, but only if your team can't protect his base well. Sure they can C4 structures, but didn't we had mines? The GDI 400$ unit is pefect to (score)whore or destroy structures in big groups, just shoot from a save distance on the enemy base. While NOD does not have a unit like the gunner, they have a rocket launcher but that unit does shoot a bit slow, and it has another purpose in Ren-X. Each team has his own advantages.

    And still SBH's and snipers are more popular by some players. One difference of Ren and Ren-X is that in Renegade, everybody was buying 1000 credit characters or hotwires/tech/SBH. But in Ren-X the other characters are also effective on their own way, you just have to find out when to use which character. The main goal of a hotwire is to provide defense and support. They never will be the character to push back these awesome tunnel defending and field defending characters of Ren-X. The chem. sprayer, 225 credit rocket launcher, McFarland and the new patch are really useful in some situations. C4 will not be the solution to every situation (but still powerful if used the right way), not anymore... or at-least that is what I can say after some testing.

  16. I think this more comes down to opinion. When I saw the new Raveshaw model my first thought was "Himmler-inspired?".

    Hmm, I wouldn't say that was 100% true. The new Raveshaw's face does look a lot more youthful that it really should be. If there more more facial lines/wrinkles, more scars and the shape of the face was reworked a bit, it'd look fine imo. It just doesn't look as if care and attention has been paid when trying to replicate Raveshaw's face.

    There's still the problem of that Tiberium Wars Nod logo too.

    Also I've just noticed, his ears are comically large.

    The Raveshaw does look more like an evil smart and wise general in that suit. I really like it ;)

    Mendoza does look like someone you don't want to meet in an interrogation. While the one you are considering does look more like the chief of SCHIELD (Avengers) style which is more the "Good guy pirate".

    The logo could be an issue for these die-hard-C&C-fans, I have to agree on that point ;).

  17. You cannot use the win/lose of Renegade on Ren-X maps. As you said, they are remakes, not 100% copy paste. Even in February, it probably will still be a WIP project. So probably some stuff would need to be reconsidered, but the most of these balancing is being worked on with these weekly testing-sessions.

    Theoretically: NOD is known as a more DPS faction while GDI can be considered as the tanker faction (talking in MMORPG terms). With these airstrikes, it will be pretty hard for nod to hold a line for long period of time, they will probably (note: testing and balancing is still going on) rely more on their strike and surprise element, instead of being the nearly undestructable wall. While GDI with heavy armored mammoths could survive an airstrike with some luck (or maybe even easy, depends on the situation). However this is just theoretical, and I don't know how effective these airstrikes and the weapons and tanks will be in the final release, and there is more going on on a battlefield so the success of a team could rely on more as just whoring or fighting a whore.

    Giving feedback on balance and bugs is what we do as testers do. And that is what we will keep doing till the final release, while the game in its current phase is not 100% perfectly balanced (but pretty well balanced so far), it still gives a fair fight in its current state. On all test-matches both teams had their success.
