HuggyBear
Hi, I am going to buy a new laptop soon, and would love to play this game on it; is it possible and what kind of specs should I look for in a laptop to be able to run pretty smoothly? Anybody here have a laptop that runs this game? If so, please let me know your specs so I can keep them in mind when shopping for a laptop. Thanks! Ap2000
"Laptop" can be anything from a worthless piece of crap to an overpriced mediocre system. "Smoothly" is also highly subjective. And of course everything depends on the resolution you want to play in. Here are the general recommended specs: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=74837&p=146235&hilit=recommended#p146235
HuggyBear
Thanks. I am sure that there are people here who are able to successfully run this game and have a pleasant gaming experience. Could you let me know your specs so I can consider them. Thanks again.
Totem Arts Staff kenz3001 Posted November 3, 2015 Totem Arts Staff Share Posted November 3, 2015 out dated UDK specs Minimum PC Requirements for Users Windows XP SP3 (32-bit only) 2.0+ GHz processor 2 GB system RAM A graphics card with shader model 3.0 support. Minimum PC Hardware Requirements for Developers Windows XP SP3 (32-bit only) with DirectX 9.0c 2GHz or better CPU 2+ GB RAM A graphics card with Shader Model 3.0 support, such as nVidia GeForce 7800 NOTE: Windows 7 64bit is currently the mainstream development environment. Recommended PC Hardware Specs for Developers Windows 7 64-bit 2.0+ GHz multi-core processor 8 GB System RAM NVIDIA 8000 series or higher graphics card Plenty of HDD space i would say any thing higher then to the recommended dev specs ... best bet is do your research on "gaming laptops" there are some good ones out there now but a desktop will always be cheaper any multicore 3.0Ghz cpu, 8gb+ ddr3+ ram, GPU bigger the better
Totem Arts Staff yosh56 Posted November 3, 2015 Totem Arts Staff Share Posted November 3, 2015 Would suggest going through with looking at the recommended specs for developers. The specs for the UDK vs. RenX are pretty different as generally games in the UDK don't go for the scale of RenX in terms of player count and size of online maps. HuggyBear
Right, gaming laptops with 3.0ghz+ processors are indeed expensive.
TheOlsenTwins
I believe that mainly a good GPU is needed..
Totem Arts Staff yosh56 Posted November 3, 2015 Totem Arts Staff Share Posted November 3, 2015 GPU is somewhat important... but for Unreal Engine 3.... and especially the UDK your processor takes a lot of pressure where the GPU probably SHOULD
HuggyBear
Would the game run well with the specs below (it's not a laptop!) The MOBO does not support more than 4GB CPU: Intel Xeon E5450 3.0GHz (Quad Core) RAM: 4GB DDR2 (2 x 2GB) VIDEO: ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB GDDR5 MOBO: Intel DG31PR Thanks! HuggyBear
Can I run this?
RoundShades
It runs for me on that fine, .2ghz less cpu and same GPU size. I have 8g ram, but that is mostly unused, the UDK takes like 3.5g ram which is close but my system uses 3.8g ram even with TS3 simultaneously so as long as your computer isn't virus-ridden or something eating the ram. EDIT: 1.6g for UDK, so really you could marginally run it on 3g ram.
Malak Dawnfire
Runs okay for me on ultra with a desktop AMD FX 8320 3.5 GHZ (Not overclocked) eight core 16 GB ram AMD R9 270x It's less the ram and amount of cores, a majority of them I never use during gaming unfortunately but you certainly want a solid processor and GPU. Totem Arts Staff yosh56 Posted November 8, 2015 Totem Arts Staff Share Posted November 8, 2015 I would spring for 8GB of RAM honestly, even though you won't be 'using' 8GB, it means you're less likely to suffer from any crashes regarding memory.
