  1. QUOTE ((NE)Fobby(GEN) @ Jun 30 2009, 09:59 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Progress has been kind of slow lately for some of our members for an array of different reasons, so we've planned all of our June content to coincide with an update sometime in July.[/b]

Thanks for an official word on it. Then again, I'm not dissapointing or expecting them to work their asses of for the mod, but usually questions dont hurt so therefor I asked.

    Keep it up! ;)
  2. Will there not be any update in June? :(

This is a community driven mod so you aren't forced to do anything etc, but will there not be 1 at all this month? Because if so I can stop spamming refresh on this forum a few times per day hoping for the news. :P

I explained why I thought they were getting better...

C&C3 is much better than Generals and RA3 is much better than C&C3. RA3 is actually fun to play and requires the most strategy out of any C&C game. The only thing that needs work is the AI and its cheating problem.[/b]

What made them so much better than Generals? It wasn't a C&C game (and shouldn't have gotten that title), but I loved the building system a lot more though (and wow, they messed up with graphics on RA 3 so bad...). Though the game plays alright.

I suggest make a commander that is able to give 'official' orders. Players would always have the choice to follow them or not. However something should be given to reward the players that follow the orders... like a set number of points. (however, ideas may have to be made to prevent this from being exploited into a point farm.)[/b]

Rewarding people for that sounds so sad....

    *cutted whine talk*

Can't keep people from having an opinion and to have this added in a later state (this should not have any priority for a first release at all) with the OPTION to turn it on, sounds great, but then I'd wish this would not be setup on the official server... really I do.
  5. No offense, but I really don't see the point in this.

It is 1 of those new features that only add (over)hyping of certain players. Simply because someone is new in a server he doesn't have a damn thing to say because this so called "commander" is an over-hyped player that has (some) fanboys because he is a mod and they ***-lick him.

Incase someone wants to reply something like:

Lulz, you are just jealous blabla.

No, I have owned an active server for a long time (where a fair amount of players have between 5 and 12 million points on the ladders, from normal Renegade game modes, no CTF etc) and I really hated all those features like resurrection of buildings, giving certain people more armor/hp because they are better (way to make the less good play even worse) and worse is even more power (hp, more damage, more funds, ability to buy anything anywhere on the map etc) for donators.

Reborn (the maker) is an awesome program and has contributed many nice features, but this is not 1 of them in my opinion.

Sure, I wouldn't mind if those services were available with an on/off feature for the host, but personally I hate those features and I rather prefer a normal server, options like !donate are nice features though, but when you are changing the whole aspect of the game; giving advantages to people over others, ressurecting buildings; I start to wonder if some people actually care about balance rather than making themselves invincible over others.

With every download copy of Renegade-X we will distribute instructions on how to build a Dousing Rod of Connection Superiority and the enchantment spells that will open the server window interface. Then you select a server, finish the enchantment spell (involves sacrificial blood) and start playing.[/b]

Will we be able to download the blood? ^_^
  7. I agree with that, lots of games have this, but the way a000clown said it, it sounds like all those servers except for 1 are hosted from a home pc.

    Then again,

my personal expections of players for this mod, especially in it's early days, is quiet high. I think that almost everyone who either enjoys or used to enjoy Renegade and has a pc that can run this game, would love to give it a try.

Add to that, that A: I live in Europe and would prefer to play in a server in Europe, B: I actually have a server here myself that has been hosting RxD (some might know it, others may not) for a very long time (talk about years) of which I'm sure it can handle a decent Unreal 3 based server (more than 1 even) and C: In it's early days I will be playing in my own server with a bunch of (old) friends to play this mod in a small group (+/- 16) before joining a main server, to get used to the new features & engine. D: Because ABC is a bit boring.

    So to repeat myself:

-Yes, I'd prefer to see 1 or more (depending on how many will play this mod) huge servers rather than a bunch of small ones.

-Yes, there are for Renegade, just like Crysis, Call of Duty etc. way too many servers, of which most are actually crap.

    and to add:

    Give a may update!

Seriously, why does everyone just have to have their own empty server hosted off their home pc that no one cares or heard of?[/b]

Why does everyone just have to make false assumptions?

    To your point:
Because the chances are slim that every server runs all possible game modes and not everyone likes the same server settings?
  9. QUOTE (Galen @ May 8 2009, 10:31 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
It would be better that we all try to go on one server, rather than trying to all host our own.[/b]

I don't know the limits of the Unreal 3 engine and the maximum slots for a server, but I really hope there will be enough players to fill multiple servers, especially at it's release (and I'd actually also expect that).
  10. QUOTE (Killa @ May 6 2009, 01:40 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
But at time of release you will be able to start your own servers, therefore you can be your own moderator :D [/b]

Do you maybe have any idea on the resource requirements of an UT3 server (which will/should be pretty equal to a Renegade X one(?)).
