  1. That's the trick. If you're better than your opponent you'll win the firefight. And yes, it's supposed to be a firefight, not whoever gets to shoot first, that's never fun.
  2. Understand it was done because random linked files can be dangerous. Nobody can verify the authenticity, even if you claim it's clean.
  3. As per usual, post your specs, including all peripherals and their current drivers. You never know what may cause interference.
  4. Left click shoots at the center of the crosshair, right click at a locked on unit? Or use right click to lock on/off?
  5. No, do NOT download any files other than official ones, linked by the Dev team.
  6. TTK is long ? I feel TTK's too short, once you learn to always aim for the head (I haven't, yet). Because of the constant action, players are always busy, so allowing for faster kills just isn't fun. It's already hard enough to watch out for vehicles and infantry, it would be a nightmare if I got killed in half a second, every time somebody decided to spray and pray in my general direction. Sure, you can do that, but the guy who more experience will always kill you, because he'll have enough time. That's the beauty of Renegade, it forces you to think before you engage: "Hmmm can I really kill this guy alone, or should I wait for backup/retreat to safety?) That being said, god help us all if some of the snipers I knew over the years came back.
  7. You're running 1920x1200 on a 8600 GT. You're lucky if the card doesn't catch on fire running this game.
  8. Former SOC here. Any OSTK's that used to play on Atomix around? I miss one of them in particular
  9. Which are the lines that disable ssao and set fxaa to 3 ?
  10. Hi guys, Yeah, you may have seen me around the forums, I'm one of the testers, and a seasoned Renegade Veteran. I've noticed there are many players around who are completely new to the CnC Mode. I believe in helping people learn and better understand how to play RenegadeX (myself included). The best gaming experience in RX can only be achieved through communication and gameplay core undestanding. To this end, I want to extend a hand and offer my experience and advice to whomever wants to listen. Add me on Steam http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198005738413/ (dirtycopgangsta), don't forget to mention why you did (I delete strangers from my list) or send me a pm on this site. I haven't found a TS (or any other similar program) server yet, so I'm open to suggestions. Let's have fun!
  11. Sure, I'd like to get together with some players, give us the teamspeak
  12. I'm talking about more than a "few" SBH litterally 6 of them doing nuke runs, and defending their nukes. On servers with 50+ players it doesn't matter that they are useless, there are plenty of players to cover them. This takes alot of people to defend base from, not just a few. 45 seconds is not enough to disarm 3 or more nukes being placed around the same time WHILE being defended by a separate SBH. This is what I mean by spam. On some maps it takes at least 15-20 seconds to even run across the base. Indeed, that's a balancing issue which, at the time when the original came out, was not foreseen. Maybe Westwood never intended for more than 32v32 in one server. Sbh's are quite dangerous when they get together in a murder and flock into the gdi base. First we must make sure this strategy is too OP, after which the devs can focus on bringing potential changes.
  13. I get a crash too, I've manually disabled most post processes. http://pastebin.com/bwg5DfDn
  14. Having only one remaining building is a pretty huge disadvantage. If the enemy team only has one building left and is still winning in points, then your team has horrible strategy. You don't win by doing nothing. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0232500/quotes
  15. Then the question's redundant. Of course there will be anti-cheat features.
  16. If a couple of enemies are running around as SBH's, that means they're effectively USELESS to their team, unless the successfully destroy a building. It's only fair that the defenders invest in a few people who focus on defending. Right now we have an influx of newbies who will need many more months before learning how the game works, which is good, because that means we're expanding our community.
  17. It's an RTS. Vehicles taking "potshots" at buildings is meant to keep the enemy occupied. This allows your teammates to either infantry rush (when possible) or just rush in with vehicles into beacon placement. Also, building give most points because you're meant to destroy them. Why would anybody even bother attacking them if they didn't give more points than anything else?
  18. Why add Renguard to a UDK game?
  19. Nope, voice chat doesn't work. There's so much stuff going on at once, it's much more efficient to learn to coordinate. 24, 32 or 64 people talking at once will just result in a clusterfuck of useless nonsense, which will only lead to everybody turning off voice chat.
  20. I'm with you on this one. As for the new players, well, we're the vets of Renegade, we know the game inside and out, and we love it just the way it is. Of course we will feel insulted when people propose changes. But this is Renegade-x, it's done in the hope of renewing the community, of expanding the community. Instead of being harsh, and brash, let's all turn to guiding n00bs to the true beauty that is the Renegade RTS, and boink them while doing it!
  21. Let me be the first person to welcome you to our community! It's always nice know we have a new player in our ranks. The challenge never was accuracy, it was how well you can coordinate your fire and outplay your opponent. .Oh, but they are a huge threat. One beacon can decide the game on its own. Do not underestimate them. Killing other players is not the ultimate goal. The goal is to destroy their base/get more points, killing enemies is the means to get to those goals.
  22. I remember trying to do in one of the previous versions, but it didn't work. Maybe something got changed or I failed to do it right.
  23. See, you argue that it's hard to kill the player. You're thinking about this all wrong, it's not about you, nor your opponent, it's about destroying/defending the building. All it takes is one technician with good aim to bring down a building, that's pretty damn strong, hence the "OP" refill. This isn't COD, or Battlefield, all that matters here, is that you cripple the enemy, by taking out his structures. All, and every player is expendable, because of the greater picture.
