QUOTE (havoc9826 @ Aug 18 2009, 05:37 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I think Fobby meant it'll just make the single beep that you get when you click the mouse to plant it, so people nearby (or potential c4 sticking victims) might become aware of it.[/b]
That's kinda silly imo. Whenever you planted a Beacon, there was an announcement saying "Ion Cannon Deployed" or something. -
:ditto:
You could pirate it, but you'd need to play on "cracked" servers, where the server doesn't send packets to the master server.
Just buy it, it's worth the hassle imo.

QUOTE (havoc9826 @ Aug 15 2009, 11:46 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>^-- Ditto. If the range of the sound can be limited to 10 feet, it will only add to the immersion factor. Any farther, and it'll make people who were busy fighting other units instantly aware of the stank/SBH's presence and allow them to react accordingly much faster than they otherwise would have.
Freaky  See attached. (1 MB total forum limit <_<)[/b]
That's easy to create, I do it all the time.
All it is, is a little white/pink noise and variable ADSR envelope settings on the synth
Ofc, REAL stealth technology should be quiet aswell, not just being unable to see it! -

QUOTE (NEFobbyGEN @ Mar 21 2009, 06:13 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>That's also true. World of Warcraft really killed off a lot of avid Renegade players, many that I used to know and have since disappeared (because they're busy playing WoW).[/b]
Why the hell would you play WoW over Ren at the time? <_< -
Not really, it's perfectly legit to do this as I'd imagine people do this in REAL life battles. ie: walking beside/behind an enemy vehicle. The only thing the harvester doesn't use is it's rearview mirrors
Woah, a little wild tangent there.

QUOTE ((NE)Fobby(GEN) @ Aug 1 2009, 06:50 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>No you are mistaken. Repairs guns in multiplayer only repair and will never damage a building or unit, no matter what team.[/b]
Ahh I see. Thanks for clearing that up.
I don't know what gave me the impression that you could destroy buildings... -
QUOTE (dirtycopgangsta @ Aug 1 2009, 03:24 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>The repair gun doesn't do damage to enemies, it repairs them just like it repairs friendlies, therefore it can't destroy a structure.[/b]
I know it doesn't kill enemies, my question was destroying buildings. Iirc, you could point your repair gun at the master terminal in any building, you could destroy it slowly. More repair guns, the quicker the building was destroyed. -
This may be a silly question, but could you use the repair gun inside a structure to destory, it like before on those master terminals?

Thanks Fobby and Bob for answering my question!
Fobby little tip: Next time you record your podcast, you might want import it into an audio editing software, and stick a compressor with a high ratio setting on it. This is to stop it from having volume fluctuations and the voice stays at a (near) constant level. Also, could you turn down the music ever so slightly, it was kinda hard to make out what you said sometimes.
-
OMFG, it looks frigging awesome!
One thing: Are you going to remove that red wiremesh around the enemy vehicle? I didn't see the black hand go all invisible either...
-
Fook me, 400 meg "trailer"
I'm definitely staying up for another 20 mins to watch this! I simply cannot wait for it's release.

Are you having a laugh or what?
No offense, but I could do that on paint. (almost)
Scan some artwork you've done on paper, and show us.

QUOTE ((NE)Fobby(GEN) @ Jul 2 2009, 03:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Have you? I have no idea how it works.[/b]
Basically you have two parts. A carrier signal which is the synthesizer playing a note, and a modulator which is the voice/signal being altered.
The autotune effect (T-Pain style) is actually a pitch correcting process. Many people believe it's a vocoder but it isn't.
That doesn't mean you can't get a similar effect. I always though the autotune sounded like a bagpipe effect.
So all you need to do is record yourself talking/singing and then load up the vocoder. You route the synth to the vocoder via the carrier input and the vocals to the modulator input. In order for it to work, you need to press a note down on the synthesizer while the voice is being played.
Think of it like a color filter. The picture = voice, and the transparent red glasses = synthesizer. The vocoder just allows the voice to be transformed, and thus you'll see all the red end of the spectrum. -

QUOTE (epicelite @ Mar 19 2009, 02:57 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Mine was Doom.[/b]
Oh bummer LOL!
Technically mine was Wolfenstein ET, but Renegade was the first FPS I really got my head into! -
QUOTE (CrazyAndy @ Mar 7 2009, 11:11 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I can still remember getting ADSL connection for very first time and starting to play Renegade immediately. As it was my first internet online multiplayer game I was thinking that there will be many great multiplayer games just like this one after a couple of years. I can't describe how wrong I was. Now, 6 years later I still haven't seen anything even nearly as good as it is.[/b]
Haha OMG, I'm with you 100% on this!
It seems there is a pattern here. Most of us had renegade as our first FPS and thats why we hold it close to our hearts!

I read about this world domination game mode someone suggested. They wrote a very well detailed post on this. Any idea where I can find it again?
