  1. Just looking at an older build:

    ScreenShot00664.JPG

The radar should look like that, but with the same style as the current one. (If that makes any sense :huh :)

Slightly transparent green/red background, but solid opaque outline. Deffo looks better with the pics of the weapons. Just size them down to the current size!

Dude I agree with your post 100% !

If you look at this: http://www.renegade-x.com/Forums/index.php...post&id=390
I prefer the structures to be on the side and the money etc where it is now.

I think one should reduce the transparency slightly like you pointed out on the radar, but it should be almost translucent when it comes to the health.

Also, I was thinking for the weapons, we use little images of them instead of outlines. That way you can see it clearly no matter what map you're playing on.

    You (partially) colour blind?[/b]

As weird as this sounds, some people who play games actually cannot see very well. They see most things but not everything.
The HUD atm is alright I think. I do like the yellow for GDI and the red one for Nod. I prefered the older health bars where it was just one bar instead of many blocks. Maybe if you unified both factions HUD's but keep one or two features like the radar with it's respective faction colours, it might do the trick.

I can understand that in the brighter maps especially Hourglass, you can't see a damn thing. I think the HUD needs more translucency (Opaque) so that you can see it clearly, but retain it's cool see through effect.

    Beta Version 0.35

It will be a Wednesday, so expect the mod download to go up sometime in the middle of the day eastern time (GMT -5). If you live in a timezone far ahead of EST, the mod will be available to you on the morning of October 1st.

As for servers, we will be talking about that on our release post. We will have 2 US servers available and 1 UK server on September 30th, ready for the release. We will also have at least 4 download clients available for you all.[/b]

You guys should read the pages a little more slowly. ;)

how about it stands for the biblical 'land of Nod'? I'm not sure what the hell it means for holy christian things but there are lots and lots of references to the bible in the C&C universe. Pictures of Kane and Abel and other simbols. Kane himself actually has a great resemblance to the biblical Kane figure, who was described almost the same as the Kane we see in the game.

    Yours sincerely,
    Demigan.[/b]

Definitely agree there. I'm not too clued up about the bible, but I can see the similarities between those two.

I think the original idea behind Kane was that he would be the son of Adam, brother of Abel, aka the one who committed the first Biblical murder. Apparently he was doomed to the land of Nod because of that murder, which is supposed to explain his immortality. But this was just their idea in 1995, this could have [and probably did] change either by Tiberian Sun or after that.

Other religious references include the Marked of Kane, Seth crucified in the Temple of Nod, etc.[/b]

Yup, hence their full title is "Brotherhood of NOD."
Isn't Tiberian Sun a different universal from the regular numbered Command and Conquer series?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brotherhood_of_Nod

Quite an interesting read at the bottom. I didn't think games could have this level of depth when it comes to the story lines. :)

well when i read NOD or Nod on a C&C website or forum ,the first thing i think isnt national organization on disability :P so if its write with or without cap .. i dont really care, cause i know what it mean[/b]

    hah xD

I thought Kane thought his baldness was a disability. Hence NOD :P
GDI stands for Global Defense Initiative, I'm pretty sure NOD does stand for something.

I have a question for the release of the beta at September 30th, when I saw at your Moddb page the new screenshot of the Renegade X menu:

Will the beta already contain full bot support or do you plan to add it later?[/b]

    Read the update...

No bots are implemented yet, but in the future its a possibility.
  8. The one thing that's bugging me atm is that outline of the units. It's great thats it's finally been wrapped properly but I'm not sure about it sticking in the foreground. Ie, the green lines should be behind the engineer. (not visible where the engi is)

Although this can easily be avoided if you switch to the 1st person view.

I could be wrong though, just my opinion! :)

The one thing ive hated about UT3 Engine that is doesnt support Any AA But looking at those screenshots it looks like you have it enabled.. Anyway the mod looks great!

Ive had UT3 on my PC for years for this mod... Yah! Renegade X ftw![/b]

You can Force AA on Ut3 for some time now! :D

I noticed how jagged and edgy the HD trailer was, hopefully this fix will sort out those issues! I can't wait to Play Ren X with smooth and detailed textures! :D

It's the small yellow boxes (black stripes on the lid I think) that turned around in mid-air. They were so useless in the game as it only gave you either money or refilled your ammo, that practically no-one knew what they were for or where they were. Only when money was an issue people tried to find a crate.

So on most servers they now have incredibly big gray boxes which give a shitload of various things, example:

Random weapon crate: you'll receive a random weapon, from sniper, flamethrower to railgun it's all possible.
Beacon crate: you'll get the beacon of your team in your inventory, no extra charge. Unlike in the first crate editions it doesn't go off in 10 seconds :)
Money crate: get a random amount of money up to 1500 I believe. I usually get a ton of money on maps I don't need it and then 8 credits on maps that you do :)
Death crate: sucks to be you, your dead. If you are in a vehicle, your vehicle is dead
Nuke crate: big badaboom a nuke explosion where you stand, killing friend and foe alike.
Random character crate: gives you a random character, usually from your own team, basic infantry excluded.
Spy crate: the crate everyone hopes to get, you'll get a SBH trooper but with the added ability that the base defences don't fire at you untill you specifically have destroyed a building. There's lots of paranoid tactics (justified paranoia, but paranoia all the same) to keep one of those out.
Vehicle crate: damn handy at the beginning of a game, you'll get a random GDI or Nod vehicle, this vehicle doesn't count to the limit and it's so usefull to have a flame tank checking for SBH in islands :)

    Yours sincerely,
    Demigan.[/b]

Awesome! Thanks for your indepth reply mate! :D

I never played on servers that had those types of crates. The only way I knew how to get credits was by either; waiting for the harvester to return to base or keep on attacking the opposition.

Also, you said release date is the 30th. What about the time difference? I'm about 5 hours ahead of the US as I live in the UK. Is it the 30th local time?
  11. QUOTE ((NE)Fobby(GEN) @ Sep 22 2009, 03:32 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
You mean crates? Yeah they will be included. I think we're having only money crates in the first release, and then adding the other random crates in a later release.[/b]

I haven't played the game in ages, but I don't remember there being crates? Was that boxes you destoyed to gain credits and ammo?
