zocom7
I have decided to add for the 20th C&C anniversary, a new poll for the best C&C Indie game. Only eight made it to this list excluding the incomplete Tiberium RPG game (which is untitled) and WIP games like Generals 2 on the Unity 3D Engine and an untitled C&C game on the Unreal Engine 4. This time I used Pollvote as the main voting site. If there is spam voting in Pollvote (in which I hope it should not happen) for that question, that question will be redone again into Strawpoll.me to limit spam voting. Although not official by EA and so is ModDB/IndieDB, this poll is just another fun poll, but this poll has never been done before. Next week I will set up round two of the polls. Best C&C Indie -- Renegade-X vs. RA: A Path Beyond: http://vote.pollcode.com/88676661 Best C&C Indie -- Tiberium Crystal War vs. Tiberian Sun Reborn: http://vote.pollcode.com/65255612 Best C&C Indie -- Mental Omega (v3) vs. Open RA: http://vote.pollcode.com/84598428 Best C&C Indie -- Twisted Insurrection vs. The Dawn of the Tiberian Age: http://vote.pollcode.com/56742153 Note that Mental Omega (version 3) and Twisted Insurrection had became indies without the original C&C game(s). Also note that Open RA is the only exception for an indie mod tool game. Also coming soon to Moddb (I hope), also for the C&C's 20th anniversary, I will set up a new C&C poll larger than the typical NCAA March Madness bracket. So far my bracket is almost done, just missing out some new released C&C mods I have yet to see before.
Totem Arts Staff Handepsilon Posted September 3, 2015 Totem Arts Staff Share Posted September 3, 2015 Mental Omega doesn't need original C&C? since when? I have 3.0 Beta Revision 1 and it still needs Yuri's Revenge To clear things up at start, Mental Omega 3.0 is NOTstandalone. While Tiberian Dawn, Red Alert and Tiberian Sun are now freeware, Red Alert 2 and its expansion are not. This means in order to play Mental Omega 3.0, you require C&C Red Alert 2 and its expansion, Yuri's Revenge, on your PC.
Agent
I think my top three (in order) would have to be: 1) RenX (naturally) 2) OpenRA (this is a pretty awesome project, imho) 3) APB (haven't played it in many years now, though) Reborn I haven't checked out since the infantry beta, and I've never bothered even touching the other 4 though, so I don't know how those would fare. Totem Arts Staff Handepsilon Posted September 3, 2015 Totem Arts Staff Share Posted September 3, 2015 I chose RenX (of course lol) and Mental Omega. OpenRA might be great, nostalgic, and heavily moddable but in terms of uniqueness, gameplay, graphic, story and difficulty (Vanilla RA2's Brutal = Mental's Easy) I hold Mental Omega 3.0 high
epicelite
I'd just like to interject for a moment. OpenRA and Renegade-X are completely different things from the rest. OpenRA being from the ground up a new engine (for more then one game, Tib Sun soon™) that uses graphical and sound assets from the old RTS games. Renegade-X being on a different engine and almost everything other then that is made from the ground up. The rest of the games are (to my knowledge) mods for Tiberian Sun or Renegade and, in the least, are reusing the engine. So my question is: Can these games really be pitted against each other fairly? Isn't it a bit biased putting this on the RenX forum or is this being posted elsewhere?
zocom7
Final round is open: http://vote.pollcode.com/92888764 (Beware of ads unless you have pop-up blockers or plugins) Mental Omega is now scratched from the list because it's not a standalone game. Boomer
Only Ren-X and OpenRA are completely made from scratch. Others are mods to the original games, technically.
