Reasons to not want to make a native client for Linux or OSX

Reading through the forums I have found that one developer said there won't be any native client for Linux or OSX in the future.

Here I want to ask, why?

Having in consideration that Unreal Engine is cross-platform and the market share of Linux and OSX rivals the one of Windows.

What are the actual reasons behind this decision? Are there any real technical impediments to make a native game for there platforms?

So this is the Year Of The Linux Desktop then? Finally! All hail openSUSE!

Anything that takes away resources from "fixing the game" is a bad idea. After full release they shall think about it. Maybe it will become Steamplay too. Wont your kids be happy. :o

UDK (Unreal Development Kit) does NOT support Linux.

And UE3 certainly did not have native Linux support. In fact I don't recall it ever did or ever will. (UE4 does however)

So the problem is the free version. Looks like that with a different game development framework this issue would not have come.

Aye. Just dual boot. Most Linux users have to do that anyways.

Most? I play even GTA 5 with Wine.
