This is to the mods, I know you guys are using Joomla!. I have a lot of experience with joomla. But your security sucks. Here is my advice to improve it:

#1. Add an ip denier to this directory: http://www.renegade-x.com/administrator/ and allow ONLY the ips of the users that are allowed to the back end.

#2. What ever you do DON'T integrate Invision Power Board with Joomla!, because then your only asking for trouble.

#3. Keep components and modules to a bare minimum, Joomla! is very safe out of the box but becomes VERY unsafe as soon as you begin adding modules and components.

#4. Throw in .htaccess files in all of these directories:

administrator/
cache/
components/
images/
includes/
installation/
language/
libraries/
media/
modules/
plugins/
templates/
tmp/
xmlrpc/

#5 Use sftp, and enable https for the administrator directory, and advisably for the entire site.

Note #5 is a BIG deterrent to any hack attacks. I hope you guys don't run into any problems, by the way when I was browsing the forum board a couple of times I was promted to login to the backend via http login form. THATS kind of a bug that should be fixed.

Well, if you guys are looking for a site integration tool, IP.Board 3 has an addon called "IP.Content" which is their CMS product. It completely stomps the ---- out of vB's CMS which is just a porting of Wordpress on a better back-end. I've used both IP.Content and vB's CMS, so this next statement would be the advice.

If you want a quick site to be made, go vBulletin. Their CMS is quicker to "learn" and setup. If you want a fully integrated site, go Invision Power Board with IP.Content. IP.Content has full page templating and database support.

Just my advice. ;)

I'm planning on buying IP.Content myself for my licensed board before this summer. ;)
