I've never used Steam before. If I purchase this now, can I install it on another computer later? (Even if I don't install it on this computer?)[/b]

Yes, all your games are tied to your steam account. You can download your games anywhere by just installing steam and logging in. It's a bit different from retail though, it won't download an installer instead it will download the files directly to your computer and you'll need to be running steam to play your games.

Concerning the 'You need Steam to run UT3' statement, I tried replacing the Steam UT3.exe with a Non-Steam UT3.exe, and I could play Unreal Tournament 3 without needing to start Steam, even online.

Though there's no reason for me to play without Steam as it's a lot easier to communicate with friends and stuff on it, and it doesn't use much CPU and RAM.

YOU CAN STILL SURF PORN WHEN LEVELS CHANGE BY SHIFT+TABBING & USING THE IN BUILT WEB BROWSER. Damnit why does everyone overlook this blatent bonus everytime steam is mentioned :P

I ported my retail copy onto steam and copied the files across, also saving a 9GB download. A few hiccups verifying files, but in all honesty it was smoother than expected. You can sitll install your stand-alone copy with the old serial without problems too. Some crappy rumour declared it null & void which is a complete lie by anti-steam gamers.

Benefits of steam aren't that huge. Auto patching, achievements, and the friends chat etc.. Since Steam was initialy released it has over-time become a very stable platform regardless of people's past grudges and retarded diagnostic skills.

Yeah, and with the processing power of the computers these days, you can run Steam like it's nothing, unlike long ago.

Also, this offer was extended until March 22nd, so if you haven't got it yet, but cried out loud that you missed it, today is your chance. Sorry, I forgot to mention this earlier ;(

you dont get a disk, you just get to download it...
i want something more... substantial, real. If my computer crashes (witch shouldnt be for too long) I want to be able to install it on another computer...[/b]

In that case you just login to Steam on that other computer and re-download the game.

Just in case you missed or decided not to buy it on Steam, the retail price at Gamestop is currently $12.99 for a physical copy, which isn't too shabby. You can also use the CD key to activate the game on Steam, as it is one of the games supported for that.

And what if your computer explodes in a cinematic style epic explosion with the disk still inside? (That, or scratch it) What are you going to use then for installing? In that case Steam is safer, because when you buy the game there it's indestructible, you can just download it again when you log into Steam.

Steam remembers what games have been verified through your account. Say you were to download and wipe your computer the next day. Just redownload Steam and you will have the ability unlocked to download UT3.
