  1. Don't be afraid to die/lose your vehicle. If you have 5 mammoth tanks and 2 mrls sitting outside the enemy base and someone calls in a good airstrike, don't waste it sitting there. Move in with your team while you have the opportunity.

And from that, communicate with your team. I know the chat system is a bit pants just now but communication is key. Try to coordinate your attacks with your team so you can actually move in on the enemy base.

Don't underestimate flame tanks. They have short range but they do a ton of damage. A group of flame tanks will do a lot of damage to anything, especially structures.

While stealth black hand helps you get into the enemy base better, a technician can defend a beacon better. Place mines on your way up the ramp before placing the beacon. Put remotes around the beacon. The enemy will either kill themselves getting to the beacon or be considerably hurt. Finish them with the remotes or pistol/SMG/whatever.

Heavy pistol is a pretty good and cheap anti armour weapon. It can easily to 10-20HP of damage in a single clip and it can be bought without a barracks/hand of nod. Have a team carrying the heavy pistol and you can make a pretty decent defence.

  2. I propose the notion that we ignore the opinions of anyone who has not played the original game.

I'm serious =P. Former players who are coming back for the updated graphics and gameplay can contribute plenty on what parts of the the old game needed fixing/balancing, and what was so magical about the original game that absolutely needs to stay. They know what Renegade is supposed to be like, as well as what could be improved.

Newcomers while welcomed to grow the community do not contribute imo, they have no reference except for Battlefield or COD, and that's exactly what we want to avoid, to keep Renegade Renegade and not another clone. They should just shut up and learn the game first before whining about the boink and stuff.

Sure enough, the ones who want the game more like some crappy hand holding MMS should and probably will be looked over. On the other hand; old or new, if the point they raise is with reason, it would be silly to ignore them.

  3. It is a bit weird. I know PTFO should be rewarded and I don't really care about points in a game like this but it always feels weird when I'm going 25-1 defending the base against vehicle rushes chopper/engineer attempts and only having a couple hundred points when some guy with an arty is just holding his mouse button on the enemy power plant, racking up thousands while feeding the enemy thousands in repair points.

  4. The airstrike is kind of unclear, I think the game should do all it can to scream AIRSTRIKE!!! "shoot this mans to stop it from happening"

You know, I was almost going to say this.

    As a joke.

    Cause that would be awful.

  5. I don't agree that it's the games fault people aren't noticing the enemy point a laser at them for several seconds.

I don't agree that it's the games fault people aren't paying attention to EVA/CABAL telling them to get out of the way.

If people can't pay attention in the middle of all that mouse1 action they're doing, that's entirely on them as far as I'm concerned.

I think you fail to see what we are trying to point out, with as much going on at the screen there is no way to see the laser, its hard enough to see without there being explosions around and for the voice, when something like, idk, bombs and tanks shells going off all over and people using "I NEED REPAIR" commands you wont even notice it at all.

I know what you're pointing out. That it's hard to keep track of everything going on when you're in a battle. The least of which being some guy on a hill with a laser pointer while you're trying to kill the enemy building.

The thing is, I have never really had a problem noticing the laser or the announcement. Hell, I even spam the fallback command when I do but people are rarely paying attention... And that's what I think the real problem is; the players. Not because they're bad. Not because they're idiots but simply because they aren't paying attention.

I can not honestly say I see a problem with airstrikes currently because I simply don't have the problems people here are complaining about. Don't get me wrong, I've been caught in airstrikes too. I know very well that with everything going on that it's easy to miss the little details but do I think it's because the game is unbalanced?

No. It's because I fucked up.

  6. Stop it with your fair warning, that blends in with everything else thats being said, lacking any visual cue, and the laser is so tiny and transparent, nevermind all those effects the maps have nevermind all the explosions going around, I've never really seen one.

Nothing fair about air strikes, if they were so obvious people would be dodging them, they're not, they need to be clearer.

I won't censor myself because others need the game to hold their hand.

What? Hand holding? It got nothing to do with hand holding, there is currently no way to notice while in big combat if someone from miles away is targeting you, there needs to be a circle or giant arrow or something to show this area is being bombarded and at the same time make it so it don't hurt inf as much, as airstrikes can and have been abused already to cover beacons.

  8. I like them as they are. I personally don't think they need to be changed. I notice most people complaining about airstrikes are basing it mostly of one single map (field). Only rarely do I see airstrikes being called on other maps.

The thing is, there are already fair warnings that an airstrike is coming. Not only is there a laser pointing exactly where the airstrike is going to hit for several seconds, the game even tells you when an enemy airstrike is incoming.

Maybe the laser could be a little more visible or maybe the lasing could take a few seconds longer but as far as I'm concerned, it's peoples own fault for being caught in one given the visible and audible warnings already in the game.

  9. On Goldrush, the obelisk can reach the rear entrance making sneak attacks particularly bothersome for GDI while GDI's base is almost completely undefended at the rear.

The one guard tower behind the GDI barracks doesn't do enough damage to kill anyone, allowing Nod to run straight over to the power plant relatively unhindered.

What would help is to either provide more cover at Nod rear entrance or better defence on GDIs rear.

  10. I suggested this late in the beta so I don't know if the devs are considering it (or even noticed it =P). Being able to spin up the miniguns (officer and LCG) at the cost of speed.

I know in the case of officers, secondary fire does already tighten the spread a bit but I rarely use LCG to say if it does the same.

I also hate that you have to wait for the miniguns to spin down before firing again.

  11. ive you have sounds on you can either hear EVA or CABAL saying airstrike inbound you have aroun 5-6 seconds to react on them

Seriously, this. Players can see the enemy laser targeting them for several seconds and they're even told that an enemy airstrike is on its way. As far as I'm concerned, its peoples own fault for not paying attention.

The only map I've even seen airstrikes used in abundance is field when one team is camped outside the enemy base, too afraid to actually move in.
