  1. first, i wrote 8800 cause i didnt thinked before writing and i wrote the same number as you lol.. but E8800 dont exist .... the max you can have its a E8600 @ 3.3. so either you have a E8200 @ 2.66 or you dint have write the good cpu.... http://www.cpuid.com and dl cpuz, you will be fix

anyway any C2D cpu can run over 3ghz .. even my old E6300 ( not hte new pentium dual core E6300) @ 1.8 was able to run @ 3Ghz, you only need a good fan, not the shitty stock one

your mobo support what? new graphic card? new cpu??

for the graphic card, no problem, even if its a pci-e 1.0 port, you will not see a big change between this and a new 2.0 pci-e. your cpu will bottleneck you before. even your 8800GT 512mb is a PCI-E 2.0 videocard and it work perfect in your pc

for the cpu, you motherboard, with the latest bios updated, can support all Core2Duo/Core2Quad series. any quad core in Q6000,Q8000,Q9000 series,. you board support 45nm cpu, so no worries about upgrading. after that its Core I7/I5/I3 familly, and you will need another mobo for that.

about the buying a new mobo and a new videocard.... SLI .. ok SLI and CF are needed when you play game under heavy graphic and high resolution. if you game @ 1920*1080 and higher, go SLI ONLY IF YOU GOT A GOOD CARD AT FIRST ... its always better to have one kick ass card than 2 mediums one ... buying a new mobo and a 8800GT used, cause it will be really hard to get a new one first, and a cheap one ... normally around 100$us on ebay ...just to go sli you will put a min of 200$ .. card and mobo ... forget it and buy a better graphic card at same price, or a lil more , who will kick the ass of your 2 X 8800GT in SLI and you will gain time .. no mobo swapping :P

i build custom pc for ppl since 8 years, and when i put a part in a pc, normally its the best for the $$$ that the customer have put on table. trust me, alot of ppl are happy that i didnt follow what they wanted at begin, to have sli first. dont be fool, SLI and CF is a really good technology, but it depend of alot of things. not everyone need it

So i want to upgrade my pc.

    Specs:

    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-G13M-S2L
Processor: Intel Core 2 duo [email protected]
    RAM: 4GB
Graphic card: Nvidia Geforce 8800 gt 512mb

Now, I have around 250 euros, and i'd like to upgrade my graphic unit. I've thought about going SLI (buying another 8800 and a new mb) but he told me I have to either overclock my cpu to +3 GHz or buy a new one. So i'm not an expert about these things, what would be my best option ?

    Thanks.

PS: oh and i need to find something either in belgium (or close to it.) or in romania.[/b]

dont change your cpu, OC it to 3.2 . it will be dont without problem, dont worries. ppl hit 4GHZ 95% of time with the E8400. so the 8800 ... the next upgrade in cpu worl will be a Quad core, but like i said, you got a damn good cpu, dont change it for now

dont go SLI, go with a newer unit. im a Nvidia fan, but the 8800GT is aged. aim a HD5850 or GTX275. you can find some HD4890 at some aggresive price too
  3. first of all, Pentium dual core.... modele number??????

i got the P45-DS3l, and i know it support Pentium DC BUT you need a bios update. and if the bios dont support it, dont think it will start

so if you can find a cpu between this range

    C2D E4***

    C2D E6*** ( not hte Petium Dual core E6300)

    C2Q Q6***

thos cpu run normally on the first bios of your mobo. you need them to upgrade you bios

you got a list of supported cpu on the GB website, with the bios revision they need

    GA-P35-DS3L

lol, the poll isn't exactly unbiased.

But that's just the stereotype crap that Apple's marketers push out to the sheeple that mindlessly flock to and defend them. It's not even slightly true, just like everything they claim in their commercials is not even slightly true (I'm surprised no one has tried a lawsuit for false advertising).

The tools don't make the artist; the artist makes the artist. It's all about their ability to use the tools they have. The cold hard fact is that there is no extra benefit to using a Mac or a PC specifically for any creative task, other than the general pros or cons the hardware or software has like compatibility or customization.

All that being said, PC all the way. Cheaper, much more compatible, much more customizeable, less closed-source.[/b]

omg ... the little mac vs pc again ..

mac .. its good .. well since some years now, they use intel cpu and chipset lol so with the chipset, you can have good videocard from ati and Nvidia. since apple make the change to use PC PARTS . ya mac is good ...

you dont aim the same ppl .. mac are for artys .. ya and no ... Artys is supposed to work hard to live with their passion no??? and like 5% of artist are popular, the rest need another job :P Mac are too expensive for them hahahhaha :P

no kiddin, mac had the monopole in the past on the good side of multimedia software. but now you have the choice to get every damn software in pc of mac version .... they claim to have the best monitor quality and color. .. if i pay 2000$ for a laptop witha core 2 duo 2.13ghz, 4 gb ram and a low end video card .. i hope the monitor is good at this price ... if not ill buy the same part in pc laptop and pay 700$ .. ok not the same design .. but its still overpriced.

ppl who buy mac had already mac in the past. and look at ppl who got one. i know some ppl who got imac cause the design is cool and them close firend got imac ... the barely can press the POWER button on the laptop .... but to be cool, they paid over 2000$ ... ok .. me i got a gaming laptop, with a 9800MGTS inside and i paid 800$canadian .... the design is weird .. asus made some weird thing in past, but at least, its powerful

for sure the pool is bias here .. its a gaming forum on a UT3 mod lol not all game are port on mac OSX and alot of game dont run good on mac .. thx to low spec @ high price

Okay so i click the link, i save renegade x once its finished downloading to C:\Program Files\Unreal Tournament 3, because thats where Unreal Tournament 3 is located. I then go to UT3.exe and created shortcut. I go to properties add the little mod wording attachment they tell you to and i get the message that it is invalid. I already got the UT3 patch they tell you to get. I got it before downloading Renegade-X. Why does this not work. I did what they told me to. Would it have anything to do with the fact that its a .rar file? please help, does the target addon change as a result of me putting it in C:\Program Files\Unreal Tournament 3?[/b]

    well for the target

if you got a X64 OS, simply paste this line in target, copy everything, even ''

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Unreal Tournament 3\Binaries\UT3.exe" -mod=..\Renegade -solomod

    if a 32bits OS

    "C:\Program Files\Unreal Tournament 3\Binaries\UT3.exe" -mod=..\Renegade -solomod

I doubt EA is going to be impressed with the maybe 100 or 200 people that will still be playing this game in 3 months time. From a business standpoint it's not interesting to create a completely new game for a community as small as the current Renegade community. Seriously, we're not that big. And the Renegade X community is even smaller.

Something I do secretly hope for though, as the mod continues to grow, is that either EA or Epic start to take an interest in the game and maybe give it a form of support or at least publicity. It's possible, just look at Counterstrike, but the team would really have to work on this for a few more years.[/b]

well on fileplanet, 2730 ppl have dl the mod .. so if you count that almost the 3/4 of this ppl bought ut3 for ren-x, and a good part bought it during the last weekend on steam ... and dont forget that FP is not the only link provider .. we need to know how many ppl dled it from other source ...
  10. QUOTE (BLaZor @ Sep 30 2009, 02:34 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
    I heard UT3 can support 128 players.
This is possible to host that amount on renx with the size of the maps?[/b]

all server over 50 players i played in had lag. even on a dedicated box. you will see alot of 32 players cause they are all rented server. and itsthe sweetest spot to keep optimal perfo ratio vs ppl in server. other, like the official Ren-X server are on a dedicated box
  11. QUOTE (Zeg @ Sep 30 2009, 09:36 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
As I have no prior game hosting experience, I may contact you later when the full release is out to help me get this set up if that is alright with you? I'm pretty sure the company will not be too interested in caring on teaching me how to do things, let alone how to work the mod.[/b]

google was my friend on that, 3 weeks ago i had no clue how to set a game server, and now i can work in .ini without worrying about crashing server lol
  12. QUOTE (Zeg @ Sep 30 2009, 09:26 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I do not want to get a dedicated server box, just a game server, that is hosted from their company in Chicago. I'm not sure if that would end up helping them install that mod to the server, but I sure hope so. It'd be great to have a Ren-X server.

I am not worrying about getting a server in the near future, not until the full release.

But thank you for making a tutorial about it, as it might help the company to install the mod onto the UT3 game server that i would like to host.[/b]

well normally you install mod, not the company. they provide the main game and the server, and you go on the box via FTP client
  13. QUOTE (Zeg @ Sep 30 2009, 09:15 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I recently asked a hosting company for an Unreal Tournament 3 server if they would support this mod within a game server they would host for me. They asked "Most mods are supported, are there specific requirements of this mod?"

And I also am not sure if you guys will provide a bot with the server side option, or would that have to be something that like the Brenbot would have to be adjusted to? And would it be able to be adjusted so you could see it within some mIRC room?[/b]

for the bot , i dont think, i know some community work on a kinda ''brenbot'' but you will not see it before some other release

for irc, you can use R3porter, a UT3 mutator
