actually, you can. you can calculate how effective your armour gets with all kinds of formulas, but i'm getting nitpicky here. but the main point is, you can decide which sides of your vehicle will be better protected IRL and ingame. and that's all we need to know. ??? I can't tell if you're agreeing with me or disagreeing. i agreed, but i did make an addition to your post to make it a bit more complete. besides, who cares about if i agree or not?

Directional armor is not... actually, vehicle combat in renegade has never been realistic. you must have quite some armour if your tanks is able to endure 10 hits of artillery fire. in real life, getting shot at your barrel/loop means you aren't able to fire anymore. getting hit in your caterpillars means your vehicle isn't able to drive as well as it used to. in battlefield3, you would actually lose one or more of your vehicle's funtions if it was under heavy fire, or had to fire through a smokescreen. with directional armour, you take advantage of the weaker spots of the vehicle, which somehow damages the tank as a whole, which doesn't make sense. yet, it could happen in Renegade X. actually, you can. you can calculate how effective your armour gets with all kinds of formulas, but i'm getting nitpicky here. but the main point is, you can decide which sides of your vehicle will be better protected IRL and ingame. and that's all we need to know. EDIT: maybe... but directional armour doesn't have to make such a big impact on the game really. it depends on where the multipliers are, how much the multipliers count, and how you put it in use, off course. 120% at smaller weakpoints won't make a big diffrence really. 300% is a total gamebreaker though.

i'm afraid not. EA doesn't allow the dev team to make/accept any money out of this project. it's already quite a feat that they managed to let EA allow them to make this project on it's own!

They already put a deadline on themselves with them saying it will be out in 2013 and what I said was sure if you want to go on to next year do it but give us a release date. So it's not pressuring them anymore than they already were in the first place... Wrong. If they would put an exact release date on this game, they really would have to stick to it. Right now, it's only a suggestion. But i have faith in the team that they can still release it in 2013.

...if you do what R315r4z0r just said (which many people do), it's going to be a sacrifice you're going to have to take. Thats also my main concern with this. This feature would kinda dictate you not to drive backwards anymore in vehicles like the arty even though many people like to do that. Also driving sideways would make you more vulnerable. Beeing able to drive my vehicle how i want and as crazy as i want in the fights is part of the fun in this game for me so i would be worried if we introduce this. So if we would do this we should have a solution for this aswell like maybe only applying the extra damage when getting very close to the enemy. yeah, but because you're the dev, you decide where the weak spots on the tanks are, right? you could change it to your wishes!

you have no idea how nit-picky the conversations on BHP can get. you'll get a headache within 10 minutes. 1. the APB idea is still not final, they're still working on it and isn't released yet. 2. most of the weakpoints are placed at the edges of a tank, and with the extra recoil both APB and RenX is going to have (think of black dawn), you're going to risk missing a lot of bullets, in particular the missile launcher, considering the slow bullet travel of Gunner's launcher, and the lock-on feature automatically locks to the middle of the vehicle which is better defended, and also which makes enemy tanks harder to hit if it's hiding at a wall. because a warhead isn't smart enough to dodge a wall. As for tank vs. tank combat: this would balance the fight in favour of the defender, because the defender decides the rules of the fight, and the attacker will have to play along with it. yes, this does negtively affect driving sideways. but how you drive is often related to if you're attacking or defending. if you're defending, you'll be driving sideways to be able to drive away from heavy fire quickly without steering. with the added weakpoints, this will be useless. offenders in the other hand, will often charge a tank frontally if it's low on health and tries to run. when this happens, off course, the tank will get exposed as a whole by planking into the enemy side of the field or base, and makes it extremely vulnerable from attacks from the side. i could add even more details to this, but i think you get the picture of how it looks like and how complex it can get. also, the 300% damage spots (yes i know, 300% is too much, it should be decreased)are hard to hit, and are few in numbers. also, allowing getting yourself hit on the back is just stupid. then again... ...if you do what R315r4z0r just said (which many people do), it's going to be a sacrifice you're going to have to take. but off course, you can block off the back of your tank by driving slightly diagonally, but you don't need my opinion on that to get an idea about that. don't forget, the game isn't released yet, so nothing is final. the RenX team can still decide what they want to do with it.

you mean this: https://www.bluehellproductions.com/for ... opic=26800 try reading from post #8, they really get into it. you could get some nice ideas from it.

isn't there already another project like this going already? sounds very much like APB, but the only thing is that APB tends to be quite... odd with it's gameplay. are you planning to make it the same as APB or are you going to make something entirely on it's own?

I have no idea. Maybe you should PM a moderator, because you don't often get a reply of one. they're often more busy programming then watching the forums.

looking good! *enter mendoza voice here*

lol, then EA must be lying about it.

C&C Renegade's story was never part of Tiberian Dawn. It did roughly follow the events that happened, but were still diffrent. For example, Dr. Mobius was never really kidnapped in TD. also, the Temple of Nod wasn't destroyed by self-destruction, but by the ion cannon (at least if you did it right in the last mission of TD). TD did have a commando, but that commando isn't Havoc AKA Nick Parker, it was general Shepherd's son, Logan Shepherd.

Hey guys! So, i'm making this topic because my parents have decided for a while now that we're going on a holiday to mrorocco tomorrow, and we will be staying there for about 6 weeks! We will be travelling over 2000 kilometers to get there, crossing multiple countries and the water But to the general crowd here, i would like to say a happy holidays, and have a good one! To the beta testing team, i kinda want to say sorry because i've barely been able to test the game so far, and for my absence lately. It has been a very busy period to me, and finally when i get some spare time, i won't even be able to stay in touch because i won't have any access to the internet. But i have been playing a lot of C&C Renegade again lately, and i've kinda slowly turned into the go-to guy there in-game if you have any questions about renegade X, and other C&C mods. I've been trying to get this game noticed by the renegade community not by advertising, but by means of a good chat. I've put a lot of effort in it, and i hope i've been able to expand the community size a bit more with it. Also, by the way fobby, have you ever heard about this guy named [NE]Tjienemy[RUS] or something like that? (It'ss a bit of a wild guess, i vaguely remember his name.) He told me that you and him went way back in renegade, and that he has tried to contact you by sending a couple of emails a couple of months ago, but you never replied. I've redirected him to the forums, but i have no idea if he has responded yet. He did know about your project though. Anyways, i wish you a very jolly holidays, and have a good one (again)! See you in 6-7 weeks. Or i'll somehow be able to get on the internet again. - _ERROR_

it's not that hard to play Renegade online without XWIS, really. you need to install renegade with a random serial, then install 4.0 on it, then use Renlist to get a server list. GameSpy Arcade also supports this game, so

Any old off game features making a return or new ones?
XD_ERROR_XD replied to Kwiksh0t's topic in Renegade X
never got to witness it. -
Range will not affect damage done, if an enemy is in range on the other side of the map, it will deal the same damage as if that enemy was right in front of you. Much like C&C Renegade. i think that he means if you're at a large distance from an enemy, it will be easier to hit someone, because aiming in C&C Renegade was pretty stiff. it's hard to explain for me, but the pointer always seems to move a fixed amount of pixels, even with the smallest movement of your mouse. understand?

You can always make a seperate ranking system for official servers only. Making a global ranking system that included modded servers makes no sense. -
remembers me of a 5-6 hour match on Glacier_Flying with the AGT + PP Vs. Ob. + PP. it still suprises me how creative people can get when they are in a situation like this... i bet the average CoD player would've ragequit after a few minutes

I know your joking But at least phpBB is free. IPB is $175 to purchase and $25 every 6 months to renew (all US dollars). Oh wow, seriously? IPB isn't free? I never knew that O_o

I went to the page, but it was already set on 'yes'. I pressed submit anyways, but it still isn't showing up... EDIT: seemingly, it only shows up on new posts after I pressed submit...? This Is getting confusing lol

Just a question: why isn't my signature showing up? I changed it yesterday but I couldn't see it in my posts...

forums are looking good, but i kinda liked the look of old website more. as said before, it's too basic, too 'windows 8 like'. and yes, i didn't have to change my password . any reason for this?
-
yes, but if i'm right, the iron sights were implemented in the C&C renegade version as well. firing with such a weapon while looking through that scope would look hilarious though
-
ah! thanks for the answer. that should clear some things out...

oh, but i don't mind that mesa got all dark and stuff, it really fits with the industrial theme of the map and let's hope that chem sprayer will look better in-game, and even if it's not, it's still a nice weapon
