My first contact with C&C was with Tiberian Sun (at a friend's), but my first own C&C game was Red Alert 2. Have played all of the games ever since, except C&C3 (checked the demo out once).

Concerning the 'You need Steam to run UT3' statement, I tried replacing the Steam UT3.exe with a Non-Steam UT3.exe, and I could play Unreal Tournament 3 without needing to start Steam, even online. Though there's no reason for me to play without Steam as it's a lot easier to communicate with friends and stuff on it, and it doesn't use much CPU and RAM.

Like I said earlier this map is probably the last item in the maps priority list. Even though this was basically a fanmap by Aircraftkiller, the map did get included with a patch as an official, so it should be remade in Renegade X.

The new games modes are quite fun. I wish all game developers would make free expansion packs for their games instead of just making half a game, then selling the rest as an expansion pack. Anyways, we got Renegade X so I am happy!

Simply keep the original one and add 'Map played: ' somewhere left of the 'Next map'. That is really the only thing that was missing in the Renegade endgame screen.

Renegade Online is not dead at all. There are plenty of servers and some of them are in use 24/7. I usually play in the Jelly AOW1 server, or any active sniping server at the time I want to play Renegade (favorite Old-Timez). It's still lotsa fun, so go ahead and try to get online! As we all already know, Renegade-X is a mod for UT3. Steam has 40% off until march 15th. The game is pretty cheap and affordable for anyone.
