It's part of the meta game.
-
It's still a beta ACK, wait for the full release. Player count will be fine.
-
Yes, in Renegade the names of the occupants definitely weren't ever shown.
-
Bruce Willis is able to stand on top of a F-35 Jet Fighter in Die Hard 4, so why wouldn't players be able to stand on slow moving VTOL aircrafts and helicopters?
-
About 40-160 players on depending on the time of the day. It's less during the weekday.

The OP clearly expresses the reason we need servers with at least 80 players; no one defends in Renegade X. Excuse my frankness, but it's very hard to defend on Renegade X maps compared to Renegade. Maps are larger and there's more space between buildings. Sprinting is supposed to compensate for this fact but it can't do this for the extra open space which allows for easier sneaking (with and without stealth units). The extra space also makes it easier to enter an enemy base with a tank force and cause mayhem while it's harder to leap out of a building and damage a tank as a result of the extra open space. Eighty player servers will however compensate for this. I'd say maps are about 60% larger than in Renegade and the Jelly Marathon Renegade server has a player limit of 50 players which works out fine. So about 80 players should be tested for Renegade X too. Of prime importance then is to fix any issues related to higher player counts, e.g. the 'vehicle lag' issue which forces the current player limit to be capped at 40 players. In this forum thread we've already seen venomous, non sequitur attacks, e.g. 'join a clan'. However I still express hope that we can debate this meta game issue in a responsible and adult fashion; well argumented and well reasoned, lacking ad hominem attacks and other fallacious argumentation. Call me an idealist, call me naive -- that's just how I feel.

I don't see the issue with end map polls, the majority of the time they pass when one team has already lost early on in the game. Who wants to play Walls when their team has lost the Refinery at the very start? That's just illogical and it drops the player count quite a bit. In the short term it drops the player count of the server and in the long run it drops the player count of the game. Who wants to play the game if whenever their team has lost early on or in the middle of a match they still still need to wait more than twenty minutes for the time remaining to elapse? One kind of player will vehemently, steadfastly disagree with me; the 'killwhore' who wants to rack up an exquisite amount of free infantry kills when it's clear the opponent team has lost the match. Then the already concluded match just turns into a massacre killing spree for the last twenty or so minutes of the match. Where's the fun in that? My intention is not to be forceful, but at the very least if a large group of players feels that it no longer makes sense to play a match on the current map, shouldn't they ought to have the democratic power to put an end to the map? All the arguments AGAINST the democratic vote expressed so far seem to lack a coherent argument and indeed seem to rely mostly on emotion. At least on the surface. This might be a gamer web forum so that isn't that surprisingly, however I do expect a certain level of serious discourse. Remember very well that the debate doesn't just center around the feelings of individual players, of overwhelming importance is the game's player count. Do we want to lose players? We certainly will -- players will not quit the game when now and then on rare occasions a large group of players votes for ending the match (a two minute wait at most before new action). Yet players WILL QUIT the game if they're forced to sit around at least twenty minutes getting instantly killed by snipers in mere seconds after leaving a building. To think otherwise is all out preposterous.

I'm still waiting for a remake of the non-flying version of City, it's by far the most popular Renegade map. In the general opinion it also has the most exciting gameplay. Balance wise it's pretty good albeit a tad GDI favored at larger player counts (the two field entrances to a base are easy to guard while the bridge is long and slim and disadvantages Nod tanks, favouring the brute GDI arsenal in opposite to Nod's sneaky and mobile arsenal).

Maybe they're just smoking weed and loitering?

Has there been any actual evidence released that this individual was partaking in illicit e-doping activity? Or are we just forming a mob of rabble? Can't argue with the mob.

Stop whining and complaining people. Geez, the developers are working in their SPARE time on the game. This is only the open BETA release of the game, of course there are bound to be a small hiccups here and there.
-
You have basically lost the game after losing PP or Ref early in the game, it's a shame. I suggest compensating for losing them by giving a small credit tick rate when the Refinery is down and by lessening the economic effects when the Power Plant is down.
-
I'm glad to hear the developers are doing their best to combat cheaters. Keep up the nice work guys.
-
Having at least SOME commander capabilities for players built into the game would be pretty nice and enrich the depth of the game. Many Renegade servers like Black-Cell had this feature and it was really popular.
-
There really isn't much issue holding off GDI vehicles as long as you use airstrikes.
-
Actually I haven't played in a few days in protest of the unjustified nerfing of airstrikes in the soon to be released patch.
-
I was just wondering cause it genuinely looks like my playing style. We need RenXGuard and !forcergx

"Boink" sound effect seems very misplaced in this game
iran replied to lukeman3000's topic in Renegade X
The boink sound is really out of place in the game, IMO. I'm afraid it might drive away newcomers. -
Maybe it just was skill? Reminds me of how I play Renegade to be honest.
-
Take the time working on a good patch, and don't release a half-assed one in haste.
-
n00bless also had RoF dectection. RG detected it because it's an objects.ddb hack.
-
There's 88 players on right now, still a lot of players. Stop being so negative and stop blaming the developers for everything.
